Okay who the hell came up with this idea?: Okay we are dealing after-the-fact of Dr. Henry Jekyll,
unfortunately bringing his life to an end. But he leaves everything to Mr.
Edward Hyde in his will [both characters performed by Michael McKell.] Which
Dr. Henry Jekyll leaves with his lawyer Gabriel Utterson [Tom Hendryk,] his
long-suffering wife Sarah Utterson [Helen Crevel] and Inspector Newcombe [Mark
Topping] are very interested to know what actually happened.
The pacing, the art, comedy, mostly
the character developments and performances are all good. The pacing of this 85
minutes film is always smoothly moving. The art; the scenery, costumes and so
on really do look neat and tidy and yes we have some moments of comedy such as
when one example we have this old chestnut of comedy reference; Gabriel
Utterson has been working very hard throughout the night and fallen asleep at
his desk, so of course when he gets woken up a piece of paper is stuck to his
face.
Now let's be positive first on one
hand the character developments are reliably good versions of what they are
meant to be, but on the other hand now the storyline and these character
developments are shockingly terrible and here is the funny part I can't tell
you too much about them, because that would be giving too much of the film
away, so let me put it this way which should be a massive indicator in itself;
this film was going to get a positive mark of 6/10, but instead as you will
clearly see after a certain point it just tumbled down my marking system even
though as I have clearly just pointed out in a nutshell this film is solidly
good, but after this point there was just no coming back.
This film receives: 1/10, this film is poor; now I don't mind alternative
storytelling, but this one alternative storytelling is easily a first-class
Cruise around the world as it relates to one step too far and heavily
disappointing on what it was heading to receive from me.
