The Transformers 1984 -- 1987 [Season 2, Volume 2, Disc 2] Episode 32: The Master Builders by AverageMansReviews

The Transformers 1984 -- 1987 [Season 2, Volume 2, Disc 2] Episode 32: The Master Builders by AverageMansReviews

Review Time: this episode is excellent.

Character developments: these are really well managed in one way or another in this episode, firstly the Constructicons and these two Autobots [Grapple and Hoist] and secondly in a different situation Megatron and the Constructicons are having this brief friction. I can't really say too much more than that, because the storyline of this episode explains these elements.

Action sequences/Artistic visions: on both counts these two elements are excellent; Devastator takes on the Autobots [there are other Decepticons in this sequence is well,] but how Devastator accidentally puts his foot through this technological construction and he does other things in this sequence.

This episode receives: 9/10, this episode offers so much; because I haven't said this for some time, I may as well say it now on anything I review I never tell you everything, it has never been my way simply based on; I have never been too keen on people telling me the best or the interesting bits of any project before I see it just for the record I don't mind little bits here and there, I am specifically talking to the level of something like this; the family ties in the perfect age of the first Star Wars trilogy and as you can see I have even chosen my words very carefully just in case you have not seen this trilogy and you want to, this is why I never say too much and there is always a possibility I may forget something or something like this; but back to this episode it is excellent.

The Transformers 1984 -- 1987 [Season 2, Volume 2, Disc 2] Episode 31: Dinobot Island: Part 2 by AverageMansReviews

The Transformers 1984 -- 1987 [Season 2, Volume 2, Disc 2] Episode 31: Dinobot Island: Part 2 by AverageMansReviews

Review Time: this episode is good.

Character developments: in this episode we have two different kinds of character developments, without giving too much away Starscream and Megatron are having this dialogue exchange where in a nutshell Starscream is right and the second character developments are; now is it me or are there many new characters in one way or another in this episode, I mean don't get me wrong now and again they do drop them in with a push, but in this episode it seems to feel like they are more like bombarding the viewers with a number of new characters/merchandise, it should be stated that I am not criticizing this; but I am just pointing out how it feels and how it may look, but then again I could be wrong about this or I have just missed something, but in fairness and balance at least it freshens things up.

Action sequences: generally speaking these elements do a lot for most parts [briefly there are moments without the Autobots the Decepticons or the Dinobots. But roughly in the final quarter it does feel like this episode is going out on a strong ending, so much so I had to readjust my mark that I originally had for this episode.

This episode receives: 7/10, as I have already said this episode is good.

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time 2010 by AverageMansReviews

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time 2010 by AverageMansReviews

Review Time: this title is poor.

Fundamental elements: there are voice-over elements, cultural elements, slow-motion effects, background music, mental imagery, a number and words on screen, time jumps and place jumps.

Here is a slightly more in-depth look at the fundamental elements, they don't exactly make this project quick and smooth, this film needed to be quicker or at a bare minimum have a consistent medium to light footing to it so hopefully by doing this it would have hopefully created a get up-and-go atmosphere to it or let's just say if this project wanted to be heavy footed in places then so be it, but give it a quick transition phase so it can go up or down throughout the gears at a drop of a hat depending where you are or what they wanted to do at that specific point in this title.

Action sequences:  there are weapons being used including this one sequence, where our lead role has some assistance to walk or run up this wall with a wooden pole and another character holding the other end/then this sequence turns into another character shooting arrows so our lead role can climb this wall, I should just point out this is a rough description of this sequence.

Performances/Character developments: I don't know what to make of these elements, what I mean by this would be the following; in the interest of fairness and balance I think it would be a mixture between the fundamental elements, the performances and the character developments or possibly may be other little bits and pieces which I have forgotten about, to why or how this film has turned out this way.

In short to begin with; the performances range from poor to mixed [or the performer in question was possibly making something out of what was given to them.] Now I can go a little bit more in-depth on reflection there are some occasions where there are connections between these characters in one way or another, but then again there are some occasions where the connection isn't as noticeable with the same characters or with other characters there are moments and it's like or something like it takes a step backwards in their connection even though we are moving forward in this project [and no I am not talking about the rewinding elements, this will make more sense when you come to watch this title,] I am just talking in a general sense.

There's more on top of that, from an over view perspective these characters consistently fall into their stereotypes, a paint by numbers that kind of thing.

This film receives: 2/10, let's begin this paragraph on a brief positive which I haven't discussed yet, in a nutshell yes now and again this film looks nice, but moving on now this was my first time of seeing this project and as you can see I am far from keen on it.

A Man Apart 2003 by AverageMansReviews

A Man Apart 2003 by AverageMansReviews

Review Time: this project is mixed.

Fundamental elements: there are voice-over elements, cultural elements, slow-motion effects, words on screen, yes and no to subtitles being used, mental imagery, background music, time jumps and place jumps.

Now usually I don't say this too often or at the very least this directly, I have to say that the fundamental elements have or had a big impact on the marking of this film, which I will discuss later but for now I can say this; the fundamental elements really made this project hard work to watch and sucked a large amount of my interest out of this title.

If I had to pinpoint one thing for you to look out for there are so many place jumps that may have words on screen or not I can't remember too well, that this film is back-and-forth over there, back over here and so on and so forth, yes when it settles down it is something kind of solid, but then again I can't remember if when it settles down if it remains settle down or not.

Action sequences: there are weapons being used and explosions and those kinds of things.

Performances: now for most parts they range from poor to mixed, it is always good to see Timothy Olyphant in a project [of what projects I have seen this performer in, he either stands out or does something with the material he has been given or is a reliable performer] and for our lead performer Vin Diesel, he leads this film with his larger-than-life stage presence, now I was thinking of how to put this nicely, but I may as well just come out and say it; he carries this project for heavy amount of the time, in fact when Olyphant and Diesel are on screen together in fairness and balance this is when the project is going through one of its better moments. On a quick positive side note if these two performers were contracted to another film title together, I wouldn't mind seeing that as long as they were put in two main character roles.

This film receives: 4/10, like I said earlier I would discuss a little bit more about the fundamental elements in short based on these there are different sections of this title where I could give different marks, because when this film settles down or something like this then it is workable on many levels and not forgetting I can only give one mark. But it is worthwhile mentioning again, because this project sucked my interest out quickly and early on, maybe it was fighting an up-hill battle just for the record I am not making any excuses I'm just trying to give you a balanced review.

The Transformers 1984 -- 1987 [Season 2, Volume 2, Disc 2] Episode 30: Dinobot Island: Part 1 by AverageMansReviews

The Transformers 1984 -- 1987 [Season 2, Volume 2, Disc 2] Episode 30: Dinobot Island: Part 1 by AverageMansReviews

Review Time: this episode is good.

Storyline/Character developments/Action sequences: this is the first part of a two-parter storyline, which generally speaking it has been designed to develop the characters collectively known as the Dinobots [there are other things happening as well.] This episode shows in one way or another that individually or in different numbers or collectively these characters are not bad or unpleasant, they are just big in size which can turn into them being clumsy which sometimes they may not mean to be, but their hearts are in the right place or at least their hearts have the best intentions amongst other things. Now on to the action sequences at some point in this episode we see the Dinobots individually or together training their abilities or skills.

Artistic visions: now here are two examples; Spike Witwicky is hanging on to or climbing to sit on these two Dinobots into different situations the first one is [Swoop, transformed state of Pteranodon] and the second one is [Sludge, transformed state of Apatosaurus] and they have done a great job of putting over to the audience how big these Dinobots are, because Spike is very small in comparison yes before anyone says that any human is small compared to all of these characters generally speaking, but in these two examples they are subtly making this point from where the camera angles are situated, close-up or close enough to make this point [these are just two rough descriptions for you to look out for whilst you are watching this episode.]

This episode receives: 7/10, this is a good episode and I should point out some things like; there are some flashing lights things happening and if you are choosing to watch this episode with your children there is an element which could be seen as death, these characters will be fine but based on here and now some children could see this as death and if I have gotten these things wrong I'm just going to say I am just pointing out these things and nothing more.

The Transformers 1984 -- 1987 [Season 2, Volume 2, Disc 2] Episode 29: The Insecticon Syndrome by AverageMansReviews

The Transformers 1984 -- 1987 [Season 2, Volume 2, Disc 2] Episode 29: The Insecticon Syndrome by AverageMansReviews

Review Time: this episode is lots of fun.

Character developments: well the character developments play a big role in this episode in one way or another, now usually yes I would give you one or maybe more examples of this, but this time around I have just chosen to say this; there are either willing alliances or no choice alliances [this will make better sense when or if you choose to watch this episode.]

Action sequences/Artistic visions: Soundwave is spying on the Insecticons or another example of the action sequences is where we have  Optimus Prime and Megatron performing this double team where Optimus Prime and Megatron are firstly kind of trying to transform [Megatron into his transformed mode of Walther P38,] yes Megatron can transform himself but I think in this situation it has been designed to show that Megatron has taken some damage and he needs a little bit of assistance from Optimus Prime to transform and then secondly when the viewers see these two leaders working with one another in any way shape or form it should be seen as highly entertaining and it looks fantastic whenever these situations arises in this TV series with these two iconic characters on the same page for a little while.

This episode receives: 10/10, as I have already said this episode is lots of fun and after everything is said and done I came up with this mark.

Strays 1997 by AverageMansReviews

Strays 1997 by AverageMansReviews

Review Time: this project is poor

Fundamental elements: there are voice-over elements, cultural elements, slow-motion effects, mental imagery, background music which I have to say is noticeable, time jumps and place jumps.

Storyline: I have no idea what I am going to say about this title; I mean yes this project has substance, but for the audience to see this substance you have to look way, way past the other things or look deep, deep down at the heart of this film to see what it is all about, but then again it doesn't help the situation where there are giant question-marks over this title, here are just some examples of what I mean; what happened next or do these two characters meet again and there is more to the lead female character what is it [yes in one way or another we get told or shown bits and pieces but that is about it,] did she go to the wedding or what happened at the wedding.

Performances/Character developments: they are mostly poor, there is chemistry between the main relationship [male lead character and the lead female character,] which this relationship does a lot for this title, there is substance here. Now briefly I will be discussing these two performers individually; firstly the female lead character/performer seems comfortable on screen with other performers in one way or another [what I mean by this is she may be on the telephone,] there is also substance here. Now moving on to our lead performer/character he shows his skills and talents in this performance which he does show a little bit of everything including singing, but there is substance here. I think without being harsh this performer shows he has a lot of potential, but maybe needs experience in being projects. I am not trying to sound too harsh, because nowadays this performer continuously gets work and people come to the cinema to see his films or to hear him.

This film receives: 2/10, now there is a reason why I have kept pointing out there is substance here and there, it is so that I can say this; away from the substance of this film everything else is poor I just wanted to make sure I put across in this review that there are things to look out for and it should be noted it could be the performers or the background music, but there are some moments where it could be one or the other or I'm just going to cover my back and say both at the same time just in case I missed something, where the dialogue exchange in question is difficult to hear or something like this.
