10 years later: briefly; we meet Asia Reaves/another name [Zazie
Beetz:] she is an ex-convict that has recently gotten out of prison, that has
gotten into this job at this high rise location as a member of the maid/cleaner
stuff she is also on a secret mission.
Generally speaking: the storyline/script and the many components/elements
to this film have many traits of other well-known titles such as Kill Bill:
Volume 1 & Volume 2: 2003 and 2004, The Evil Dead Trilogy between
1981-1993, The Raid/The Raid: Redemption 2011 and this film is very much a
flavour of Oriental martial arts films mixed together to bring this film to
live; so obviously with all those being referenced; the framework, character
developments and pacing of this 95 minutes film is tight and free-flowing,
exposition on the character developments with a pacing which is always
constructively moving and simultaneously coinciding with the framework to bring
these chaotic to the forefront with spot on rotations and sometimes slow-motion
effects being used.
Action,
art, comedy, character developments and performance; now if you didn't know
this; by the film's I have already referenced that this film is heavily graphic
in one way or another; so all three of these components coincide one another as
in insanely non-stop action, incredibly visual and consequently sometimes
comical, as an example we have the character's eye spying on this ongoing
situation, as it has the ability to obviously roll around, but it also has the
ability to scale up this air vent; basically this film has so much happening in
it that... you can't get bored with it, but it does leave me a little bit stuck
what to put in this content; just because of its graphic nature which I myself
have no problem with it; it just leaves me a bit short on what is safe but in
this content though, I have just remembered we have our lead role going on this
dark room with this axe on fire, to use as a torch and as a weapon; this is
truly firstly manic action, which in turn turns into exquisite art, which turns
into perfect comedy and simultaneously perfect character developments and
performance.
Character
developments, performances and voice performance; by and large these character
developments are well rounded versions of what they are meant to be, which are
performed excellently to a foundation level, Beetz already had a good
foundation, based on her character's exposition/history, but her character
grows more rounded throughout this film as she does deals with this situation
and anything that may come away and the voice performers is good as well.
But
hypothetically if there is to be a sequel at some point in the future they need
to bring back Beetz as she has now made this character/role her very own and as
I said earlier or made reference to earlier this feels like just the foundation
level of these characters that could be possible to come back in the sequel and
yes these would also need the same performers as well
This film receives: 10/10, this film is top-notch entertainment; I think by
now I have made it crystal clear that at minimum this film moves, but more
often than not it is all gas and no breaks carnage, there is to begin with
engaging art in the ending credits and then an extra little thing they sound
effect at the end of the ending credits and yes this film does have an awards
accredited to its name; SXSW Film Festival 2026 Audience Award Headliners
Kirill Sokolov [but it has to be said this film does at minimum it does deserve
more nominees, because it doesn't seem right that they put this level of effort
into making this film not to have at least 5 positive nominees to its name.]
