Pay-Per-View Rewind of: WCW: Hog Wild
10/08/1996 Match 1/Part 1 by AverageMansReviews - Spoiler Alarm!
Chosen by: Me: just because why not,
because WCW Bash at the Beach 16/07/1995; generally speaking because this was
positively entertaining, I would go for another WCW pay-per-view.
Disclaimer: I have never been or are likely
to be a professional wrestler.
Background information: to begin this pay-per-view we have voice-over by Tony Schiavone; a little bit about Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, since 1938 the motorcycle rally of the world [yes we are outside again for this pay-per-view, but this time instead of the beach we have motorcycles.] Then we have Tony Schiavone in the middle of "The American Dream" Dusty Rhodes on the right hand Bobby "The Brain" Heenan on the left [with "Iron" Mike Tenay joining them just before this first match.] But this trio building up The N.W.O's [“Mr. Hollywood “ Hulk Hogan] vs. the: WCW's the WCW World Heavyweight Champion [Dungeon Of Doom's The Giant with Jimmy Hart:] Singles Match for the WCW Heavyweight Championship and then N.W.O's [The Outsiders Kevin Nash & Scott Hall] taking on WCW's Lex Luger & Sting: Tag Team Match.
After this match; after watching the
replay of the closing stages of this match with Heenan recalling it. Schiavone
handing things over to Okerlund. [Tenay leaving the commentary area with
Schiavone saying "Thanks a lot Mike." "Mean"
Gene Okerlund in short promotes/advertise that they have a hotline with Tenay
and himself to discuss this pay-per-view and the world of professional
wrestling after this pay-per-view then it gets handed back to Schiavone from
Okerlund so he can talk about Sturgis Motorcycle Rally with Heenan
and Rhodes.
Match/Stipulations: The
Ultimate Dragon [with Sonny Onoo] vs. the WCW World Cruiserweight Champion Rey
Misterio, Jr.: Singles Match for the WCW World Cruiserweight Championship.

Schiavone, Bobby "The Brain" Heenan & "Iron" Mike Tenay
10/10
Satisfying Conclusion: 10/10
Recommend Watch: 10/10
Match Total: 60/60 - this match is top-notch
entertainment.
Comments: this match is worth of receiving
full marks, because individually or together with who
these two competitors are you wouldn't expect anything less and on top of that
as this match is/was a Cruiserweight Match in this case specifically for the
WCW World Cruiserweight Championship, as everyone should know which is old
enough or been around wrestling long enough back in this timeframe the WCW used
their Cruiserweight Division two kickoff their pay-per-view's with a lively
encounter and atmosphere to engage their audience and to give this pay-per-view
in question a positive atmosphere and enthusiasm to build on for the rest of
this pay-per-view and once again back in this timeframe it was one of the best
Cruiserweight Divisions/Championship around.
There is only one ever so tiny botch; it is where Dragon performs this
Upside Down Surfboard or in Mexico it is known as a Rito Romero Special, but as
this move is being set up on Misterio [very
tiny amount of time, look for the near foot to begin with when the camera shot
is on this site, but on the far side when it switches perspectives,] Dragon
or Misterio or both of them lose footing
on where the foot should be, in a nutshell you are looking for Misterio's leg
sticking out somewhere it shouldn't be. But this is how masterful these two
wrestlers are at wrestling; Misterio smoothly just turns this into
two pin-fall attempts to make this look like a smooth sequence and just to
continue this match and to make this very tiny moment a glitch and nothing
more.
The quick and general dynamic of our
commentary team for this pay-per-view or match as it relates to Tenay. "The
American Dream" Dusty Rhodes [Babyface,] Tony Schiavone [Linchpin of normalcy/Referee between Rhodes and Heenan; yes Schiavone makes reference to
being the Referee or something to that effect between these two at some point
during this first match so I went with it as well, Bobby "The
Brain" Heenan [Heel] and "Iron"
Mike Tenay [The Encyclopaedia of Wrestling;] for an example he told us about this Upside Down Surfboard or in Mexico it is known as a Rito
Romero Special, so I can't take credit for it, yes I have seen this move being
performed but I couldn't remember it's name and I didn't know about its Mexican
name.
Basic Result: the WCW World Cruiserweight Champion
Rey Misterio, Jr. Retains his WCW World Cruiserweight Championship here.
