Review Time

Warning: there is flashing effects/colourful effects/shooting/impaling/animal cruelty/disfigurement/drugs/burning/decapitation/vehicle crash/strangling/choking/domestic violence/ritual and there will be a censored adult language reference in this content as well.

Married for roughly 95 minutes: briefly; Grace [Samara Weaving:] she has just got married into this family that has a strange tradition of playing a game; in this case "Hide & Seek" where she just has to survive and not be sacrificed until daylight, which in which case the penalty will fall on the family.

Generally speaking: the storyline/script is fine; it is a bit wafer thin, yes we get some exposition on the character developments, the framework is also fine; it fulfil the purpose, but with this script being basically a foundation level script in conjunction with this terrible pacing; where for the first 60 minutes we have fits and starts; that point where it becomes actually boring. Where I said to the person I want someone was content with; I can see why they have come out with a sequel based on the fact there isn't actually much happening on here.

Comedy, action and art; the comedy as you would expect with this kind of graphic horror is of the origins of dark or black comedy such as people getting graphically shot/misfire or decapitation and things of that nature, the art is how can I put this nicely?... Highly detailed.

Character developments and performances; on both counts they were good versions of what they were meant to be, the only character developments and simultaneous performance that stood out for me was Grace/Weaving: they have clearly gone with the idea/concept of something like Ellen Ripley/Sigourney Weaver from the Alien franchise of; okay I really didn't want to be in this position, but whilst I am here, I am going to quickly adapt and put foot to posterior and survive, I hope they develop this more in this sequel, but for here and now; Grace/Weaving go through this metamorphosis throughout this film; where she gets more and more confident/self-assured for an example using colourful adult language references with this vehicle assistance operator, I will tell you right now if they haven't developed this character in this sequel I will be absolutely fuming, because they could be onto something really excellent where they could build a trilogy around Grace/Weaving: I just hate seeing wasted potential of any kind on any level.

This film receives: 5/10, this film is mixed; on one hand from me; this franchise could have some real potential and we could just be scratching the surface in this instalment, but on the other hand and I will have to censor this; but the person I watch some content with; thought this film was manure. This film also has some awards accredited to its name such as 4 Winners which includes but not limited to Fright Meter Awards 2019 Fright Meter Award Best Actress Samara Weaving, 24 Nominees which also include but not limited to from the same award ceremony/event Best Costume Design Avery Plewes; on a quick side note; in hindsight is richly deserved as they really did put the authentic presentation and touches into this project throughout.
