We have Shaft, Shaft and Shaft; surely that is just too much
"Shut your mouth." I'm just talking about Shaft "I can dig that.": John Shaft Jr./J.J. Shaft [Baby:
unknown performer/5-8 Year Old Child J.J: Jordan Preston Carter]/Teenage: J.J
Christian Anderson/Adult: FBI J.J Shaft Jessie T. Usher] is a computer analyst
for the FBI and after his best friend Karim Hassan [5-8 Year Old Child Karim:
Joey Mekyten/Adult: Avan Jogia] J.J goes to someone for help it would be his
father Investigate John Shaft [Samuel L. Jackson] and when these two are
potentially walking into mayhem they can always rely on John Shaft Sr. [Richard
Roundtree] to nominate himself to have some fun with his son and grandson.
The pacing of this 111 minute film
is like the rest of it solidly good and it knows what it is doing throughout.
Now this is where usually I would
break things down, but because I am Caucasian and I am not making this a racial
thing, but at the same time I would really not like to be cancelled. This
sequel has a consistent theme of urban content and language I just can't say. I
am not criticising this sequel for this and yes I would usually try to adapt it
somewhat so I can make references to it which are politically correct. But in
this case the urban language is consistent so this is if I was to adapt it; it
wouldn't have the same impact and it wouldn't be the correct sentence that is
how much I would have adapt it.
What I can tell you about this film
is this; providing your viewing audience is of a suitable age; this sequel is
comical, but it does need Jackson in this film to really bring it to life in
the only way he can. The family dynamic/broken family dynamic is a reliably
good versions of their dynamic including J.J mother/John Shaft's ex-wife Maya
Babaniko [Regina Hall] and J.J's another long-time friend/love interest Sasha
Arias [5-8 Year Old Child: Nyah Marie Johnson/Adult: Dr. Sasha Arias [Alexandra
Shipp] with all good performances from this cast.
The action and the comedy which I
can talk about is for an example we have John Shaft with his son J.J having a
night out in this club to relax from the case, unfortunately J.J get in to a
physical altercation with this man for masculine reasons, this individual is
connected to Baby [Chivonne Michelle] I should point out that J.J has been
drinking a fair amount at this point, he takes care of this individual using
capoeira, but unfortunately J.J has a messy ending to this scene.
This film receives: 6/10, this film is good; as I have already referenced in one
way or another it is a solidly good and comical film.
