Pay-Per-View Rewind of: WCW Bash at the Beach 16/07/1995 Match 7/Part 7/Conclusion by AverageMansReviews - Spoiler Alarm!

Pay-Per-View Rewind of: WCW Bash at the Beach 16/07/1995 Match 7/Part 7/Conclusion by AverageMansReviews - Spoiler Alarm!

Background information: in short to begin the build up for this match; we have this video package of The Road Kill Tour which Vader has been on to get to this point so we see all the carnage and this promo from Vader as well standing behind/holding onto this Cage component/site, we have this interview segment interviewer "Mean" Gene Okerlund with Vader, then back to Schiavone and Heenan to build up this match and towards the next pay-per-view [WCW: Collision in Korea 1995 with a excellent video advertising for this pay-per-view.] Following this Okerlund interviewing Hogan, Hart and Rodman continuing building at this match, but watch out for when Hogan first uses "Rod The Bod Roddy Man." If you are experienced wrestling fans or people in the business, you will see/hear Hogan come out with this just once and somewhat stumble towards the end. This is purely speculation, but you kind of get the feeling after that Hogan is quickly thinking to himself " I'm not saying that again, that was a mouthful so I am going to quickly shorten it to "Rod The Bod" to fit in with the rest of this promo. On their entrance we also have more of filming for Season 6: Episode 15: Bash at the Beach. Just my back this is based on speculation mixed in with observation you can see a recording camera and not only that on some of their entourage as well.

Match/Stipulations: Big Van Vader vs. the WCW Heavyweight Hulk Hogan [with his entourage consisting of Baywatch characters/performers, "Mouth of the South" Jimmy Hart & Dennis "Rod The Bod Roddy Man" Rodman:] Steel Cage Match for the WCW Heavyweight Championship

Match Attributes:

Match Quality: 7/10

Match Storyline: 8/10

Crowd Participation: 10/10

On Commentary: Tony Schiavone & Bobby "The Brain" Heenan 8/10

Satisfying Conclusion: 7/10

Recommend Watch: 7/10

Match Total: 47/60 - this match is excellent

Comments: this match is one of those matches the as you can tell by the Match Total make sure this pay-per-view goes out with a bang. The match itself is everything you can to expect from everyone involved in this match at some point. Now without giving too much away the false script and ending of this pay-per-view is a excellent touch all I can say about it is this; it gives an excellent illusion of this is meant to not be happening. The WWE should look how it is done properly and when I say properly I mean a good variety between the negative or a generic endings to their pay-per-views and this one.

Now sadly RIP Leon "Big Van Vader"/"Vader" White; 14/05/1955-18/06/2018, he will always be best remembered for being the size he was; being able to destroy his opponents, but also being able to be quick and agile to go off the middle or top turnbuckle.

Now sadly RIP Raymond Bobby "The Brain" Heenan; 01/11/1944-17/09/2017, now this character/performer will be always best remembered as one of the best on-screen characters and voices of wrestling, because you knew when he was around or on commentary he was always going to make it lively and engaging.

Now sadly RIP Eugene "Mean Gene" Okerlund; 19/12/1942-02/01/2019; he will always be best remembered for his interview segments being able to go with the moment then and there and ask what needs to be asked.

This pay-per-view receives: 7/10, this pay-per-view is good; it goes with a bounce from beginning to end and maybe the WWE should really take a look at this pay-per-view based on the grounds that this is how you make references to your sponsors in one way or another, without it being a massive negative or negative impact on to your pay-per-view; generally speaking they bring up Slim Jim's in some capacity throughout and without drowning on and on and on and on about it they bring it up and get it out of the way with nicely and move on and repeat basically is not irritating. Yes just to cover my back I am aware even though I have said twice the WWE could learn something from WCW I am very much aware of two things; one, towards the end of WCW their scripts and all-round product was garbage. Two; WCW went out of business in 2001 and the WWE are still here [I was just getting this out before someone came back to me and pointed this out, but here is something for you to think about; but hasn't the WWE Main Rosters, become the equivalent of WCW in its later years? The only difference being the WWE has an pretty much endless supply of finance.]

The very last thing about this pay-per-view; yes there are two ring announcer Michael Buffer does the beginning match of this pay-per-view "The Mighty" Meng [with Colonel Robert Parker] vs. the WCW United States Heavyweight Championship Sting: Singles Match for the WCW United States Heavyweight Championship and this match whilst David Penzer does the rest of them.

The highest ranking match on this card based on attributes that we see would be: Big Van Vader vs. the WCW Heavyweight Hulk Hogan [with his entourage consisting of Baywatch characters/performers, "Mouth of the South" Jimmy Hart & Dennis "Rod The Bod Roddy Man" Rodman:] Steel Cage Match for the WCW Heavyweight Championship with 47/60.

The lowest ranking match on this card based on attributes that we see would be: "Mr. Wonderful" Paul Orndorff vs. the WCW World Television Champion The Renegade [with "Mouth of the South" Jimmy Hart:] Singles for the WCW World Television Championship with 19/60.

Pay-Per-View Rewind of: WCW Bash at the Beach 16/07/1995 Match 6/Part 6 by AverageMansReviews - Spoiler Alarm!

Pay-Per-View Rewind of: WCW Bash at the Beach 16/07/1995 Match 6/Part 6 by AverageMansReviews - Spoiler Alarm!

Disclaimer: I have never been a professional wrestler and never likely to be.

Background information: Schiavone and Heenan; momentarily bring up the previous match and then build up this match and then the main event Vader vs. the WCW World Heavyweight Hogan with [Jimmy Hart] Steel Cage Match for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship and then they switch back to the upcoming match which would be this one; where Schiavone explains these stipulations [look at the paragraph down for my interpretation.] Then we have this interview segment interviewer "Mean" Gene Okerlund with Ric Flair building up this match, then we have the entrance of these Lifeguards; which Heenan tries to stand on his chair to get a better look which Schiavone in short point out to him you are now on camera and with that he realises and goes to sit back on his chair with them continuing this dialogue exchange; after that Heenan stands up and performs this two-handed whistle and these Lifeguards with Schiavone laughing and sending it down David Penzer [ring announcer.]

Match/Stipulations: "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair vs. "The Macho Man" Randy Savage: Lumberjack/Lifeguard Match; here is more information on the stipulations, basically we have Lumberjacks surrounding the ring and further back we would have some Lifeguards; this is purely speculation/mixed in with common sense they obviously couldn't have these Lifeguards in direct harm’s way, but they needed to fulfil what they had been advertising and they were doing some filming for Baywatch Season 6: Episode 15: Bash at the Beach [Schiavone makes reference to this at some point during this match or just to cover my back match slot,] so I have no problem with this outcome here.

Match Attributes:

Match Quality: 7/10

Match Storyline: 7/10

Crowd Participation: 7/10

On Commentary: Tony Schiavone & Bobby "The Brain" Heenan 7/10

Satisfying Conclusion: 7/10

Recommend Watch: 7/10

Match Total: 42/60 - this match is good

Comments: as you can see this is another good match here. Now in this match/match slot; The Nasty Boys [Brian Knobbs & Jerry Sags] are Babyfaces as they are situated on Savage's side of the ring and more importantly acting like Babyfaces. I am just bringing this up because in their match on this card; The Blue Bloods [Lord Steven Regal & Earl Robert Eaton] vs. The Nasty Boys [Brian Knobbs & Jerry Sags] vs. the WCW World Tag Team Champions Haarlem Heat [Booker T & Stevie Ray with Sister Sherry:] Triangle Match for the WCW World Tag Team Championships; I did point out that we had out and out Heels all the way around this match minus the referee [Nick Patrick.]

Yes I have been around wrestling long enough to know this could just be a case of characters/performers just fulfilling a purpose, but I also know if I don't pointed out I know at some point down the line someone will come back to me.

Now for some strange reason the turnbuckle on the left far side makes a weird sound [as in it may need maintenance or it is broken] you will know the sound when you watch this match and one of these two competitors get irish-whiped hard enough here, like I have already said I have never been or are likely to be a professional wrestler, but something doesn't sound right here.]

Flair tries to suplex Savage back into the ring off the apron, but Savage reversers and Flair gets suplexed over the ropes and out of the ring, but the more and more I replayed this; the more the aggressor in the second phase; Savage tosses Flair over the top rope not a suplex reversal. I got the word "tosses" from the commentary of Schiavone. Heenan: "Now that - he's now that's over the top rope. We should stop the match right now." Schiavone: "Flair at the apron that was not a deliberate toss over the top rope."I know this was a botch, but with keeping kayfabe a live and working with what we see it clearly looks like it was deliberate as Flair takes a bump to the outside, to quickly cover this up the lumberjacks quickly pick him and roll him in to the ring, so they can get on with the match. But I digress Heenan responds to Schiavone with "What do you think that was? Schiavone "The match goes on." After this match Savage verbally/visually by Schiavone and Heenan gets given an award Snap of The Match [ an award by Slim Jim's; which as I have previously stated at the beginning of this pay-per-view Savage has a very long-term association with this organisation and yes I am very much aware that they have just given an award to their spokesperson and this sequence sounds more like an advertiser Slim Jim's,] but then again they have given it to him based on his legendary finisher the elbow drop from the top of turnbuckle.

Basic Result: I know I have given away the outcome, but I still have to do the admin; "The Macho Man" Randy Savage picks up the W.

RIP Randall "The Macho Man" Randy Savage Pofto;15/11/1962-20/05/2011, He is no longer with us, but he will always be best remembered for his larger-than-life outfits, enthusiastic promos and is legendary elbow-drop from the top turnbuckle.

Pay-Per-View Rewind of: WCW Bash at the Beach 16/07/1995 Match 5/Part 5 by AverageMansReviews - Spoiler Alarm!

Pay-Per-View Rewind of: WCW Bash at the Beach 16/07/1995 Match 5/Part 5 by AverageMansReviews - Spoiler Alarm!

Disclaimer: I am not a professional wrestler and never likely to be

Background information: we have this interview segment interviewer "Mean" Gene Okerlund with the WCW World Tag Team Champions Haarlem Heat [Booker T & Stevie Ray with Sister Sherry] building up this match [then after this match] Schiavone & Heenan discussing what they have just seen and then throwing it back to Okerlund to have another interview segment with the WCW World Tag Team Champions Haarlem Heat [Booker T & Stevie Ray with Sister Sherry] to discuss what just happened and their new No1 Contenders in BunkHouse Buck & Dirty Dick Slater; yes I am just dictating this character/performer's name down here.

Match/Stipulations: The Blue Bloods [Lord Steven Regal & Earl Robert Eaton] vs. The Nasty Boys [Brian Knobbs & Jerry Sags] vs. the WCW World Tag Team Champions Haarlem Heat [Booker T & Stevie Ray with Sister Sherry:] Triangle Match for the WCW World Tag Team Championships; extra information on stipulations of this match; by a toss of coins at the beginning of this match, one member of two tag team's start this match and third start on the apron and they can tag in whomever they like; it could be their tag team partner or another member of another team.

Match Attributes:

Match Quality: 6/10

Match Storyline: 6/10

Crowd Participation: 6/10

On Commentary: Tony Schiavone & Bobby "The Brain" Heenan 6/10

Satisfying Conclusion: 6/10

Recommend Watch: 6/10

Match Total: 36/60 - this match is good

Comments: this match is a solidly good across the board, I only have some things to bring up so let's begin The Nasty Boys [Knobbs & Sags] execute a very poor double-team by the name of wishbone on receiver Ray [basic description; the aggressor tag team take a leg of the receiver whilst they are on the floor facing up and make a V-shape with their legs up and pull them apart.] This double team is relatively easy to pull off, but in this case it is just all around sloppieness between these three performers [when or if you see this match you'll see what I mean.] The Referee [Nick Patrick] counts pin when Sags is not legal man [a moment previously Regal tags himself in, so there is this moment of sorting this out.] Then we have this really odd mistake by Heenan; in short because Heenan and Schiavone discuss it and Schiavone makes light out of Heenan when they discuss who he wants to win this match; Heenan is momentarily under the belief that Haarlem Heat have to be pinned to lose their Championships which is not the case. Now on one hand and yes this is purely speculation on one hand this could have been a honest genuine mistake which they are between them trying to cover up, but on the other hand Heenan in particular through this match says things like I don't know what's going on or something like this to illustrate/put across to the viewer that this match is chaotic and at some point Schiavone says something to the effect of it is chaotic. My point here being on reflection if you listen to the commentary carefully, but you don't have to be too careful about it; it sounds more like they are really selling these interpretations of stipulations as they are the first of their kind [debut.] Just to cover my back I am fully aware I could be absolutely wrong about this and it is all coincidental, but we are talking about Heenan here, he is one of the best sellers in professional wrestling, he is/was very smart. My final point is something worth pointing out, but I don't overly mind but everyone involved in this match minus Patrick; is out and out Heels; the crowd were receptive to who was involved though.

Basic Result: I know I have told you already, but I still have to do the admin; the WCW World Tag Team Champions Haarlem Heat [Booker T & Stevie Ray with Sister Sherry] Retain their Championships here.

Now sadly RIP 14/08/1958-04/08/2021; he was going under the wrestling persona of Earl Robert Eaton, but he will always be best remembered for being under the wrestling persona of  "Beautiful" Bobby Eaton and one half of this legendary tag team The Midnight Express/The Original Midnight Express

with "Sweet "Stan Lane with Jim Cornett, but full disclosure they were a little bit before my time so I have seen bits of them together and separately as it relates to Eaton and before I have wrestling historians coming back I know based on a little bit of research, there were different members in this tag team at one point or another; I am just using the one I have seen so far, but I don't know much about The Midnight Express/The Original Midnight Express, but their legacy and reputation, always get brought up in wrestling circles as it relates to tag team wrestling, so as a sign of respect I use the word legendary. Hopefully I will cover more tag team wrestling/history over the years to come, because if you have been following me long enough you know I like tag team wrestling, so on one hand I am absolutely destroyed that the WWE have turned this art form into a joke on their main rosters, but absolutely delighted that AEW are making it a cornerstone of their wrestling promotion.

RIP Sherri "Sensationally"/"Sister Sherry" Martel; 08/02/1958-15/06/2007,, I began watching wrestling when she was in her manager stage of her career; she has many wrestling names for another example under the WWF she went under the name "Sensationally" Sherry. This was back in the time where if you were given a manager more often than not they would see great potential in this individual or tag team or stable or other and she deserves to be seen as a legendary manager and once again before I have the wrestling historians after me I have only seen her in one wrestling match and she was at the very least solid as a performer of what I remember.

Pay-Per-View Rewind of: WCW Bash at the Beach 16/07/1995 Match 4/Part 4 by AverageMansReviews - Spoiler Alarm!

Warning: there is a component of domestic abuse in this match/match slot.

Match/Stipulation: "The 13,000,000 Man" Diamond Dallas Page [with Diamond Doll and Max Muscle vs. David Sullivan [with Ralph the Rabbit:] Singles Match

Match Attributes:

Match Quality: 5/10

Match Storyline: 5/10

Crowd Participation: 5/10

On Commentary: Tony Schiavone & Bobby "The Brain" Heenan 6/10

Satisfying Conclusion: 4/10

Recommend Watch: 4/10

Match Total: 29/60 - this match is mixed

Comments: the Match Total of 29/60 is a fair reflection of this match/match slot, likewise in the previous match The Dungeon of Doom's ["The Ugandan Warrior" Kamala with The Taskmaster Kevin Sullivan] vs. Standing Proud for The Red, White and Blue "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan: Singles Match. This match follows an old formula of a match/match slot, but where the previous match is a very pink by numbers and has been round since the birth of the wrestling industry and is a match layout which you could still use without too much difficulty, basically the match outlay in the previous match is something safe and reliable for amateur wrestling or a beginner's match outlay for young wrestlers to learn or you are having to put a match together with very little notice or something like that.

But as it relates to this match and character developments and feud right here it does what it is designed to do which is get more Heel Heat [cheap Heat but still Heat nonetheless for mainly Page and a little for Muscle] and it wasn't acceptable back then, so in 2021 [when this blog was first dictated] it hasn't aged at all that well in the slightest. The only reason I have rated it as high as I have, is because it simply does what it is designed to do. Where is Ralph the Rabbit? The ring announcer [David Penzer] announces him, but he is nowhere to be seen and Heenan even enquiries after this match/match slot just at the very end of it; "Where's the Rabbit?" The only logical/purely speculation on my part is Sullivan unrobes and  dashes to the ring in one movement for a quick attack on Page to get this match going, so maybe someone had forgotten to tell Penzer there was a change of plans and just for the record after a little bit of research; looking at pictures Ralph the Rabbit was indeed a bunny rabbit [which fits in with Sullivan's physically big and strong in the model of Lennie Small; from Of Mice and Men persona/gimmick and in this feud at this time.

Basic Result: "The 13,000,000 Man" Diamond Dallas Page [with Diamond Doll and Max Muscle

Pay-Per-View Rewind of: WCW Bash at the Beach 16/07/1995 Match 3/Part 3 by AverageMansReviews - Spoiler Alarm!

Pay-Per-View Rewind of: WCW Bash at the Beach 16/07/1995 Match 3/Part 3 by AverageMansReviews - Spoiler Alarm!

Background information: in short we have this video package from The Dungeon of Doom debuting "The Ugandan Warrior" Kamala and into The Dungeon of Doom. Then this interview segment interviewer "Mean" Gene Okerlund and Duggan in a nutshell says "No more Mr nice guy." [Building up and heading into this match.]  Schiavone and Heenan; build up The Dungeon of Doom in the entrance of ["The Ugandan Warrior" Kamala with The Taskmaster Kevin Sullivan] and in Duggan's entrance they build him up but also this match and The Dungeon of Doom in one way or another as well.

After this match Schiavone and Heenan take some time to build up Flair vs. Savage in a Lifeguard Match with it rules, basically it is a lumberjack/jills Match and we have a thanks message/interview segment with interviewer "Mean" Gene Okerlund in summary gives thanks to everyone Involved in the hospitality of this event and then links/transitions it into [Savage entries into the shot;] this is to build up this match later on; on this pay-per-view.

Match/Stipulation: The Dungeon of Doom's ["The Ugandan Warrior" Kamala with The Taskmaster Kevin Sullivan] vs. Standing Proud for The Red, White and Blue "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan: Singles Match

Match Attributes:

Match Quality: 3/10

Match Storyline: 4/10

Crowd Participation: 7/10

On Commentary: Tony Schiavone & Bobby "The Brain" Heenan 7/10

Satisfying Conclusion: 4/10

Recommend Watch: 4/10

Match Total: 29/60 - this match is mixed

Comments: I don't really have too much to say here other than as the Match Total would suggest it isn't the worst match on this card, if you have been around wrestling long enough you will know this match outlays very well, because it is one of those that has been around since the birth of pro-wrestling [the wrestling industry.] Also individually or together including whom is involved in this match/match slot you know from experience what you get to from them such as for an example Duggan as a Babyface here so he gets his usual positive Crowd Participation, so it is very much a case of this match goes as well as you expected it to go, hence why  I can't see it as a poor match, it is what it is.

RIP James "Kamala”/"The Ugandan Warrior" Harris; 28/05/1950-09/08/2020 sadly he is no longer with us, but he will always be best remembered for these characters

Basic Result: The Dungeon of Doom's ["The Ugandan Warrior" Kamala with The Taskmaster Kevin Sullivan] picks up the W.

Pay-Per-View Rewind of: WCW Bash at the Beach 16/07/1995 Match 2/Part 2 by AverageMansReviews - Spoiler Alarm!

Pay-Per-View Rewind of: WCW Bash at the Beach 16/07/1995 Match 2/Part 2 by AverageMansReviews - Spoiler Alarm!

Disclaimer: I am not or never likely to be a professional wrestler

Background information: we have this interview segment interviewer "Mean" Gene Okerlund where he tells us how this match came to be and then interviews "Mouth of the South" Jimmy Hart and then the WCW World Television Champion The Renegade. Now just to make sure before I said this I would do some research just to make sure I was right and I am; it was an absolute stupid mistake to make this character known as The Renegade [in short for those people that don't know he was a knockoff version of The Ultimate Warrior] which I will stick up for the man behind The Renegade Richard Wilson a little and say this gimmick was doomed to fail from the very second it crossed someone's mind to come up with this gimmick, because the entire Ultimate Warrior was as far as I can see it designed to be adrenaline fuelled untamed passion with a colourful parents with legendary promos which made very little sense, but you understood he was going to run to the ring and give you everything; yes likewise The Ultimate Warrior [James Brian Hellwig] also had a reputation for being a stiff worker [this is wrestling terminology; it means in this case working with him in the ring was going to be a painful experience.]

My point here being The Renegade seems to be a very green all-round wrestler in every sense [this is another wrestling terminology; green means begin or inexperienced or raw talent] so how was he going to exactly come anywhere close to the standard of The Ultimate Warrior? And as I have already made reference to The Ultimate Warrior wasn't exactly perfect and to answer my question he wasn't. You see if you don't come up with a plausible explanation to have essentially a carbon copy with differences such as The Undertaker and Kane or in the mould, but completely different like Sting and Darby Allin in AEW where in essence Sting by working with Darby is saying "He will be an successor to our style of characters after I have held up my bat." Or you can have a parody character like Gillberg [parody of Goldberg,] but as the word "parody" would suggest and generally speaking I wouldn't expect too much from these type characters, even though Gillberg has this legendary status because everyone remembers him and his sparklers.

But back to this pay-per-view the crowd are not buying into The Renegade, because they can see what the hierarchy of the WCW are/were trying to do and one final thing in this section; we have Schiavone in "Mr. Wonderful" Paul Orndorff's telling us again why we are having this match.

Match/Stipulations: "Mr. Wonderful" Paul Orndorff vs. the  WCW World Television Champion The Renegade [with "Mouth of the South" Jimmy Hart:] Singles for the  WCW World Television Championship

Match Attributes:

Match Quality: 1/10

Match Storyline: 1/10

Crowd Participation: 4/10

On Commentary: Tony Schiavone & Bobby "The Brain" Heenan  6/10

Satisfying Conclusion: 1/10

Recommend Watch: 6/10

Match Total: 19/60 - this match is poor

Comments: let's be positive about this match kind of for a couple of seconds; it is so bad hence why in the Recommend Watch category I gave it 6/10, because you just have to see it. I mean based on this one match The Renegade should be absolutely nowhere near a wrestling ring, based on the grounds when he can't even get a single leg drop kick or a dropkick [on commentary they call it a dropkick, this is one of those occasions where if you want to see it as a single or standard dropkick or whatever it was meant to be, I mean you have plenty of times to see this move; he doesn't do it once, he doesn't do it twice, but he does it three different times in this match and each time it just looks awkward; you know it comes across as " Whoops I screwed that one up let me try again." and so on and so forth; even Schiavone points out a good dropkick when Orndorff does a dropkick saying " sending Renegade in [Irish whip into the ropes and catching him on the return] and a dropkick and that was a good one fans, right on target in the face." In hindsight and on reflection I have to see this as a burial from Schiavon aimed at The Renegade, but he isn't wrong. Full disclosure we don't have the best prospective on this dropkick because we are in line with this piece of action as in behind The Renegade taking the dropkick, but having said that what we do see of it; it is a good, solid and reliable dropkick.

Moving on next; now full disclosure I don't know what is being said here, but you can clearly see and very faintly hear/see The Renegade potentially calling the next spot as he has Orndorff in a side headlock standing up [let's just say I think the camera captures this really well; so it exposes a fundamental secret of the wrestling business.]

There is more; the chemistry/character work is just ugly from everyone involved in this match including the Referee [Nick Patrick] how it should have been is Orndorff Heel, The Renegade [with "Mouth of the South" Jimmy Hart] Babyfaces and Nick Patrick neutral.

But the crowd cheers for Orndorff, I mean he told someone in the crowd to shut their mouths and he did the classic Heel tactics of sand in The Renegade's eyes, but they still cheered for Orndorff, usually I would say this would be the crowd aiming or deliberately going against these performers character work, but in this case the crowd are happy to see him as he is a veteran and has been around for a long time so regardless of Babyface or Heel they were just happy to see him in the ring again. On top of that [immediately after the sand has been thrown] we have Heenan saying "Right in the face, right in the eyes this will slow him down." Schiavone follows up with " The referee could have disqualified him right there, but I'm not so sure if Nick Patrick knew what happened there." [Me; I beg to differ Patrick is possibly too close to the action or not in the right spot, yes he is on the opposite/far side to where the sand is being thrown but the fact he shields himself from some of the sand being thrown; yes if you look he turned slightly to protect himself from the sand and yes I know in rehearsals or going through the match backstage he knows it is coming maybe this is speculation on my part, but in a live-action here and now he has no plausible deniability.] But I digress Heenan follows up with "There is a lot that gets passed Nick Patrick and Randy Anderson." So by Heenan discrediting their Referees it gives some deniability because he is absolutely awful at his job; which once again speculation but it also tells me that either Heenan knows or could have just been told over his headset to say this or in fairness and balance Schiavone likewise knows or has just been informed as well to what is coming, you see by using this dialogue on commentary Heenan has either given plausible deniability to Patrick by discrediting him and Anderson which is justified at the end of this match consequently protects Patrick from this complete and utter shower of manure.

Which by the ending of this match makes The Renegade [with "Mouth of the South" Jimmy Hart] Heels, because The Renegade celebrates with the crowd booing [there is some cheering momentarily later on in this match slot,] but it in essence justifies the crowd being on Orndorff 's side with Hart giving him his Championship and his theme music playing with Schiavone and Heenan in short talking about what just happened and replaying it, with Orndorff by default looking as the Babyface; yes don't get me wrong he is still a Heel but as I have just said by default if anyone looks like a Babyface after this match it would be him.

Orndorff goes for his finisher after this match on The Renegade which is the Piledriver and as everyone should know by its reputation is if it goes wrong the effects of this move are life changing, so I was not best pleased to see The Renegade take a relatively short time in real-time, but a long time to do he is part in performing this move. It is a good thing that The Renegade is in the ring with a veteran, because it was Orndorff trying to keep things going and trying to get things done and trying to make The Renegade look good which and his part Orndorff did everything he could.

Basic Result: the WCW World Television Champion The Renegade [with "Mouth of the South" Jimmy Hart] Retains his Championship here.

Now sadly these two competitors are no longer with us so RIP Paul Orndorff Jr. "Mr. Wonderful" Paul Orndorff 29/10/1949-12/07/2021 and RIP Richard "The Renegade" Wilson 19/10/1965-23/02/1999.

Pay-Per-View Rewind of: WCW Bash at the Beach 16/07/1995 Match 1/Part 1 by AverageMansReviews - Spoiler Alarm!

Pay-Per-View Rewind of: WCW Bash at the Beach 16/07/1995 Match 1/Part 1 by AverageMansReviews - Spoiler Alarm!

Disclaimer: I am not or never likely to be a professional wrestler

Chosen by: Me; basically after watching my previous pay-per-view of Pay-Per-View Rewind of: WWE WrestleMania Backlash 16/05/2021 and it being in short hard work to watch and it really took my interest and became more and more like a chore [I will go back to the modern era of wrestling at some point but just for now I will give it a rest,] so I went looking for something which looked like fun and as we are in the summer I eventually settled on this pay-per-view here.

Background information: we have this start of this pay-per-view highlighting these two high-calibre matches in short; Flair vs. Savage in a Lifeguard Match, but the voice-over guy [he says this pay-per-view and this pay-per-view sponsor Slim Jim;] he gets interrupted by Savage [he comes on screen in a square with a Slim Jim moving/repeating graphic] and tells us what he is going to do in this match; also promotes this pay-per-view's sponsor Slim Jim which Savage is also a long, long, incredibly long spokesperson/sponsor of as well. Then the voice-over guy continues with this match Hogan with [Jimmy Hart] Defending his WCW World Heavyweight Championship against Vader in a Steel Cage match with this graphic and sound effect of a cage coming together over the top of these pictures/people on screen; then we have Schiavone and Heenan  welcoming us this pay-per-view and talking about what is in store and building it up, then we move on to this video package with this ominous voice-over guy [I don't know, but I am comfortable to suggest that these two voice-over guys are the one and the same] building up Meng and then this interview with interviewer "Mean" Gene Okerlund and Sting building up this match and crowd. The reason why I am saying all of this is to make this very point; this is how the WWE should begin their pay-per-views, it is quick, yes a lot of information but if they rattle through this information, it should build things up and gives the pay-per-view in question enthusiasm to start with and build upon throughout the rest of it.

Match Total: 42/60 - this match is good

Comments: as I have already said this match is good; it does what it is designed to do and that is get the crowd engaged and up for the action which this pay-per-view has in store and there is no quicker way to achieve this then have a hometown wrestler comes out in this case very close to where this pay-per-view is being held [Huntington Beach, Southern California;] Sting is from Venice Beach California. Now if the WWF/WWE commentary table had said something like this I would have most definitely brought up what I'm about to say, so fair is fair here; it is Schiavone builds up Sting [the connections between these two locations in California, his interview with  Okerlund just before this match] and in Sting's entrance.

So in the ring with introductions going on by this legendary ring announcer in the world of boxing and wrestling Michael Buffer with his likewise legendary and iconic quote of "Let's get rrrrrrrrrrrrrready to rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrummmmblllllllllllle!"And not forgetting he also voiced his own character in a Simpsons Season 8, Episode 3: The Homer They Fall and he has done other film, TV and voice work as well; on a little bit of research we have another ring announcer as well his name is David Penzer. But I digress; Schiavone says "Its certainly a Stinger hometown type crowd and jammed here everywhere from Southern California." I did think this was slightly a bit comical, because as you can see/read it isn't like they haven't made this crystal clear already, so Schiavone says what he says it's like "We have already joined the dots there Schiavone, we get it Sting has come back to his home area." Baywatch gets mentioned on commentary by Schiavone because they are some WCW wrestlers are in an upcoming episode Season 6: Episode 15: Bash at the Beach and they are using some of their camera people on this pay-per-view.

On reflection without giving too much away this match/match slot conclusion could only really end this way, based on Haku the person behind in this case Meng here; has/had made a reputation of being in kayfabe or in real life of being very hard; as in someone that you don't want to massively irritate them, so in a kayfabe sense it is absolutely fine if he no sells any offence/or sells a little or his opponent has to come up with an idea for a quick pin-fall just to pick up the W. Sting tries a Hurricanrana with pin and the wrestling mechanics is okay, but this is speculation it takes both of them to pull off this sequence as this sequence seems to slow down [when you come to watch this match you will know the spot I am talking about, I am not criticising it on one hand I am amazed they pulled it off and safely for those people that have seen this match I know Sting executes the Scorpion Deathlock and yes he to has compensate for Ming/Haku size and mass, but in this spot with this Hurricanrana with pin they really have to work together whilst on the other hand this highlights how well built Ming/Haku. I mean I know I have not seen much of Haku's work with any characters, maybe a grain of salt or not, but to be honest I have I haven’t seen it or I have forgotten, but either way as I have already made reference to his reputation precedes him.

Basic Result: the WCW United States Heavyweight Championship Sting Retains his WCW United States Heavyweight Championship.
