years later: briefly; Michael Jennings [Ben Affleck:]
he is reverse engineer/engineering: this basically entails someone that
undertakes a contract, does the job and has their memory wiped, his last
contract was for Allcom, but for some reason obviously you can't remember and
now finds himself in the trouble and all he has is this large envelope with
more or less everyday objects in it to help him in some way, he did his job for
a friend James Rethrick [Aaron Eckhart:] he is the CEO of Allcom and he is very
wealthy, which Jennings will get highly paid for his services and then we have
Dr. Rachel Porter [Uma Thurman:] she is
a biologist for Allcom and let's just say her first meeting with Jennings
doesn't exactly go too well.
Generally
speaking: the framework and pacing,
character developments and action; well this film goes on for 119 minutes and
relatively early on it begins flawlessly with very good structure and pacing to
match, but slowly but surely this project begins to slow down to the point
where I would suggest maybe around off the top of my head about 45 minutes in
the gusto that this film has all but disappears, so we're stuck with this
really snails pace of the film and as you will see in this content we get left
high and dry and I just had to ask at any point of this film what the hell are
these memory recall things as in I know what they are, but there is so bulky
and messy: they are just ugly to go through, now after Jennings first in this
film: he is retraining elements with this stick and the combination hit later
on again including Dr. Porter assistance this offers a moment of comedy, but
not enough for me to section it off and not forgetting this big envelope with
clues to try and solve these individual puzzles; this is all good fun and
excellently put together, so how can I put this nicely?... If you're going to
watch this film? Remember it does have some good parts to it.
Art; the computer generated bits and pieces are holding
up nicely considering as of this content being first created it is been over
two decades and they are still of a high quality.
Character developments and performances; on both counts
they are either solid versions of what they are meant to be, combining that
with performances that are dry and hardly charismatic; so with Affleck, Thurman
and Eckhart do okay, but combined with
what I said earlier and now it just is not an easy ride for everyone concerned
including us the viewers.
This film receives: 5/10, this film is mixed; as I referenced at one point or another, the framework and pacing, performances are all somewhat problematic, but I do like the concept and other bits and pieces of this film, so after everything is said and done this marking is the right outcome, yes for a little while there is an ending credit seen right at the beginning of the inning credits and this film does have some awards accredited to its name such 3 Winners as: Positives: Key Art Awards 2004 Key Art Award Best Motion Graphics For the teaser. Negative: for an example Razzie Awards 2004 Worst Actor Ben Affleck Larry King presented Affleck with this award on the March 16, 2004 episode of [title=tt0088550], after Razzie founder John Wilson personally brought the award to the CNN studio. Affleck jokingly referred to the trophy as "a little cheap" before proceeding to break it. Three days later, Wilson put the trophy pieces up for auction on eBay. The broken trophy sold for $1,375 and covered the hall rental cost of the following year's Razzie Awards ceremony.
