Warning: there is flashing effects/colourful effects/references
to Russia and a German word which I will be making reference to when it is used
later on in this content/shooting/decapitation/bodily functions/animal
cruelty/stabbing/burning/cutting/suicide
Last chance: in a
nutshell CIA Agent JJ [Dave Batista:] an ex-special forces turned reckless CIA
Agent and his tech-support Bobbi [Kristen Schaal:] she works for the CIA and is
a massive fan of JJ's. So all they have to do is keep an eye on this family via
surveillance as this location has been bugged by them. But what they didn't
plan for is to be rumbled by Sophie [Chloe Coleman:] a nine-year-old girl which
is very intelligent and finds one of these bugs, then finds out she and her mum
is under surveillance, including recording evidence and holding it against JJ
for things she wants in return. Basically what we have here is some kind of
mixture between Kindergarten Cop 1990 starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and Pamela
Reed and Getting Even with Dad 1994 starring Macauley Culkin and Ted Danson.
The framework and pacing of this 99
minute film; is generally speaking solidly good, it does take some time for
this film to wake up and let the handbrake off, but after that it is good.
Comedy, Action, Character and performances: these two kids are poking fun at JJ for not exactly
being graceful on an ice rink, so eventually he whilst resting on the side of
this rink he sticks out a skate backwards to trip up these two kids,
unfortunately he gets caught by the person running is ice rink and consequently
they have to leave or/and Sophie is desperately wanting to experience one of
these slow motion walk away sequences whilst this massive explosion is
happening behind her, so JJ for the first time around does this with sparklers or
something to that effect and much more later on we have Bobbi mostly making
reference Raiders of the Lost Ark 1981 she brings up a plane and the N word for
a German person, I could remember the sequence but I couldn't remember which
one of the golden trilogy from, so I had to go and do a little research, as she
is watching this action sequence developed. In a general sense that action is
lively with explosions, weapons, chasing and making an quick yet strategic
exit, before this situation gets life-threateningly worse for all concerned and
on a quick side note, because I can't leave out this other reference; there is
also a reference to Iron Man 2 starring Robert Downey Jr. and Mickey Rourke [yes
I almost forgot this one, it takes place in the opening section.]
The character developments and the
performances; they are good versions of what they are meant to be, let's keep
in mind of the two films I made reference to at the beginning of this content,
but however they are as they cast excellently performed; the main selection of
characters/performers including Parisa Fitz-Henley as Kate: Sophie's mum and
medical professional that is trying to do her best.
Art: rough
description; in the first section of closing credits; there is this character/performer
on screen with black-and-white of them freeze-frame with these colourful things
happening around them; this is eye-catching art
This film receives: 7/10, this film is good; once it gets up to speed, it
is a good little film and based on a little bit more research, but enough for
me to at least indicate this; I can see why they are going to come out with a
sequel
