Bright Lights, Big City 1988 by AverageMansReviews

Bright Lights, Big City 1988 by AverageMansReviews

Review Time: this film is good

Warning: there is a component of cancer and small amount of flash photography in this film

Fundamental elements: there are words on screen, voice-over elements, background music, cultural elements, mental imagery, no subtitles when another language is being used, time jumps and place jumps.

Movement; this is one of those films that consistently moves, but it does lose its pacing at some point for a little while, but it does find itself again; basically when this film is moving it is fine, but when it either slows down or feels like it has stopped moving then it can come off as boring and not doing much.

Storyline/Back stories: the storyline is good; the back stories come to us the viewers via voice-over, newspapers, mental imagery and in the dialogue exchanges.

Artistic visions/Comedy level: so just before I begin this section I should just give you a heads up; I will be discussing the dark comedy element now in this one example these two elements work hand-in-hand, so we are in mental imagery and we have our lead character/performer having this dialogue exchange with this coma baby whilst he is still inside his Mother and from an artistic perspective it looks excellent and in this dialogue exchange you have this baby saying "I can't hear you, I can't hear you" when you can quite easily here our lead character/performer.

Character developments/Performances: the character developments are good; as our lead character/performer will learn if you don't deal with things eventually they will catch up with you in one way or another and likewise for the performances they are good as well; there is good chemistry/friction, yes depending where you are; is depending what you get at that point in this project.

This film receives: 7/10, now after everything is said and done this is a fair reflection of this project

What to Expect When You're Expecting 2012 by AverageMansReviews

What to Expect When You're Expecting 2012 by AverageMansReviews

Review Time: this film is poor

Warning: there is a component of a miscarriage in this film.

Fundamental elements: there are cultural elements, background music, slow-motion effects, mental imagery, no subtitles when another language is being used, interpreter elements, time jumps and place jumps.

Movement: this film never gets out of neutral consequently it is boring. But as you will see in this review there are other components to this project which doesn't help the situation either, so there is plenty of blame to go around.

Storyline/Back stories/Origin storylines: now because I am a man I just want to cover my back by saying the following; if this film didn't have these components or elements in it I wouldn't be discussing them. So with that being stated; the storyline is poor; I mean don't get me wrong deep, deep, deep, deep down it has substance in fact much later on in this film it does show consistent substance in one way or another and yes 35 minutes in there is this miscarriage, but for me they don't deal with this storyline component in any significant way,] but if this film brings this to the table, they should have used it to explore both sides of the coin [male or female and then together] instead of a little bit here and a little bit there throughout the rest of the film without scratching the surface of the situation and just for the record these two characters/performers like one another.

The other storylines get a mention in a dialogue exchange as it relates to a couple and why they physically cannot have children or they come off as immature.

Back stories & Origin storylines; we get the back stories in the opening section to this film, magazines, storyteller, monolog and in the dialogue exchanges and we get to experience some elements of the origin storylines.

Artistic visions/Comedy level: there are artistic visions such as the aquarium elements or the landscapes which are later on in this project or this 4D ultrasound babies scan of these twins or we have karaoke or a band playing [concert] and this viral video. Moving on to the comedy level; for me there isn't too much of it to speak of; we have the interrupting child, this golf cart race and the face scale [to illustrate how much discomfort these women are in right now.]

Action sequences: there are exercise and working out and this golf cart chasing sequence which I have just mentioned.

Character developments/Performances: they are predictable for these kinds of films, consequently the viewers get the standard chemistry/friction on top of that, so not only is it depending on where you are in the film is depending what you get as it relates to the chemistry/friction, as I have made reference to the substance shows through more consistently the later you are in this project, so let me put it this way; when this project has a moment of substance or later on in this project the performances have lots of potential if we had as viewers more of this throughout the film as a consistent presence, this project would be looking at a much better mark.

This film receives: 2/10, but continuing from my previous paragraph in reality this film is poor and on a quick side note there is an outdated word being used as it relates to a child the word is "spaz," so this film was released in 2012 so this word should not have been used, I am okay to use such words as this one because I am one, generally speaking this does not bother me, it comes with the territory and I have a very, very thick skin so I am just bringing this up to make this point. if we are going to generally speaking outlaw other words from our society shouldn't this one be on the list as well?

Rough Night 2017 by AverageMansReviews

Rough Night 2017 by AverageMansReviews

Review Time: this film is mixed

Fundamental elements: there are numbers and words on screen, voice-over elements, cultural elements, slow-motion effects, quick moving effects, background music, no subtitles when another language is being used, interpreter elements [learning via a tape or CD,] time jumps and place jumps.

Movement; well not much happens in the first 23 minutes, but other than that it does consistently move throughout the rest of the film time roughly of 141 minutes.

Storyline/Back stories: this will not be the only time I will say something to this effect; but the storyline like other components of this film are the standard for these kinds of films, where everything goes wrong on this particular night [enter number of characters/performers here.] Even though this film says "The End" there is a scene/song being sung alongside the second wave of ending credits. We the viewers get to see and experience a back story in the opening section of this film, storyteller and they get discussed in the dialogue exchanges.

Comedy level: it ranges between mature to adult to dark; this is another component which is the standard for these kinds of films, there are two examples which I can use in this review. This electrical garage door keeps going up and down whilst we have two characters/performers in a taxi with a driver character/performer coming in to this location, but we have the rest of our group of characters/performers trying to deal with something [I have censored this element by saying something] without any more people knowing about it inside this garage, the only character/performer that is not 100% certain what is happening here is the taxi driver.

The other is where one of our characters/performers comes in from the sea on this Jet Ski way too fast and then goes over the handlebars to have this crash landing on this beach.

Action sequences/Artistic visions: there are weapons being used and combat. Moving on to the artistic visions; there is this suitcase with little flags on it which is eye-catching and likewise this scene of the moon at night which is clear to see and as I have already said there is this song being sung by this character/performer as she is playing the keyboard, this is good.

Character developments/Performances: the character developments are the standard, meaning you get the standard chemistry/friction as times have changed [in their lives,] the awkwardness and everything else that comes with that. So inevitably the performances reflect that as well so in fairness and balance the performers in question make it feel as natural as possible with these character developments which they have to work with, so I will say good work nonetheless.

This film receives: 4/10, now after everything is said and done this mark is a fair conclusion.

Kin 2018 by AverageMansReviews

Kin 2018 by AverageMansReviews

Review Time: this film is mixed

Warning: there are elements of child abuse in one way or another

Fundamental elements: there are voice-over elements, background music, cultural elements, mental imagery, no subtitles when another language is being used, time jumps and place jumps.

Movement; to begin with it is slow and boring but it does get better the more you watch of it, I should just point out when I say better I mean it wakes up and moves along. I am not going to lie I did check on how much time I had watched and have left to watch of this project, because of two reasons 1 as I have already said it was slow and the second reason I will discuss in the next section, but for here and now all I can say is this; it is one of those perfect reasons to why I kept checking on how much time I had seen and how much time I had left.

Storyline/Back stories: well continuing from my previous paragraph generally speaking the storyline is something solid, but however we come onto the second reason from the previous paragraph, now not to give too much away but the other reason why I kept looking at the amount of time [gone and left to watch,] it is because there is another narrative going on alongside the main storyline and once again I am not going to lie it looks much more interesting, so I was waiting for it to join the main storyline, which it does but right at the end of this film to drop a massive bombshell, which in short this project has been deliberately set up for a sequel, which if the sequel doesn't come it makes this project a waste of time and on a quick side note I had a quick look for any information on a sequel and as it stands here and now it looks like a No.

Back stories; they come to the viewers via voice-over, storyteller, a news report, mental imagery and discussed in the dialogue exchanges.

Action sequences/Artistic visions: there are weapons being used, combat and chasing. Moving on to the artistic visions there are some good looking scenery be it by night with this moon or owl or these daytime skies and this small plane and other things.

Character developments/Performances: well on one hand they can be seen as good, but on the other hand absolutely pointless, based on what I have said about this storyline, so consequently we may never get to see or experience these character developments. The performances are good; there is good chemistry/friction, yes depending where you are; is depending what you get at that specific time.

This film receives: 4/10, now after everything is said and done this mark is a fair outcome, when you come to have this road trip and beyond until the closing credits this project is comfortably got enough to it not to be given a poor mark.

Disturbing the Peace 2020 by AverageMansReviews

Disturbing the Peace 2020 by AverageMansReviews

Review Time: this film is poor

Fundamental elements: there are voice-over elements, background music, cultural elements, mental imagery, no subtitles when another language is being used, but an interpreter element of a tattoo which was in a different language, time jumps and place jumps.

Movement: because I will be bringing this up again shortly all I will say here is this; it is like watching paint drying.

Storyline/Back stories: now in theory this is one of those storylines that should have been something safe and reliable, but somehow this project takes this storyline and completely makes a mess of it, be it the movement, the storyline or the back stories elements [which I will discuss momentarily,] but as a whole the storyline is garbage.

The back stories come to the viewers via the following; mental imagery, a letter or dialogue exchanges and yes they even screwed up on a back story as the leader of this bike gang [Diablo,] this beginning sequence to the film is 99.9% connected to him, he seems to know a lot about this location and its community [not just because he is pulling this job,] another member of his gang has this dialogue exchange with our lead character/performer about him to confirm all of this roughly and in one way or another Diablo makes references to things.

But here's the problem none of this is confirmed 100% by Diablo/Sawa in a monologue or a dialogue exchange of in-depth substance with our lead character/performer Sheriff Jim Dillon/Pearce so it just feels really lazy and unfulfilling.

Action sequences/Artistic visions: there are weapons being used, combat and chasing. Moving on to the artistic visions; this project has some good scenes be it; by night looking at the moon or by day with the animals and other things.

Character developments/Performances: I don't know what to say about these two components, individually or together once again in theory these character developments should have been likewise something safe and reliable, but in some cases they are cheap and tacky character developments/performances or yes something safe and reliable with their character developments/performances and yes the same can be said for the chemistry/friction as well so all I can say about the chemistry/friction it is just depending on which characters/performers you have on screen at that time if it comes over or off as cheap and tacky or something solid at best.

Bloopers: there is this Deputy on his mobile talking and because another character cuts the connection to the power grid to this location and other devices this Deputy is texting somebody in fact you have this criminal in the back of his car just saying look out and here is me thinking any usage of a mobile device without a hands-free set or something to this effect was against the law whilst driving and I have just realized if his connection went down he wouldn't have been able to send the text either.

Next we have our lead character/performer crashing this vehicle to make a scene [I have no idea why this is; because no one is in this scene other than him,] but it really doesn't feel like it has come off how it was meant to, it just feels like it was a waste of time as if "Now we have done that shall we just carry on with what we were doing?" Not only in a film sense but in a filmmaking sense as well as a for a moment it just feels awkward and in another sequence it is where we have these two female characters/performers fighting over this gun and the criminal female character in this scene seems to be winning and then the camera shot switches to outside this church front door we hear this gun go off and this civilian character comes out with this gun, so what precisely went on here?

This film receives: 1/10, this film is agonizing torture so if you have the choice I would suggest missing it, but if your partner should choose to watch this project on a date night or something just do the right thing and watch it. In the interest of fairness and balance if there are any fans of Guy Pearce, take a look at this project but I really, really, really, really wouldn't expect too much. Likewise if there are any fans of WWE Kelly Kelly is in this project or to be more precise Barbie Blank as Amanda [it is a small role throughout this project.]

Eliminators 2016 by AverageMansReviews

Eliminators 2016 by AverageMansReviews

Review Time: this film is good.

Fundamental elements: there are words on screen, voice-over elements, cultural elements, background music, slow-motion effects, time jumps and place jumps.

Movement; it has a clear idea of what it is doing and it sticks to that.

Storyline/Back stories: likewise the storyline has a clear idea to it and it sticks to that as well, I mean it is good, but having said that the ending to this project could have done with some work; because it leaves a question-mark for an ending; what happened next? The back stories come to the viewers via various information gathering with a profile picture/pictures with and without dialogue exchanges or just dialogue exchanges and this news report via a TV

Action sequences/Artistic visions/Comedy level: there are weapons being used, combat, chasing, exercise and training. For one example we have our lead character/performer taking on these two other characters/performers with a innocent character/performer cowering in the corner, because he doesn't want to get involved, so we have all this taking place in this very limited space [in this rising cable cart.]

Artistic visions & comedy level; these are individually small components in one way or another here are some examples; the youngest character/performer is drawing the family unit and it will join the other pictures on the fridge and a small number of landscapes which look good for you to look out for and there is a mature moment of comedy, it is where we have this henchman being caught at one of those worse times to get caught doing something, but at least he got to finish that is all I can say really.

Character developments/Performances: on both counts they are good; there is good chemistry/friction, yes depending where you are; is depending what you get.

Blooper: it is where we have this character/performer Bishop/Barrett talking through this air sealed close door [similar to the ones you have on Submarines] to our lead character/performer and another character/performer on the other side, but some distance away and waiting for him with guns ready, but the problem lies when you're not in any way shape or form close to Bishop/Barrett, his dialogue exchange is far from loud and clear, I should just point out this is nothing against him this is a technical problem.

This film receives: 6/10, as I have already said this film is good and if there are any wrestling fans out there in Internet land this film is a WWE Studio project starring Wade Barrett as Bishop or his name outside of this company Stu Bennett.

We Die Young 2019 by AverageMansReviews

We Die Young 2019 by AverageMansReviews

Review Time: this film is poor

Warning: there is animal cruelty and sexual assault

Fundamental elements: there are voice-over elements, background, music cultural elements, mental imagery, quick moving effects, slow-motion effects, no subtitles when another language is being used, time jumps place and jumps.

Movement; it ambles along at no particular speed, I was consistently looking at how much time I had left to watch of this project and it is only roughly 92 minutes long

Storyline/Back stories: the storyline is solid and the back stories come to the viewers via the following; voice-over from a main character/performer setting the background down to all of these back stories, consistent mental imagery as it relates to Daniel/Van Damme, in the dialogue exchanges, but on reflection this project does leave things on a question-mark; what happened to this community and everyone in it after these two characters/performers have left? Now just to give you a heads up there is a ending scene alongside the closing credits.

Action sequences/Artistic visions: there are weapons being used, combat, chasing and Baseball. Moving on to the artistic visions; there is rapping with beatboxing, this band playing with and without a singer and here is something for you to look out for; there is this old-fashioned Punch and Judy puppet stand but in this case they are telling the story of Little Red Riding Hood; this is excellent highly creative and highly imaginative.

Character developments/Performances: the character developments are on both counts reliable; has in you can/viewers can identify what/who these characters are and what positions they hold in the film/landscape of things easily. Daniel/Van Damme clearly has P.T.S.D [Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder] and speaks via a small version [handheld version] of a Liberator type of machine [a quick description of this machine in the film; he types what he wants to say into this machine and it says it for him.]

Performances; they feel like they are doing a job, don't get me wrong there is chemistry/friction, yes depending where you are; is depending what you get and what with Van Damme having to use other means to communicate in one way or another the connections between these characters/cast are there to be seen, felt and experience.

This film receives: 2/10, after everything is said and done I am just going to stick with this mark.
