Well this film is a pile of shish kebab: basically this film is based around Robert Montague Renfield/Renfield [Nicholas Hoult:] the long serving servant to his master as he tells us in an inner monologue/group therapy about his relationship. Dracula [Nicholas Cage:] has big plans for their new home of New Orleans and their residence.

The framework and pacing of this 93 minutes film is something straightforward, it knows what it is doing and it sticks to the plan, but having said this; there is one big negative about this film which I will quickly be coming on to.

Art/Action/Comedy: we have this black-and-white old school horror Dracula theme mini sequence in Renfield's opening monologue and I was thinking "Yay we are going old school" at minimum for a little while, but don't get your hopes up, this is just to highlight the history bits and pieces and then in the closing credits, they bring out another old school horror art interpretation; with mostly grey with eye-catching colour and unfortunately for the rest of the film as it goes for its artistic usage; it is garbage. Yes for those people that are into the horror films, they do use the cheap and tacky gorography action sequences with it being some kind of comedy attempt. But honestly there was only one occasion where I found this funny; it is where Renfield has come down from somewhere higher to take care of this special unit [I can't remember it precisely but it was something like may be S.W.A.T] and whilst breaking half of the body as it is hanging over this walkway banister the scene slows down we see Renfield smiling and giving a little wave to Traffic Police Officer Rebecca [Awkwafina:] a Traffic Police Officer for the New Orleans Police Department; which is hellbent on bringing her sister and her father's murder to justice. But for here and now, as Renfield is making this look like an everyday occurrence, whilst she is being sensible with this is not an everyday occurrence and yes we have servant taking on master with Traffic Police Officer Rebecca assisting at some point as well.

Character developments and performances: the character developments generally speaking first of all was poor versions of what they were meant to be in hindsight Renfield's character developments as it relates to him eating bugs or insects or anything like that was an imaginative interpretation. Well how can I put this nicely if this is what they were going for as it relates to their character developments there is more than enough blame to go around as it relates to either the character developments or/and the performances. I mean don't get me wrong I can easily buy Nicholas Cage as Dracula as he fits the character role of Dracula very well indeed, but not this version from time to time as he is being comical. So even in this version when he is being what you expect from Dracula, if he was in a normal horror version of Dracula you would look and feel at home.

This film receives: 1/10, this film is poor; yes there are some good bits and pieces, but on the whole this film is garbage and like the person said I watch some of these films with " If there is to be a sequel in the future I won't be seeing it." This individual asked me if I would see the sequel if there was one at some point? I said paraphrasing yes but just on the grounds of doing content on it; but to be honest this film was and is boring.
