Heat 1995 by AverageMansReviews

Warning:
there is flashing effects/colourful effects/shooting/domestic violence/mental
health/self harm/suicide/vehicle crashing/animal cruelty/drugs/squashing/hit
and run/medical.
The
heat is on: basically; because the first heist
didn't go according to plan; there leader of this unit Neil McCauley [Robert De
Niro:] this expert career criminal is the best of what he does; one of the
members of his unit is Chris Shiherlis [Val Kilmer:] he is an excellent
marksman and other physical things, but he does have a gaming problem and a
troubled marriage. But McCauley finds himself mentally jousting with Lieutenant
Vincent Hanna [Al Pacino:] he works for the LAPD Homicide; he eats, sleeps and
then brings the job/hunt, he also has a step-daughter Lauren Gustafson [Natalie
Portman:] she has mental health issues.
Generally
speaking: the framework and pacing of this 170
minutes film is good and no 170 minutes is not in spoken figure and word.
Character developments and performances; the character
developments are solid yet fully rounded versions of what they are meant to be;
but let's be completely honest here this film success is massively down to the
assembling of this cast; this is one of those films that on one hand tells me I
am getting old, while on the other hand I have been content creating for a long
time now as I may not know all of their names but I can tell me where I have
seen from and no I'm not going to do everybody, but enough to show you the
names of this cast. Jon Voight as Nate [latest film role Megalopolis 2024,]
Dennis Haysbert as Don Breedan and Xander Berkeley as Ralph [synonymous with
the US TV program 24,] Ted Levine as Detective Mike Bosko [a main role on the
US TV program Monk,] Mykelti Williamson as Sergeant Bobby Drucker and Danny
Trejo as Gilbert Trejo [from the film Con Air 1997] and Diane Venora as Justine
Hanna [The Jackal 1997.]
So as you can clearly see including the other names I
have already mentioned and the others that I haven't; this cast has lots of
depth and not forgetting that little detail of being led by De Niro and Pacino
is massive; if you don't know yes I can reassure you that we have this iconic
and cinematic scene of just these two heavyweights of the film industry just
talking about things in a place that serves coffee and just to make sure I went
and did a little bit of research this was the first film they did together and
I remember back in the day of the buzz that this created of these two going face-to-face
it was huge. So everyone in this cast; regardless of size of role; brings
something positive to the proceedings of this long film.
Action; they very much follow the criminal heist routine
on all levels, I am not disrespecting, I'm saying if it looks like and
communicates like an elephant then my friend you have an elephant; but they are
high octane action nonetheless.
This film receives: 8/10, this film is excellent; if you have an afternoon/night spare then this film is one of those that need to see once in your lifetime and in; this film is one of those moments in time where, you had all these performers in one location working on one project together. This film has some awards accredited to its name; 15 Nominees which includes Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films, USA 1996 Saturn Award Best Action/Adventure Film and Best Supporting Actor Val Kilmer. Chicago Film Critics Association Awards CFCA Award Best Supporting Actress Diane Venora as Justine Hanna: Vincent's long suffering wife which she happens to be his third wife and mother to Lauren Gustafson. YoungStar Awards 1997 YoungStar Award Best Performance by a Young Actress in a Drama Film Natalie Portman
