Just a roundabout 7 days until
retirement; what could go wrong?: Sergeant
Roger Murtaugh [Danny Glover:] he is planning to retire within about a week's
time and Sergeant Martin Riggs [ Mel Gibson:] is ever so slightly I would say
nudging him to possibly reconsider with comments like something to the effect of;
you go to miss all of this?: But don't worry we just have enough time for one
more case.
Generally speaking: the storyline/script has everything that its fans would
have come to expect from this franchise, but including the gutsy move to
include youth gun violence and in hindsight that is the only disappointing
thing about this film; which it is nothing against this film, but you will get
my point; that this film was released in 1992 and when this content is first
being created it is now 2026 and the USA still has gun issues. The framework
and pacing of this 118 minutes film is incredibly well structured as everything
mean something with a minimum consistent pacing with the option to go up and
down throughout the gear when it is time to do so with this very natural
increase and decrease in pacing; it has a very natural flow to proceedings.
Action
and comedy; so yes our favourite Sergeants at this point anyway may have got
older, but it is good to see that much hasn't changed as they tried to refuse a
bomb, even though the bomb squad is on the way Riggs basically indicates; we
can do this... but without giving too much away at least they saved this young
cat, consequently sometime later they get to have some fun with this jaywalker
and Sergeant Riggs gets to make another new four-legged friend
Character
developments and performances; the character developments are multilayered as
we have retirement, youth and gun violence, a reversal Sergeants Murtaugh
obviously and clearly going through something that no one should ever go
through, but he had no choice. But he has Sargent Riggs trying to be there for
him as he and his family was for him way back when and newcomer in the form of
Rene Russo as Lorna Cole: she is from Internal Affairs, that to begin with
comes can't disclose, but eventually she works with Sergeants Murtaugh and
Riggs; she perfectly slots in and as you will see she is more than capable to
hang with Sergeants Murtaugh and Riggs; amongst the established returning
characters and cast; so on average the performances are excellent, especially
from Danny Glover and Mel Gibson.
This film receives: 10/10, this film is top-notch entertainment; for still at this time in history including youth gun violence, remained fresh, doing the role reversal thing and moving things on, whilst also maintaining their assets of this franchise, this is why this instalment has the mark it does; we also have an extra bit, somewhere around the closing credits something comes over the police radio and off they go again; this is voice only. This film also has some awards accredited to its name; such as 3 Winners which include but not limited to MTV Movie + TV Awards 1993 MTV Movie Award Best On-Screen Duo Mel Gibson Danny Glover. 4 Nominees which also include but not limited to from the same award ceremony/event MTV Movie Award Best Kiss Mel Gibson Rene Russo.
