Follow
that ship: briefly; in April 1805 during the
Napoleonic Wars; Captain Jack Aubrey
[Russell Crowe:] is the captain of this vessel, he is also known as "Lucky
Jack" after going head-to-head with the vessel from Napoleon's fleet and losing
badly, after making repairs they follow it and throughout the journey we see
what they get up to Aubrey has his good friend and the vessel's Surgeon: Dr. Stephen Maturin [Paul Bettany:] other than the medical side he is also into
natural science. I know this work does not get used in the film he says a
different word, I just basically put the equivalent word of 2025 when this was
first dictated and on top of that I have just realised I have spent a lean
years misspelling Russell Crowe: so if I have on some or all either way I apologies for that in my previous content as
it relates to this performer.
Generally
speaking: the framework and pacing of this
138 minutes film is good; it uses the construction of we meet sailing ship, its
captain and crew at sea; so we join them for this adventure which without
giving too much away as soon as this may be part is done, that is where we
leave them, regardless of any dialogue exchange just before leaving them; it is
very much a situation based adventure outlay meaning regardless of what
happened before or after this from the viewer's perspective it doesn't matter
we are just here for this bit a long bit in the middle of as I have already
mentioned 138 minutes.
Action and art; because of this timeframe we have
cannons and obviously their cannonballs being used; which as you can guess make
a lot of damage and on top of that we have ship to ship combat and the art; is
very clear to be seen what with the ships, wardrobe and accessories, scenes,
landscapes, nature and etc all bringing something positive to table
Character developments, performances and comedy; for the
character developments and performances on both counts they are all good; in
particular Crow and/or Bettany: they do keep this film going and their viewers
engaged; they have free-flowing chemistry and for the comedy; they are in
dialogue exchanges as little jokes now and again.
This film receives: 6/10, this film is good; I mean if you have never seen it like me, it is worth a watch especially if you're a fan of either or both of Crow and/or Bettany. This film also has some awards accredited to its name such as 23 Winners that include but not limited to Academy Awards, USA 2004 Oscars Best Cinematography Russell Boyd and Best Sound Editing Richard King. 90 Nominees which includes but not also limited to from the same award ceremony/event Best Picture Samuel Goldwyn Jr.Peter Weir Duncan Henderson and Best Makeup Edouard F. Henriques Yolanda Toussieng [in total it has 8 Nominees to its name.]
