Why do you keep this hotel? Break bread with me and I will tell you why: this young Author [Jude Law in 1963/Tom Wilkinson in 1985] gets invited to have a meal with the owner of The Grand Budapest Hotel [Zero in 1932; Tony Revolori/Mr. Moustafa in 1963 - same character/F. Murray Abraham] so over this meal Mr. Moustafa tells his chanting story of a will, robbery and romance. The pacing of roughly 101 minutes film is good; it uses the outlay of storyteller, if you would like a film which users this outlay to similar effect it would have to be Interview with the Vampire 1994, but I can't stress this enough these two projects are in two different genres; this film crime and comedy whilst the other is horror and drama, but as it relates to this film; The Grand Budapest Hotel, the comedy is subtle yet elegant as I will show in this review; like the retelling/recording of this story by this Author in 1985 doesn't exactly start smoothly, which on reflection is just a taste of the comedy to come.

The artistic visions as there is so much to see and experience; where to start; we get to see how rundown this hotel has become and then what it was like back in its glory days; which used to be a true riches and glamour place to stay which used red carpets with a design on them, but the main reason why I am bringing this up is to talk about this really red colour system being used in this left, I don't have a problem with it and if it was the intended purpose for the characters to stand out in front of it; it worked, but on the same token, because of its colour it is something I should really mention, just based on the facts it is incredibly noticeable. We also have gondola sequences where at some parts it looks like someone has taken a lot of time and effort to make this gondola moving sequence, where we have the background and on top of this background we have this moving gondola or gondolas on the paper mixed in with the outcome will film [it looks amazing, supremely better than how I am describing it,] including the background scenery, costumes and accessories, basically they went up and beyond to bring their viewers into this world and they achieved that with flying colours.

The action; including the comedy again Monsieur Gustave H. [Ralph Fiennes] being arrested by Albert Henckels; the senior investigating police officer [Edward Norton] and for the first few moments H takes it as an upstanding man, the next second or less he suddenly turned around and begins running with Henckels saying the standard things and chasing after him with other police officers as well.

Or later on there is this prison escape and we have these characters carrying this ladder; where I appreciate this setup and execution it is a very old setup, basically you could have one person walking with this ladder and then do this really long ladder, more ladder, more ladder and then another character at the end. But it is all about the execution if you do this sequence for too long it just rapidly loses its appeal and comes off as cheap and tacky, but if you do it long enough and then seeing another person than that is a hit and smart which this film does this comedy sequence justice in its interpretation.

The character developments and the performances; the character developments are safe and reliable versions of what they are meant to be; because this film is a crime, it is not a bad thing to follow these character types, because you can do the suspect thing easily and smoothly. The performances; well this is a marvellous assembled cast there is free-flowing chemistry and they all complement each other.

This film receives: 9/10, this film is excellent; after everything is said and done it finds itself at this mark. It has certainly captured a time forgotten what with its outstanding art, elegant and smart comedy material and tone and a cast which brought world to live regardless of the size of the role. This should be absolutely no surprise but this film has quite a few awards accredited to it, such as just a small figure of 134 Winners that include; 4 of these Academy Awards, USA 2015; Oscars Best Achievement in Costume Design Milena Canonero, Best Achievement in Makeup and Hairstyling Frances Hannon Mark Coulier Best Achievement in Music Written for Motion Pictures, Original Score, Alexandre Desplat and Best Achievement in Production Design Adam Stockhausen (production design) Anna Pinnock (set decoration.) Nominees just another small figure of 226 which include another 5 [on the same night] Best Motion Picture of the Year Wes Anderson Scott Rudin Steven Rales Jeremy Dawson, Best Achievement in Directing Wes Anderson, Best Achievement in Cinematography Robert D. Yeoman, Best Achievement in Film Editing Barney Pilling and Best Writing, Original Screenplay Wes Anderson (screenplay/stoy) Hugo Guinness (story,) by the way for those that cannot pick up on sarcasm I was being sarcastic when I was referencing the small figures.
