Pay-Per-View Rewind of: WCW: Hog Wild 10/08/1996 Match 8/Part 8/Conclusion by AverageMansReviews - Spoiler Alarm!

Pay-Per-View Rewind of: WCW: Hog Wild 10/08/1996 Match 8/Part 8/Conclusion by AverageMansReviews - Spoiler Alarm!

Background information: in a nutshell the N.W.O sends a strong message to [The New Four Horsemen's the WCW United States Heavyweight Champion "The Nature Boy" Rick Flair and then we have the commentary team talking about what has just happened in the last match/match slot and wrapping up this pay-per-view.

Match/Stipulations: New World Order's ["Mr. Hollywood" Hulk Hogan] vs. The Dungeon of Doom's [the WCW World Heavyweight Champion The Giant with The Legendary Mouth of the South Jimmy Hart:] Singles Match for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship

Match Attributes:

Match Quality: 6/10

Match Storyline: 6/10

Crowd Participation: 10/10

On Commentary: "The American Dream" Dusty Rhodes, Tony Schiavone & Bobby "The Brain" Heenan 10/10

Satisfying Conclusion: 6/10

Recommend Watch: 6/10

Match Total: 44/60 - this match is good.

Comments: as the attribute marks would suggest this match/match slot is solidly good, but generally speaking it had a lot of assistance in one way or another, if you have been around wrestling long enough you have seen this match outlay used where it needs everything to sink into place for it to work at minimum properly; so here is a quick checklist of what I mean; willing and vocal crowd participation; check, commentary team providing a golden standard of commentary with passion; check and Hogan providing pantomime Heel tactics about pulling hair and general Heelness; check in fact to somewhat speed this up it takes everyone involved in this match/match slot/ending of this pay-per-view to pull this off; check. Because if or when you come to watch the pay-per-view or specifically this match/match slot; you will get to see and experience where generally speaking this Match Total is right. But for an example if the crowd were not so willing to participate this match/match slot could have really fallen on its face. I mean even as this match is it does feel a bit slow in places, it's almost like they were trying to hide up the fact that Hogan at this point was 43 years old and The Giant was 24 and as he is in name would suggest a giant of a man, so they went with a match outlay which is solid.

On a quick side note; the subtitles are wrong again in short when Heenan makes reference to this attendance figure of 93,000 the subtitles to say 90,000 and just to cover my back I didn't take for any of discrepancies, it is just this one stuck out like a sore thumb for me, because of the figures/numbers. Now just to finish up we have two Ring-announcers David Penzer and only for this main event match Michael Buffer.

Basic Result: your New WCW Heavyweight Champion New World Order's ["Mr. Hollywood" Hulk Hogan, The Outsiders Kevin Nash & Scott Hall.]

This pay-per-view receives: 9/10, this pay-per-view is excellent; I mean all of these matches on this pay-per-view are positive, so I had to give a bonus mark for that. But this pay-per-view is in its entirety is enjoyable, There is one massive blooper which will not affect your viewing pleasure, but it is still a massive blooper nonetheless. Now briefly on the poster for this pay-per-view we have Hulk Hogan yellow-and-red Babyface and not  the N.W.O. "Mr. Hollywood" Hulk Hogan black-and-white Heel.

The highest ranking match on this card based on attributes: The Ultimate Dragon [with Sonny Onoo] vs. the WCW World Cruiserweight Champion Rey Misterio, Jr.: Singles Match for the WCW World Cruiserweight Championship with 60/60.

The lowest ranking match on this card based on attributes: "The Iceman" Dean Malenko vs. The New Four Horsemen's ["The Crippler" Chris Benoit with Woman & Miss Elizabeth:] Singles Match with 38/60.

Pay-Per-View Rewind of: WCW: Hog Wild 10/08/1996 Match 7/Part 7 by AverageMansReviews - Spoiler Alarm!

Pay-Per-View Rewind of: WCW: Hog Wild 10/08/1996 Match 7/Part 7 by AverageMansReviews - Spoiler Alarm!

Background information: in a nutshell we have the commentary team over more scenes of the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally discussing it and Schiavone advertising the next WCW pay-per-view which would be WCW: Fall Brawl 1996 with this WCW Title Match appearing on the screen and going down into the bottom left.

Match/Stipulation: New World Order's [The Outsiders Kevin Nash & Scott Hall] vs. "The Franchise" Sting & "The Total Package" Lex Luger: Tag Team Match

Match Attributes:

Match Quality: 7/10

Match Storyline: 7/10

Crowd Participation: 7/10

On Commentary: "The American Dream" Dusty Rhodes, Tony Schiavone & Bobby "The Brain" Heenan 8/10

Satisfying Conclusion: 7/10

Recommend Watch: 7/10

Match Total: 43/60 - this match is good.

Comments: as I have already said this match is good, it does what it is designed to do which is put on a solidly good match and generally speaking in one way or another asks this question who is in the N.W.O? Just for here and now in this case Here is a selection of things said; Dream: "I think we'll somebody we haven't seen has bigger plan it might be right in our mist and I don't know who it is." Heenan: " Wait, wait, WHOA, WHOA, WHOA, what do you mean, someone from maybe we don't know about? Dream: " Yeah that's I am saying. somebody in our mist in the sea of heads."  Schiavone:"Alright" Heenan: "Wow." [Sometime later] Schiavone: "If they're gonna hold true to form here. There are going to be no rules, no boundaries and there is going to be some interference somewhere, so keep your eyes peeled guys." [Full disclosure about all of these dialogue exchanges used here if you put the subtitles on the words that they are saying do not match with the words in the subtitles, it's like someone has put on predictive text but for the subtitles instead, so yes I am dyslexic but I have ears like a bat so I have just tried to piece these dialogue exchanges or dialogue ever as best as I can, sometimes the dialogue and the subtitles are not matched in speed as well or it is what it is and just to cover my back these are just some of what was said from the commentary table.

So our suspects here are Heenan [as he keeps dropping potential allegiances to the N.W.O,  like for an example cheers on Nash at one point, but apologises to his commentary partners.] Or potentially the Referee [Nick Patrick] for a suspicious quick count, after taking seemingly an accidental Hall's boot [heel as Lugar is setting him up for his torture rack] in his face which begins this sequence of events to the conclusion of this match, an accidental chop-block to Luger by Patrick, followed by a quick pin-fall all whilst having visual issues, all I can say is; kayfabe is alive and well here.

Basic Result: I know I have very much indicated who picks up the W. here but I have to do the admin here; New World Order's [The Outsiders Kevin Nash & Scott Hall] pick up the Win here.

Pay-Per-View Rewind of: WCW: Hog Wild 10/08/1996 Match 6/Part 6 by AverageMansReviews - Spoiler Alarm!

Pay-Per-View Rewind of: WCW: Hog Wild 10/08/1996 Match 6/Part 6 by AverageMansReviews - Spoiler Alarm!

Disclaimers: now just to cover my back; I'm not going to discuss the historic situation better known as "The Plane Ride from Hell" as it relates to Ric Flair here and I am not a professional wrestler and never likely to be either.

Background information: in a nutshell after this match; Schiavone hands things over to "Mean" Gene Okerlund he makes reference to the 56th of this gigantic rally over these scenes of it, then we have this interview segment with the WCW World Heavyweight Champion The Dungeon of Doom's [The Giant with Jimmy Hart,]about tonight's match against the N.W.O's "Mr. Hollywood" Hulk Hogan. Okerlund hands things to David Penzer [Ring announcer] and our next match/Schiavone with this little graphic on the screen; Grudge Tag Team Match in this silver circle [purely speculation this is maybe meant to symbolise a hubcap;] these words are in different fonts in one way or another of black or silver text coming down the screen and to the right at the bottom

Match/Stipulations: Eddie Guerrero vs. [The New Four Horsemen's the WCW United States Heavyweight Champion "The Nature Boy" Rick Flair with Woman & Miss Elizabeth:] Singles Match for the WCW United States Heavyweight Championship

Match Attributes:

Match Quality: 7/10

Match Storyline: 7/10

Crowd Participation: 7/10

On Commentary: "The American Dream" Dusty Rhodes, Tony Schiavone & Bobby "The Brain" Heenan 7/10

Satisfying Conclusion: 7/10

Recommend Watch: 7/10

Match Total: 42/60 - this match is good.

Comments: this match is solidly good, To begin with we have a little bit of pantomime between Flair, Guerrero, the Referee [Randy Anderson,] Miss Elizabeth and Woman. Because things aren't going away Flair wants them to go. Flair Pushes Anderson to escape from Guerrero Pushes And push down, Flair starts on Anderson pushing him as Flair is getting up off the canvas, we roughly end up at the top right corner, pushes on the chest so Anderson doesn't back and then it happened again [this is speculation that having a educated guess Anderson is seemingly telling him something to the effect of " I am the referee you will respect me.]Flair and Guerrero Continue with this hard back and forth with shoves and hard slaps until Flair falls down on his posterior and quickly escapes under the bottom rope with Guerrero trying to grab at him as he exits the ring, flair goes to take a little break with Elizabeth with women screaming at Anderson and at Guerrero at some point.

There is this botch, which when you think looks small, but it is one of those small ones where even performer can't protect themselves due to contact on contact. It is early on in this match where Guerrero reverses Flair's headlock suplex. Guerrero tries to go from his back to his front when Flair lifts him and something goes wrong it collapses Flair takes Guerrero's legs on his arm and Guerrero takes the impact as well. Flair falling to the campus in pain and Guerrero rolling out of the ring on the opposite side, clearly in some discomfort with the commentary team in short highlighting this sequence of events with Dream: [this is an excerpt] "Flair went to pick him up and Eddie Guerrero come and rolled off him, I think he hurt his ankle a bit. I know what an excerpt means, but just the cover my back again Dream does say more here [I was thinking I would just put this here, just in case someone was thinking I was hiding something from you; hence the usage of an excerpt.]

Moving on I think a member of the crowd was trying to be a comedian by shouting out Booooring! You are roughly looking/hearing out when Flair goes to collect himself in his corner outside of the ring for the second time with Woman it is roughly around here somewhere and can I just say this individual is just being a posterior, because even after this botch these two competitors/performers are still putting on a positive match, even after this very short chant, they have one more botch/blooper to overcome which this one is/was completely out of their control and I have no idea what went wrong here, but let's just put it this way; it looks like someone forgot to pay the electricity bill as some of these lights go out for a little while, they are still wrestling one another.

Basic Result: [The New Four Horsemen's the WCW United States Heavyweight Champion "The Nature Boy" Rick Flair with Woman & Miss Elizabeth] Retains his WCW United States Heavyweight Championship.

RIP Eduardo "Eddie Guerrero" Llanes 09/10/1967-13/11/2005. Simply put he may be gone but he will never ever, ever be forgotten; for making an earth shattering Frog Splash on to the wrestling world

Pay-Per-View Rewind of: WCW: Hog Wild 10/08/1996 Match 5/Part 5 by AverageMansReviews - Spoiler Alarm!

Pay-Per-View Rewind of: WCW: Hog Wild 10/08/1996 Match 5/Part 5 by AverageMansReviews - Spoiler Alarm!

Background information/Warning: after this match; in short Schiavone and Dream are talking about the Sturgis Motorbike and set things up for us to watch this video package where we see some bikers and some of the WCW Superstars beginning their trek from Minnesota to the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in a little town in South Dakota; Warning there is an element of animal cruelty in this video content and after this video content would come back to Schiavone finishing up talking about this and then moving on to the next match which is/we see a these words on-screen WCW United States Heavyweight title.

Match/Stipulations: The Steiner Brothers [Rick Steiner & Scott Steiner] vs. the WCW World Tag Team Champions Harlem Heat [Booker T & Stevie Ray with Sister Sherri & Col. Robert Parker:] Tag Team Match for the WCW World Tag Team Championships

Match Attributes:

Match Quality: 8/10

Match Storyline: 7/10

Crowd Participation: 10/10

On Commentary: "The American Dream" Dusty Rhodes, Tony Schiavone & Bobby "The Brain" Heenan 7/10

Satisfying Conclusion: 7/10

Recommend Watch: 8/10

Match Total: 47/60 - this match is excellent

Comments: this match is of high quality, well you wouldn't expect anything less from these two legendary tag teams. Now Harlem Heat [Booker T & Stevie Ray with Sister Sherri & Col. Robert Parker] are a Heal stable at this point so as they are walking down and into the ring they are getting the standard Heel reception, but before this match properly get started Booker T & Stevie Ray seemingly says something to the section of the crowd in their corner of the ring when they are facing the crowd where it goes from the standard Heel heat to mega Heel heat and what gives this way is the purest sound from the entire crowd after this you have motorbikes revving and other sound effects here is a hint when you have got mega Heel heat with the crowd at the conclusion of this match you have them throwing garbage into the ring, because of this dusty finish, so this is purely speculation here I am guessing; Booker T & Stevie Ray possibly picked up on " Hold on we are sitting on a powderkeg here, if we say something derogatory in kayfabe about them that may push them over the edge." When or if you watch this match/match slot you will get to that point I am speaking of and after this point the crowd were just explosive and consequently clearly and loudly on the side of The Steiner Brothers [Rick Steiner & Scott Steiner.] I mean you even have the Referee [Randy Anderson] and Scott having a little bit of pantomime with the crowd as his brother and him perform this tag and Anderson doesn't see it so basically Scott and Anderson turn to the crowd Scott wants them to back him up and Anderson is looking for confirmation from the crowd so they say " Yes!"

Basic Result:  I know I have already basically told you the result, but I still have to do the admin; the WCW World Tag Team Champions Harlem Heat [Booker T & Stevie Ray with Sister Sherri & Col. Robert Parker] Retain their WCW World Tag Team Championships.

Pay-Per-View Rewind of: WCW: Hog Wild 10/08/1996 Match 4/Part 4 by AverageMansReviews - Spoiler Alarm!

Pay-Per-View Rewind of: WCW: Hog Wild 10/08/1996 Match 4/Part 4 by AverageMansReviews - Spoiler Alarm!

Disclaimers: I just want to cover my back by saying as it relates to the Benoit family incident, I am just here to discuss the wrestling and here and now as it relates to this pay-per-view/match and I have never been any professional wrestler and never likely to be.

Background information: Malenko comes out discussing a deal with Jimmy Hart; we can clearly hear in short Hart say "All you have to do is take Benoit out and a deal." [with a shake of hands;] with this entire section is an excerpt; Dream asking what is Jimmy Hart doing with Dean Malenko, Tony?" Schiavone: he promised him a title shot, he got the title shot this morning against Rey Misterio Jr. on WCW Pro. So Jimmy Hart is shaking his hands, held up his part of the bargain [Dream “Yeah”] Rey Misterio is still the Cruiserweight [Dream “Exactly”] and Dean Malenko man of his word." To save me bringing it up again they make reference to this again at some point in this match, you are listening out for these stable/factions names The Horsemen, The Dongen of Doom, The N.W.O and WCW.

After this match; briefly  we have a little bit of talking about Sturgis Motorcycle Rally by Schiavone, Heenan doing a fart joke at Schiavone expense [motorbike sound effect]advertising the next match on scream [WCW World Tag Team Titles.] We don’t see this and I am paraphrasing here as well.; Dream wants Schiavone to look at this motorcycle on his monitor which he does and likes it.

Match/Stipulation: "The Iceman" Dean Malenko vs. The New Four Horsemen's "The Crippler" Chris Benoit [with Woman & Miss Elizabeth:] Singles Match

Match Attributes:

Match Quality: 7/10

Match Storyline: 6/10

Crowd Participation: 6/10

On Commentary: "The American Dream" Dusty Rhodes, Tony Schiavone & Bobby "The Brain" Heenan 7/10

Satisfying Conclusion: 6/10

Recommend Watch: 6/10

Match Total: 38/60 - this match is good

Comments: as the Match Total would suggest this match is good, but there are a number of botches and because these two individuals are masters of wrestling at worst it looks dangerous and painful or it just looks sloppy [on the whole the rest just look sloppy. But for two examples I will talk about the two superplexs from a top turnbuckle the first one [the aggressor Benoit] in short everything is going fine, still going fine and then there is a split second where it goes slightly wrong.

This is where I would like to hand it over to Schiavone; excerpt  " I think it's the way they came off, usually on a superplex you elevate and go high that time Benoit went really almost and it cost him as well."

The second superplex of a top turnbuckle [aggressor Malenko] likewise everything is going well, still going well and for some reason Malenko slightly releases Benoit in midair, this is purely speculation. But maybe he didn't want to have happen what happened earlier, so I get it if this was his thinking process but it still looks sloppy.

Needing a winner; I get it [based on the Background information section from earlier; this will make sense the more you read.] But I think the crowd were a little bit burned out from this pay-per-view from being highly enjoyable so you can tell they are there and yes they get into it later on but maybe roughly having any 30 minute match isn't/wasn't a good idea. This is speculation here but they wanted to super protect these two competitors by going with the narrative of a long fought contest but they needed a winner and they had a dusty finish on top of that as well. So if this is what they were going for they achieved what they set out to do, but as you can see it comes at a cost. But the commentary team in one way or another build up the crowd well for 98% of the time Heenan makes some Heel comments. On reflection this match would have been absolutely perfect for the first match on this card, it would have really began this pay-per-view with a bounce.

Dream comes out with a four count as it relates to a pin-fall [before I put this down I have tried to get it down as correctly as I can but for some reason the subtitles move too quickly with a speech, I have tried repeatedly many times easily into double figures of attempts so if I have gotten it right cool, if I have gotten it wrong or slightly wrong apologies for that; this is a rough excerpt "I thought he had him in backslide right there for the one, two, three, four."

Basic Result: after everything is said and done The New Four Horsemen's "The Crippler" Chris Benoit [with Woman & Miss Elizabeth] picks up the .W

RIP Nancy "Women" Benoit 17/06/1964-22/06/2007 and RIP Elizabeth "Miss Elizabeth" Hulette 19/11/1960-01/05/2003, may you both be a escorting some of the biggest names in wrestling down and into the ring; in that big wrestling ring up above.

Pay-Per-View Rewind of: WCW: Hog Wild 10/08/1996 Match 3/Part 3 by AverageMansReviews - Spoiler Alarm!

Pay-Per-View Rewind of: WCW: Hog Wild 10/08/1996 Match 3/Part 3 by AverageMansReviews - Spoiler Alarm!

Disclaimer: I have never been or are likely to be a professional wrestler.

Background information: after this match; in a nutshell Schiavone  promotes you can talk to the WCW stars CompuServe [Internet] and the Steiner Bros [Scott and Rick Steiner; I have put their names in seating order - we see them in this little hut on these laptops messing around on them; with comments from Heenan them in this situation.]

Match/Stipulation: Bull Nakano [with Sonny Onoo] vs. Medusa: Battle of the Bikes [the winner of this match gets to take a sledgehammer to their opponent’s motorcycle.]

Match Attributes:

Match Quality: 7/10

Match Storyline: 7/10

Crowd Participation: 10/10

On Commentary: "The American Dream" Dusty Rhodes, Tony Schiavone & Bobby "The Brain" Heenan 7/10

Satisfying Conclusion: 6/10

Recommend Watch: 6/10

Match Total: 43/60 - this match is good

Comments: this match was good, the crowd were into it, okay they used the old-fashioned foreigners Heel heat routine; Bull Nakano [with Sonny Onoo] from Japan including a Honda a motorcycle made in Japan with likewise Medusa Babyface American, interests in motorcycles, driving a Harley Davidson made in the United States of America, but it worked. On a quick side note and yes speculation mixed in with observation. I don't think Nakano had/has a motorcycle license or possibly a US one, just based on the fact that Onoo drove her motorcycle, whilst she is walking to the ring behind him. Yes indeed this match/stipulation is to fit in with this pay-per-view theme of Motorcycles/Sturges Motorcycle Rally. Generally speaking this match is good wrestling.

But now on to the slight botch; there is a hurricanrana with pinning combination being performed by Medusa that it looks like she gets too much rotation on it and the pinning combination slightly/noticeably collapses.

The pinning; confusion about the pin; [this is just an exert, because there is a lot from beginning to end of this situation' so we start here;] Schiavone: "You think - I don't know if we can back in our video truck if we can take a look, how that match ended again I thought Medusa got her shoulder up. [Rhodes;"Yeah."] Schiavone continues; "I'm being told we cannot." With Rhodes: "Yeah, yeah you both did." Schiavone: " apparently Medusa did but Bull Nakano did not Rhodes: Medusa got her shoulders up Bull Nakano did--the bottom line. Medusa is the winner, then a bashing on the bike ride here and a trashing on the bike." But I should point out as it relates to watching replays; remember it was perfectly fine in our first match; The Ultimate Dragon [with Sonny Onoo] vs. the WCW World Cruiserweight Champion Rey Misterio, Jr.: Singles Match for the WCW World Cruiserweight Championship; Heenan recalling the closing stages of this match over a replay[ yes I replayed this many times myself, somehow I got it wrong the first five or six times, I don’t know how because watching it again it is so clear what happens can’t believe it took me that long over two days  to see what happens, but as long as I got it all right in the end, that is all what matters.

Whilst they are discussing this; Medusa is taking a sledgehammer to this motorcycle. I'm not criticising here, but she is giving it everything With this sledgehammer, but things are not going according to plan, this Honda seems to be well built; it is a good commercial/advertisement for Honda as in " Honda; we build motorcycles that can withstand sledgehammers." I mean they could have behind the scenes before this match told her  We have set a weak point here, we have decided so that Onoo can still drive it on a short trip to the ringside area, but if you aim the sledgehammer here it will be fine." I just want to clarify I'm not saying anything to the effect of " she is weak or a vulnerable woman, in fact I would be saying exactly the same if she was a man." But I am saying in fairness and balance they most definitely left her high and dry here." Likewise from the previous match this match went on for a roughly over five minutes, but to leave this match/match slot I really can't praise the crowd participation throughout this; they were behind it from beginning to end.

Basic Result: I know I have already told you the result, but I am a stickler for admin, so Medusa picks up the W. here

Pay-Per-View Rewind of: WCW: Hog Wild 10/08/1996 Match 2/Part 2 by AverageMansReviews - Spoiler Alarm!

Pay-Per-View Rewind of: WCW: Hog Wild 10/08/1996 Match 2/Part 2 by AverageMansReviews - Spoiler Alarm!

Background information/Warning: after this match; Schiavone in short sets us up the viewers to watch the abbreviated version of The Four Horsemen's Ric Flair interview;  there are flesh/colourful effects in this interview video with Flair [the questions are fully on-screen on top of a background, the background moving imagery will fit in with the question; before he answers them;] where I am paraphrasing here The Four Horsemen are siding with WCW against the N.W.O after what they did to another member of The Four Horsemen's Arn Anderson [we get stills of their friendship, The Four Horsemen and Anderson laying on the floor, Medical people and other people around him then being put into an ambulance.]

After that we come back to Schiavone; he talks about Flair and again they promote/advertise Sturgis Motorcycle Rally with Heenan and Rhode; then we get a commercial/advertisement for merchandise relating to this pay-per-view with voice over and featuring Jimmy Hart..

Match/Stipulation: Scott "Flash" Norton vs. Ice Train: Singles Match

Match Attributes:

Match Quality: 7/10

Match Storyline: 7/10

Crowd Participation: 6/10

On Commentary: "The American Dream" Dusty Rhodes, Tony Schiavone & Bobby "The Brain" Heenan 8/10

Satisfying Conclusion: 7/10

Recommend Watch: 6/10

Match Total: 41/60 - this match is good

Comments: this match is what it is from beginning to end; there isn't anything wrong with it, but it just goes on for roughly over five minutes and because we have two well built competitors in this match, it follows the style of smash mouth wrestling with limited time, because of everything I have said in this paragraph; it makes this match harmless to this pay-per-view as a whole, even the sudden conclusion of this match makes sense, so I can't criticise it.

Basic Result: Scott "Flash" Norton picks up the W.

Pay-Per-View Rewind of: WCW: Hog Wild 10/08/1996 Match 1/Part 1 by AverageMansReviews - Spoiler Alarm!

Pay-Per-View Rewind of: WCW: Hog Wild 10/08/1996 Match 1/Part 1 by AverageMansReviews - Spoiler Alarm!

Chosen by: Me: just because why not, because WCW Bash at the Beach 16/07/1995; generally speaking because this was positively entertaining, I would go for another WCW pay-per-view.

Disclaimer: I have never been or are likely to be a professional wrestler.

Background information: to begin this pay-per-view we have voice-over by Tony Schiavone; a little bit about Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, since 1938 the motorcycle rally of the world [yes we are outside again for this pay-per-view, but this time instead of the beach we have motorcycles.] Then we have Tony Schiavone in the middle of "The American Dream" Dusty Rhodes on the right hand Bobby "The Brain" Heenan on the left [with "Iron" Mike Tenay joining them just before this first match.] But this trio building up The N.W.O's  [“Mr. Hollywood “ Hulk Hogan] vs. the: WCW's the WCW World Heavyweight Champion [Dungeon Of Doom's The Giant with Jimmy Hart:] Singles Match for the WCW Heavyweight Championship and then N.W.O's [The Outsiders Kevin Nash & Scott Hall] taking on WCW's Lex Luger & Sting: Tag Team Match.

After this match; after watching the replay of the closing stages of this match with Heenan recalling it. Schiavone handing things over to Okerlund. [Tenay leaving the commentary area with Schiavone saying "Thanks a lot Mike."  "Mean" Gene Okerlund in short promotes/advertise that they have a hotline with Tenay and himself to discuss this pay-per-view and the world of professional wrestling after this pay-per-view then it gets handed back to Schiavone from Okerlund so he can talk about Sturgis Motorcycle Rally with Heenan and Rhodes.

Match/Stipulations: The Ultimate Dragon [with Sonny Onoo] vs. the WCW World Cruiserweight Champion Rey Misterio, Jr.: Singles Match for the WCW World Cruiserweight Championship.

Match Attributes:

Match Quality: 10/10

Match Storyline: 10/10

Crowd Participation: 10/10

On Commentary: "The American Dream" Dusty Rhodes, Tony Schiavone, Bobby "The Brain" Heenan & "Iron" Mike Tenay 10/10

Satisfying Conclusion: 10/10

Recommend Watch: 10/10

Match Total: 60/60 - this match is top-notch entertainment.

Comments: this match is worth of receiving full marks, because individually or together with who these two competitors are you wouldn't expect anything less and on top of that as this match is/was a Cruiserweight Match in this case specifically for the WCW World Cruiserweight Championship, as everyone should know which is old enough or been around wrestling long enough back in this timeframe the WCW used their Cruiserweight Division two kickoff their pay-per-view's with a lively encounter and atmosphere to engage their audience and to give this pay-per-view in question a positive atmosphere and enthusiasm to build on for the rest of this pay-per-view and once again back in this timeframe it was one of the best Cruiserweight Divisions/Championship around.

There is only one ever so tiny botch; it is where Dragon performs this Upside Down Surfboard or in Mexico it is known as a Rito Romero Special, but as this move is being set up on Misterio [very tiny amount of time, look for the near foot to begin with when the camera shot is on this site, but on the far side when it switches perspectives,] Dragon or Misterio or both of them lose footing on where the foot should be, in a nutshell you are looking for Misterio's leg sticking out somewhere it shouldn't be. But this is how masterful these two wrestlers are at wrestling; Misterio smoothly just turns this into two pin-fall attempts to make this look like a smooth sequence and just to continue this match and to make this very tiny moment a glitch and nothing more.

The quick and general dynamic of our commentary team for this pay-per-view or match as it relates to Tenay"The American Dream" Dusty Rhodes [Babyface,] Tony Schiavone [Linchpin of normalcy/Referee between Rhodes and Heenan; yes  Schiavone makes reference to being the Referee or something to that effect between these two at some point during this first match so I went with it as well,  Bobby "The Brain" Heenan  [Heel] and "Iron" Mike Tenay [The Encyclopaedia of Wrestling;] for an example he told us about this Upside Down Surfboard or in Mexico it is known as a Rito Romero Special, so I can't take credit for it, yes I have seen this move being performed but I couldn't remember it's name and I didn't know about its Mexican name.

Basic Result: the WCW World Cruiserweight Champion Rey Misterio, Jr. Retains his WCW World Cruiserweight Championship here.
