Warning:
there is flashing effects/colourful effects/vehicle crash/references to racism,
Soviet Union and Russia.
1961 to 1965: basically; we meet Bob Dylan/other names [Timothée
Chalamet:] he is a very talented musician/songwriter and he is came to New York
City to meet Woody Guthrie [Scoot McNairy:] he once was a country/other genres
musician and songwriter, but at this point he had declining health so he was in
hospital where Dylan went to see him and whilst he was there he also met Pete Seeger [Edward Norton:] he was good
friends with Guthrie and likewise he was a country/other genres musician and
songwriter as well. Where they both heard Dylan play and especially Seeger as
this film will show did I would say more than his fair share to get Dylan on my
way to stardom
Generally speaking: the script; well was that it? It honestly only covers
roughly 1961 to 1965 how about the rest of his career? I mean you are expecting
your viewers of your project to know the ins and outs of Bob Dylan and for 140
minutes of a film project it doesn't go too far, the only reason that we know
of the years is because it either tells us on-screen or indicates it in scenery
and then right at the end we get more words on screen, but putting that all to
one side for a minute; I mean if you want to use the present as in here and now
drifty approach then it is good.
Art;
the set designs, wardrobe and everything else is of the most highest qualities.
Character
developments and performances; the character developments are good if this is
what they were going for; I mean Dylan definitely comes over as a penis so I'm
not sure if this is what they were going for here as not to give too much away
but enough to make my point; as he goes between two women and then pretty much
raises a fingered gesture to the people that back him at the beginning of his
career, but the cast of performers that is what makes this film everyone did
their part in this film to live
This film receives: 5/10, this film is mixed; I mean don't get me wrong I
understand why this film is getting all these awards, especially on the acting
side of things. I'm not sure if this is
what they were going for here or not, it also has to be said I am not a fan of
this new age biography filmmaking in most cases; here are some examples of
films that spring to mind Bob Marley: One Love 2024, Piece by Piece 2024 [based
on Pharrell Williams: which I did want to see this film at the cinema I just
couldn't find a suitable time: it comes to us via Lego and the only reason that
this film is in this list, is because it shows I am open to change as it
relates to filmmaking and their styles] and Better Man [based on Robin Williams
- the singer and not actor, which I have no interest in seeing as it comes to
us via Williams being a monkey via motion caption: which I say no thanks to
that, if you can't take your own film seriously then why should I? I am aware
that other critics have praised this film, but at the end of the day all what
matters is the green of money and this film has of this content being first
created only just made over $12 million at the box office from a budget of $110
million.
But back to this film has quite a few awards to its name such as 15 Winners that includes but not limited to Boston Society of Film Critics Awards 2024 BSFC Award Best Actor Timothée Chalamet and from the same award ceremony/event Best Supporting Actor Edward Norton. 93 Nominees which includes but not limited to also Las Vegas Film Critics Society Awards 2024 Sierra Award Best Supporting Actress Elle Fanning as Sylvie Russo: she is Dylan's girlfriend after arriving in New York City, she is a very wholesome woman. Screen Actors Guild Awards 2025 Actor Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role Monica Barbaro as Joan Baez: she is a musician in her own right and activist, she is also another love interest of Dylan's [to cover my back here; I should just point out I am just working with what I've seen from this film and nothing more] and from the same award ceremony/event Actor Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture Monica Barbaro Norbert Leo Butz Timothée Chalamet Elle Fanning Dan Fogler Will HarrisonEriko HatsuneBoyd Holbrook Scoot McNairyBig Bill Morganfield Edward Norton
