Warning:
there is flashing effects/colourful effects/other effects/transformation in
this trailer and yes I will be using adult language references; still censored
but I will be using them nonetheless
My
Reaction: Okay who actually
asked for this manure? I have just seen the 139 seconds
trailer and if anyone from Disney can't see the alarm bells ringing, maybe I
should go and get Matt Murdock to point them out to them, because I'm going to
start this content from this perspective; yes absolutely the cultural
component, the musical aspects involving choreography and all that may be and
what possibly will be the driving force behind the success of this live-action
reboot.
But having highlighted all of this positivity; Dwayne Johnson as Maui:
looks a complete joke, the wig is appalling; it doesn't sit on his head at all
properly so much so; you know if you were born back in the 1980s and/or in the
1990s you knew someone was wearing a wig in particularly a poor quality wig
when the natural head or remaining natural hair didn't match the wig on top;
that is precisely the problem we have here, so of course I guarantee you some
people like myself included will be sitting there watching this movie being
distracted by this terrible wig and because Johnson at some point last a lot of
weight his head either doesn't fit the wig or Maui's larger-than-life body
type; Johnson can be as charismatic as he wants to be in this live-action
reboot, but when it is glaringly obvious he physically no longer fits this role
then there is a problem and I think Johnson as a live-action Maui is just going
to eventually become very jarring anyway.
The computer animation is also really concerning; it may be absolutely
fine with these animal creatures that go on this journey with us, but when you
see it in the background with our characters in the foreground; there is a
clear division between one and the other where it should look all-encompassing
and when there is a lot of computer animation in one way or another; it just
looks incredibly messy and as if it is running off an old computer system like
Windows 95 as in it will do the job, but it is going to struggle with it.
So if this isn't combining to make this live-action project potentially
problematic these next two points will; so let me get this right we have just
had Moana 2 2024 and as of now/yet there are no signs of Moana 3, but they are
going to satirise their fan base/market with this reboot, so hold the fudge on
how about we get the animated version done first and then give it some time and
then start with the live-action trilogy, because this is coming off as very
exploitative and money grabbing, this is why I put the titles I did in the
related content section and it was to make this very valid point/points; these
live-action reboots are and were fondly remembered and/or nicely modernised for
a different outlay and there was plenty of time between animated versions to
live-action reboots; so consequently it makes them look more genuine [yes I am
very much aware that Lilo & Stitch is a Disney product,] but the fact
remains the last animated title was Leroy & Stitch 2006 and the animated TV
program was in Lilo & Stitch: The Series [between 2003-2006: 2 Seasons: 69
Episodes:] so as you can see plenty of time has passed and even How to Train
Your Dragon gave it sometime between their last animated project of How to
Train Your Dragon: Snoggletog Log 2019.
My prediction for
this film is: I think at best and they should think
themselves lucky from me it would have to be 6/10, I do stress this is because
of the positives I have already mentioned, but if this film was to be a 4 or
5/10, I really wouldn't be surprised in the slightest more probably 5/10, but I
like to give myself some wiggle room.
