Review Time
Bendini,
Lambert & Locke: briefly; this law firm quick snaps up this recently graduated from Harvard Law
School lawyer/just has to pass the bar exam his name of Mitch McDeere [Tom
Cruise:] he comes from humble beginnings, but after some time he quickly discovered
he is involved in a very dark world indeed, where everyone he likes or/and loves will evenually be involved or dead.
Generally
speaking: the storyline is okay, but the script is just way too long for
what it is; to the point where you could easily take off 45 minutes of the film
and you could still achieve its objective, coinciding with this we also have
this really ghastly background music which either doesn't go with the tone of
the film at that time or completely buried it or makes light of it; or
regardless it is just very pronounced and dominating and on top of that less
[yes even on top of that] as the person I watch some of this content with
said/Indicated; from time to time it is like a child going across a piano and
just bang the keys. So as you can probably guess in conjunction with all of
that the framework and pacing of this 157 minutes film is as best as I can
describe without using sensitive adult language references is a complete
dumpster fire of an epic scale, Which has a knocking effect to the character
and performance; they are starting with uphill struggle from the outset and as
you will read later the character developments maybe solid by the vast majority
of them and including the performance as well, but they also have a lot of time
to film and on their own merits, the character development and/or Performances
are yes solid but also we need more from them on both counts.
Action and art;
there are various chasing sequences and guns being used that is what can say
about that really, they are solidly entertaining, the sequence of events to get
to these documents and this misdirection and the art is very fitting of early 90s; good stuff
Character
developments and performances; well what do you want me to say really, I know I
have already brought up this point, but I can't stress enough how much it
really dominates this film, so consequently these character types are a solid
version of what they are meant to be, while from the time to time coinciding
with the performance's being undercut by the background music and the actual
tone at that time or/and performances either not showing much or trying to
compensate for this film being reckless so their performance comes over as an
exaggerated version of the character isn't that right Cruise. Holly Hunter as
Tammy Hemphill: she is a secretary to a private detective as she tries to
assist with things; she is the only one that really puts in a performance that
I can say is very good, hell I will even go with excellent compared to the rest
of them, being solid or less; she is just a very plucky individual but just
happens to be in the wrong place the wrong time, but nonetheless she tries to
help and does more of her, But it has to be said the chemistry throughout the
cast more often than not also is at best going through the motion or not there
the depending on who is on screen at that time
This film
receives: 4/10, this film is mixed; I mean as I have already alluded to in
one way or another, the problems with this movie I'm not exactly small ones and
because this film goes on for roughly 154 minutes it gives you plenty of time
to analyze them in their entirety, but after everything is said and done this
mark seems the right outcome, this film also has an ongoing scene underneath
the first lot of closing credits with sounds of a dialogue exchange as well.
This
film also has some Awards accredited to its name; 3 Winners would includes but
not limited to Positive; People's Choice Awards, USA 1994 People's Choice Award
Favorite Dramatic Motion Picture. Negative: Yoga Award 1994 Yoga Award Worst
Foreign Actor Tom Cruise. 7 Nominees which also include but not limited to
Academy Awards, USA 1994 Oscar Best Actress in a Supporting Role Holly Hunter:
as Tammy Hemphill and Best Music, Original Score Dave Grusin and MTV Movie + TV
Awards 1994 MTV Movie Award Best Male Performance Tom Cruise
