Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull 2008 by AverageMansReviews

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull 2008 by AverageMansReviews

Review Time: now I could give you a long speech about my opinions on this project and don't get me wrong I will tell you some bits and pieces, but generally speaking I just don't like this film.

Cast: this cast is great in this project, every performer performs their characters to a high standard, the dialogue exchanges are a good mixture between what is going on within the scene at that particular time or working out something or genuine conversations about many bits and pieces such as life for an example.

Storyline/Fundamental core: I don't like the storyline, I can't tell you too much but I can tell you this; this film doesn't feel like it is from the Indiana Jones franchise, let me put it this way I can happily watch the first three film titles [when it comes to reviewing them, I will tell you now, they will have a high percentage of approval,] in fact I will go one more step until you I have watched the first three film titles back-to-back in one day at least twice in my lifetime up to this point.

The fundamental core such as the atmosphere controls and the scene consistencies are very start and stop, when it comes to this project I am always aware that I am watching a film title which is roughly 120 minutes long.

Action sequences: these elements are likewise very hit or miss for me; some of them look and feel action-packed whilst others do absolutely nothing for me.

This film receives: 30% approval, this percentage just about feels right, the cast are consistently saying something or doing something on screen, this cast are reliably entertaining but for everything else, it is either not so consistently reliable or just a irritation to the audience's adventure.

Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer 2007 by AverageMansReviews

Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer 2007 by AverageMansReviews

Review Time: to begin this review I will be asking this very simple rhetorical question; I knew this sequel was going to be rubbish, but did The Fantastic Four really have to take The Silver Surfer down with them?

The Silver Surfer/Fantastic Four/Dr. Doom: The Silver Surfer is interesting and I like everything in this project as long as this character is involved on screen, back in the day when this film first came out the only reason I went to go and see this film at the cinema was because of The Silver Surfer and one other character [which I will be discussing later on in this review.] I like this character so much; I am desperate to see him get his own film title.

How can I put this nicely; this character [The Silver Surfer] throughout this title feels and looks like he is being sensible or serious and compared to the rest of the characters [sadly I have to include Dr. Doom in this point as well,] they are continuously attempting to be immature or comical or basically their character developments have not been matured much from the previous film title.

It should be noted I wasn't looking for anything major as it relates to their character developments, but something a little bit more better than what we had in one way or another from these returning characters, you see for at least 95% of this title their character developments are really repetitive and then suddenly, there is one dialogue exchange between two characters, there is one comment that one character maybe maturing and there are some hints towards the last couple of scenes that these characters may or may not be maturing, I would like to tell you that in the third film title we get better rounded characters, but the only problem with this point is there isn't a third film title [so it makes these potential character developments absolutely pointless.]

Galactus: well they really did this character no justice whatsoever, instead of him having this main event ominous stature to him, they firstly make him look like a case of incredibly bad weather is coming to Earth and secondly we don't actually physically see him in this film [minus maybe some shadows and maybe other little details,] yes just for the record I am clutching at straws. But to be fair this film doesn't give me too much to work with in the first place as it relates to this character, I mean he doesn't even speak either which infuriates me.

This film receives: 20% approval, all you need to know about this film is this; The Silver Surfer is the best thing about this project, by some distance and even though it was brief having The Silver Surfer and Galactus on screen was good [yes once again I am clutching at straws,] they should have really spent more time focusing on this relationship, because it would have made this sequel much, much more interesting and on a side note this film took me two sittings in one day to get through it all from beginning to end.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 2014 by AverageMansReviews

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 2014 by AverageMansReviews

Review Time: now it is very rare I do this; but it will make sense in the long run. The only good things to this project are Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker/Spider-Man and Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy, they have good chemistry on screen.

Storyline: now I have gotten the good bits and pieces out of the way with first here we go are you ready for everything else? This storyline has been designed very strongly to suggest that there will be a sequel in the future, but there will not be a sequel based on the fact, this character has been rebooted and they are now doing something different with him.

When I say designed very strongly to suggest there will be a sequel, I will even go one more step and give you a percentage of how much they suggest there will be a sequel, I would say at least 80% of this project either tells its audiences enough information or in one way or another leaves things open for the sequel to pick them up and continue them in the next project [these storyline elements are big and they needed another film title to explain everything.]

It actually took me two sittings to get through this project in one day, even as just a film title this film goes on for too long, it is roughly 142 minutes long. I have to be honest my interest in this project ran out roughly 65 minutes in, so the remaining time was hard work for me, in fact if my memory is correct this would be the only second time I have seen this title once a the cinema and once today so I could do this review.

Special-effects/Action sequences: they are nothing special for me.

Enemies: now I have no idea what they were doing with these enemies of Spider-Man, at least one of them feels very last minute and the other two are irritating, because they are either complaining or moaning about something or seeking revenge which in turn [makes these characters very boring.]

This film receives: 16% approval, I don't know what to say about this film title, because I have either said it already or you at least get what I'm trying to say, so I will finish off by saying; generally speaking this sequel is really poor.

He-Man and the Masters of the Universe 83 -- 85 [Volume 4] Episode 20: Dawn of Dragoon by AverageMansReviews

He-Man and the Masters of the Universe 83 -- 85 [Volume 4] Episode 20: Dawn of Dragoon by AverageMansReviews

Review Time: I don't know which is worse the fact that this episode has been based around Orko or there is no Skeletor but there are some references to him, the character which is the enemy in this episode does okay and if I had to pick a character to make at least one more appearance in this series, this character would be it, because with a better episode which has more things going on, I think, they could get more out of this character.

Prince Adam/He-Man and Cringer/Battle Cat: the audience gets to see a good mixture between these four characters [yes I am aware that technically this is one person and one creature,] but as they kind of timeshare this episode it makes sense for me to bring up all four characters and yes these four characters are the strongest assets to this episode.

Between these four characters there are excellent, action sequences as Prince Adam and Cringer are dealing with things in their own ways to begin with and then obviously He-Man and Battle Cat do things their way. I can't tell you too much more than that because that would be too much information, but what I can say is this; this was an interesting way to get Prince Adam and Cringer some screen time [to show off more of their personalities and other bits and pieces.]

Ending message: is roughly; talk about your problems with family or friends.

This episode receives: 44% approval, this percentage is to highlight the fact this episode has been based around Orko which as everyone should know by now this character just annoys me, as I have already shown in this review there are some really good bits to it, in actual fact when I was watching this episode, I was saying to myself "Good bit, tedious bit and then repeating the cycle good bit, tedious bit."

Captain Phillips 2013 by AverageMansReviews

Captain Phillips 2013 by AverageMansReviews

Review Time: this film is very good.

Subtitles: they are very irritating, because they are either too quick on or off screen or sometimes the text clashes depending on what colour is underneath them [yes I may have reading difficulties, but I miss the old film titles that use big text in either a black box or a very thick black line are around the words, I may have said this in other reviews when subtitles are in effect, but still it is a valid point nonetheless.

Cast: all seem to understand their characters really well, including the atmosphere in this very volatile situation as every performer either the instigators of this situation or the seamen trying to transport these goods. The crew: their reactions to this situation are firstly appropriate and secondly how this crew adapts to this situation has been really well shown.

I do like how each performer just goes with the intensity as it relates to feeding off the emotions and the atmosphere in every scene and when the situation changes everything changes with it as well, so throughout this film its audiences feel just a little bit of what these characters are going through at the same time.

This film receives: 73% approval, now taking everything into consideration I did like this film, but the subtitles are very distracting, as I was trying to work out what had just been said, it interrupts the flow of the film for me [on a side note I should just say there is nothing wrong with my eyes,] but having this style of text on screen does me no favours whatsoever

He-Man and the Masters of the Universe 83 -- 85 [Volume 4] Episode 19: Quest for He-Man by AverageMansReviews

He-Man and the Masters of the Universe 83 -- 85 [Volume 4] Episode 19: Quest for He-Man by AverageMansReviews

Review Time: this episode is excellent, but did they really have to use Orko in this episode, I would most definitely consider him to be the only problem throughout this adventure.

Artistic visions: they are amazing and they have great imagination to them every scene has a little something to see or to experience.

Fundamental core: the scene consistencies and the atmosphere controls hit the ground running straightaway until this episode ends.

Characters: there are many characters being used in this episode and putting Orko to one side for a minute, every character brings something to the table, so in a nutshell mixing these many characters with this fundamental core [if we were to see the fundamental core as an NFL football, every character has their moments with their hands on the ball, but they are prepared to throw the ball short or long for another character to pick it up and move it on.]

Action sequences: they are highly entertaining and action-packed.

Ending message: is roughly something to the effect of; we should all try to protect our environment.

This episode receives: 80% approval, I really wanted to give this episode a higher percentage of approval, but I don't mean to repeat myself, but Orko is so annoying.

Crank: High Voltage 2009 by AverageMansReviews

Crank: High Voltage 2009 by AverageMansReviews

Review Time: this sequel is rubbish.

Action sequences/Mature comedy flavours: these action sequences do nothing for me whatsoever in fact these action-packed sequences don't feel like they have been taken seriously, because there are some action-packed sequences in this project that have this very annoying comedy undertone, where in the 2006 film title, the action-packed sequences felt real, because they firstly for a majority of the time kind of ran-off one another [occasionally taking a little break to develop the storyline or something needed to be shown in the film] and secondly the mature comedy flavours were heavily based in the dialogue exchanges [with a very quick deliverance which in turn gave these comments an element of realism, but still they were funny at the same time,] but from an overview perspective, the audience could see and feel every element pulling in the same direction and not forgetting it had these quick rotations [something like this; action, dialogue exchange, possibly mature comedy reference, dialogue exchange, action, storyline, action, dialogue exchange, mature comedy reference and many other things.]

I should just quickly point this out, my example may be relatively slow, but if you were to add lots of speed, atmosphere controls and scene consistencies, you kind of get a close idea of what the 2006 project looked like and felt like.

But as it relates to this project instead of assisting one another every element is just fighting to get their moments on screen [in a nutshell this film does not have a good or even a reliable foundation to work from.]

Subtitles/Background music: the subtitles are just too quick on and off screen [so I didn't have enough time to read them.] The background music is loud and noisy.

Chester Bennington: honourable mention, he appears in both of these film titles.

This film receives: 5% approval, I found this film to be an irritation to watch, basically it has none of the qualities of the 2006 film title.

The Last Boy Scout 1991 by AverageMansReviews

The Last Boy Scout 1991 by AverageMansReviews

Review Time: this film is one of those kinds of projects that you can watch once in a while and it will entertain you.

Bruce Willis and Damon Wayans Sr.: have consistently great chemistry on screen, in fact I would go one more step further and say this would be the strongest asset to this project, basically without saying too much we have two characters from two different worlds, one is an older cynical person, whilst the other is younger and he is discovering that life may indeed keep giving him more downs than ups, it is how he chooses to get through them that matters.

Action sequences: plenty of weapons being used and explosions.

Mature comedy flavours: the only comedy elements I can make reference to in this review, would be the puppet sequences they are funny. Yes just for the record the other comedy elements are funny as well, but because they are of mature or adult meanings or varieties I cannot put them here.

Halle Berry as Cory: honourable mention, it is always good to see Halle Berry in a film title.

This film receives: 78% approval, this film is good and it has an excellent partnership in Bruce and Damon to take their audiences in for a touchdown.

He-Man and the Masters of the Universe 83 -- 85 [Volume 3] Episode 18: Creatures from the Tar Swamp by AverageMansReviews

He-Man and the Masters of the Universe 83 -- 85 [Volume 3] Episode 18: Creatures from the Tar Swamp by AverageMansReviews

Review Time: this episode is a mixed bag, yes some elements of the storyline have been based around Orko and then just before the second half of this episode, it focuses on something different [without giving too much away,] Skeletor takes over the majority of the storyline. Orko and his storyline takes a backseat, don't get me wrong it is still there but it is just in the background which I have to say is a good thing, because Orko's storyline wasn't going anywhere particularly quick.

Action sequences: these elements are entertaining especially when the audience sees this massive creature which is very strong and presents a good challenge for He-Man and his associates and from an overview perspective every action-packed sequence has something to offer in one way or another.

Ending message: well it is something like this; you don't have to buy things, so people will be your friend, just be yourself and people will want to be your friend.

This episode receives: 60% approval, how can I put this really nicely; as soon as Skeletor takes over a heavy amount of this episode, it instantaneously becomes a much better episode.

He-Man and the Masters of the Universe 83 -- 85 [Volume 3] Episode 17: Daimar the Demon by AverageMansReviews

He-Man and the Masters of the Universe 83 -- 85 [Volume 3] Episode 17: Daimar the Demon by AverageMansReviews

Review Time: this episode is boring [an Orko based episode.]

Artistic visions: now to be fair the artistic visions throughout this episode are wonderful, as it shows Eternia going through this transformation with massive consequences.

Action sequences: these are another very good element to this episode, especially after the half way point, they seem to find their rhythm more consistently and get better and better.

Ending message: it is something to the effect of, if you have any problems talk about them.

This episode receives: 37% approval, yes absolutely I did say this episode is boring, but there are some good elements to this episode, there just aren't enough of them though.

He-Man and the Masters of the Universe 83 -- 85 [Volume 3] Episode 16: Reign of the Monster by AverageMansReviews

He-Man and the Masters of the Universe 83 -- 85 [Volume 3] Episode 16: Reign of the Monster by AverageMansReviews

Review Time: this episode has a real identity to it, as soon as this episode begins it just swiftly rotates from scene to scene I should just quickly point out the only downside to this episode is Orko's elements. Because this episode is action-packed, quite serious as it relates to the storyline and many other little bits and pieces, then we have Orko being Orko, he just sticks out like a sore thumb.

Characters/Action sequences: the audience gets to see many characters throughout this episode, but on top of that we get to see a different selection of characters in multiple places [so for an example in one location we have a selection of characters handling this situation, was in another location we have a different selection of characters handling another situation and so on and so forth.]

The action-packed sequences are impactful as every scene means something in this episode anyway but more so when the action-packed sequences are present, they have great imagination to them, here are just some examples of what I mean battling outside Greyskull and some air sequences.

Ending message: it is something to the effect of this: don't eat anything, if you don't know what it is, go and ask someone first

This episode receives: 97% approval, this episode has many wonderful elements to offer, I just had to take off a little bit for Orko's elements, but besides that this episode is lots of fun.

Iron Man 2008 by AverageMansReviews

Iron Man 2008 by AverageMansReviews

Review Time: this film is highly entertaining; I can't criticize it, because it does exactly what it says as its title "Iron Man."

Storyline: this is a perfect example of how an origin storyline should be told, it has everything that needs to be in it and it has lots of momentum, so every scene or sequence just quickly and smoothly rotates from one sequence or scene to the next and so on and so forth.

Action sequences/Comedy elements: are well placed throughout and they offer different little bits and pieces [to illustrate to their audiences that every action-packed sequence has been given a little care and attention,] so in a nutshell sometimes the audience gets to see ground to ground or air to ground or air to air combat sequences [mix in a comedy element in some sequences,] the comedy elements are something smart and elegant, as if the action-packed sequences and the comedy elements are working as one cohesive unit , instead of being two separate elements.

Cast/Comedy flavours: the cast are brilliant, everyone knows their characters inside and out, their dialogue exchanges off one another give the impression that these conversations seem very natural, including some comedy back and forth moments.

This film receives: 100% approval, I should just point out this film has been shown great care and attention throughout, I have seen this film many times throughout the years and I still get the same pleasure from it in 2017.

[It is confession time, in the interest of fairness, where I said in one of my previous reviews of today, where I made reference to myself watching a film title into different sittings because the film itself was not that good to begin with, but in this case I had to stop the film just to change rooms, it is not the same thing.]

Hulk 2003 by AverageMansReviews

Hulk 2003 by AverageMansReviews

Review Time: now there is one thing I want to make absolutely clear from the beginning of this review, I like this character [Hulk,] so with that being said I really, really, truly do not like this film.

Split screens/Memory recalls/Special-effects: well the list I have just listed off does absolutely nothing for me, in fact all it does is it reminds me never to watch this project again [it is confession time it took me two sittings to get through this project in one day and secondly the only reason I watched this project again was so that I could do this review.]

Action sequences: yes they are big and loud, but once again they didn't stimulate my interest at all, I actually found them to be quite annoying, because throughout these sequences you can see Hulk in some kind of discomfort and this should not be the case [because they are just shooting him with military weapons.]

In fact he should have been getting more and more stronger as he obviously became more and more angrier and sometimes the audience gets to see what I mean, but not every single time [it is like an afterthought as it relates to Hulk's personality traits.]

Cast: they all try to give this project some kind of momentum or enthusiasm as best as they can, but with all the negative elements which I have discussed in this review including the fact that this film project is roughly 138 minutes long, the cast are having to carry this film at every stage until the ending credits.

This film receives: 4% approval, as I have already said I just really don't like this film [when this review goes out it will be at the beginning of the Summer holidays 2017, so if you are struggling to find things to do with your children and they are in the right age bracket, take them through the legendary Incredible Hulk TV program from 1978 to 82.

But this version of him [Bill Bixby and Lou Ferrignois] is legendary. Yes for those argumentative people out there in Internet land I have no problems with the version of Bruce Banner/Hulk currently being used in the MCU [Marvel Cinematic Universe] performed by Mark Ruffalo.

He-Man and the Masters of the Universe 83 -- 85 [Volume 3] Episode 15: A Beastly Sideshow by AverageMansReviews

He-Man and the Masters of the Universe 83 -- 85 [Volume 3] Episode 15: A Beastly Sideshow by AverageMansReviews

Review Time: this episode is really, really slow [so much so the opening section to this episode is boring.]

Snake Mountain: now every aspect around this location is interesting, entertaining and the episode actually wakes up as soon as we see or do anything in this landscape on a consistent basis. The artistic flavours are intimidating and beautifully designed to show off different areas of Snake Mountain.

He-Man/Cringer/Battle Cat: whilst we are in this location, these three characters share some good sequences, including dialogue exchanges and action-packed sequences, how can I put this; it makes a pleasant change to see Cringer getting a little bit more involved in this episode than he normally does in other episodes [do I really have to point out that Cringer and Battle Cat don't share any dialogue exchanges because they are the same creature, in a nutshell one has a soft nature whilst the other is very much up for a battle.] But if I have to, I just made that point crystal clear.

Ending message: is something to the effect of having the courage to say No

This episode receives: 60% approval, I have to highlight at some point Skeletor puts in a good showing, when he is actually physically on screen [like I said in any review I wouldn't tell you all the good bits or the bad bits.] But to be fair there was a point in this episode, where the percentage of approval was looking like maybe 12%, so taking everything into consideration 60% looks and feels just about right.
