Review Time

Okay, I wanted a close shave, but that was extremely to close: briefly; we meet Benjamin Barker/Sweeney Todd/Mr. T. [Johnny Depp:] as he comes back to London with revenge on his mind against in particular Judge Turpin [Alan Rickman:] a Judge that had him imprisoned so that he could steal his life, but Sweeney comes back to the finding his tools and to cook up revenge with a woman by the name of  Mrs. Lovett [Helena Bonham Carter:] she owns and manages her own Pie Shop, which is struggling because she doesn't have a wide selection of fillings, but maybe they could help one another out.

Generally speaking: art; well straight away from the outset we have a tremendous and I will only say this once graphic opening credits sequence of events; basically in a nutshell it shows you bits of the film in an artistic interpretation, the storyline/script is excellent it uses the outlay of storyline to musical number and back again outlay, including; to begin with we have the musical number "The Worst Pies in London" sung by Bonham Carter; as she basically highlights she is fully aware that her pies at the worst in London, because she has no proper ingredients with comical lyrics, but I'm going to point out what Todd/Depp does here, he tries to discreetly spit out the pie, or my favourite musical number entitled "My Friends" sung by Depp and Bonham Carter; in a nutshell; he is showing an element of crucial character wrinkle to him; as he sings about missing his only true friends [his artist accessories; shaving blades, they now have a job to do and his arm is now complete, while Bonham Carter sings about being Todd friend, so keeping this in mind the framework and pacing of this 116 minutes film consequently is going to be excellent.

Art, comedy and action; it is very clear to see that the entire presentation of this film is vitally important be it the location designs, set designs, wardrobe, accessories and anything other; throughout this film has a very dark intoxicating tone that doesn't let up and indeed progress gets worse; in an sensational manner, for another piece of comedy which I can mention; we have a shaving competition and for the dark art and action which I can reference; now and again we do get some blood splatter on the camera lens, but broadly speaking now the blood components of this movie is fantastically engaging, as you never quite know how much we are going to get.

Character developments, art and performances; the character developments are strongly defined on who they are meant to be; there is another elegant and smart character wrinkle for Todd; now and again we get him looking or seeing his reflection in this cracked mirror as he is communicating things in one way or another; I could be wrong here, but I'm going to go with it anyway; that this is symbolic; for his broken mental stability or/and personality as we see roughly speaking little bits of him in this cracked mirror or something to that effect, so consequently this is a very strong assembled cast of characters and performances; I am not taking anything away from this class; but then again it really does help when you have your main three key characters being portrayed by three massively established names in Depp, Bonham Carter and Rickman; because their experienced performers, they know how to powerful without being dominating unless it is time to do so or have fantastic synergy with whomever they are working with on that scene at that time.

This film receives: 10/10, this film is top-notch entertainment; in my opinion this is part of modern cinema classic for everything I have made reference to in this content and no surprise here but this film has quite a few awards accredited to its name such as 34 Winners which include but not limited to Academy Awards, USA 2008 Oscar Best Achievement in Art Direction Dante Ferretti (art director) Francesca Lo Schiavo (set decorator) and Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films, USA 2008 Saturn Award Best Horror Film, 77 Nominees which also includes but not limited to back to the Academy Awards for 2008 Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role Johnny Depp [altogether this film has 2 Oscar nominees to its name] and Critics Choice Awards 2008  Critics Choice Award Best Acting Ensemble Helena Bonham Carter Johnny Depp Sacha Baron Cohen Laura Michelle Kelly Ed Sanders Timothy Spall Alan Rickman Jamie Campbell Bower Jayne Wisener
