In 1930: briefly: we are in the era of probation; where Al Capone [Robert De Niro:] the top guy running the racket on alcohol in and out of America; so it is up to Eliot Ness [Kevin Costner:] he works for the Federal Treasury Department and his job is to bring down Capone; eventually he is the leader of a small group that will become known as "The Untouchables": another member of this group is Jim Malone [Sean Connery:] he is a highly experienced beat cop [this basically means; he walks the streets on his beat;] that always has an interesting thing to say or/and an interesting method to use to get results and now and again can be comical about these rules of being a cop.

Generally speaking: the storyline/script is excellently written and consequently brought to life in this film, to begin with the framework and pacing of this 119 minutes film is... Well how can I put this nicely? It feels like this movie in every way shape or form is stuck in treacle, but man it really does need Malone/Connery as he really does make this colossal impact on to this project in everything and then the rest of the cast just keep it going forward; but I can't tell you how much Malone/Connery gets them out of a very deep and treacle hole to begin with, get things motivated and then maintain it.

Art, action and comedy; the art is very easy to see as it is in the locational designs/set designs, wardrobe and accessories and not forgetting; making De Niro look like Capone and as I have only seen a few pictures of Capone, but enough to reassure you that De Niro very much looks like a Capone. The action is very much based around the gangster or/and the police or in this case The Untouchables way of doing things with gunfights and watch out for this baseball bat and towards the later stages of the project; we have this beautifully designed to slow motion effects gunfight with this baby in its pram falling down the steps with; so we have a mixture of this simultaneous gunfight and savings sequence of events; it does come off as excellent fun; but also I have to be honest comical.

Character developments and performances; the character developments were/are good versions of what they are meant to be, with predominantly good performances that reflect those character types; but then we have individually De Niro or Connery; that when up and beyond to make their performances stand out or/and very much as I have already referenced massively rescue this project and using their performances to inject enthusiasm into this project that would otherwise really collapsed without them.

This film receives: 9/10, this film is excellent; after some reflection taking everything into consideration, I am comfortable that this is the right mark for this project, obviously if you come to watch the movie, it would help if you liked gangster movies to begin with, so obviously if you do this film is really worth a watch. This film also has some awards accredited to its name such as 11 Winners which include but not limited to; Academy Awards, USA Oscar 1988; Best Actor in a Supporting Role Sean Connery and 20 Nominees would also includes but not limited to from the same award ceremony/event Best Art Direction-Set Decoration Patrizia von Brandenstein William A.
