Patrick Swayze would be rolling over in his grave: briefly; we meet Elwood Dalton [Jake Gyllenhaal:] he is
an ex-UFC fighter with a destructive personality mix that with a death wish as
well, he gets offered up to $20,000 for a month just to keep the riffraff out
of this place known as Roadhouse, but whilst he is there he also gets involved
with things as well.
Generally speaking: the storyline/script and art is... well complete and
utter garbage; they have it very, incredibly loosely based on the original 1989
version and that is it; and when I say incredibly loosely based on the original
I am saying as good eyesight as Mr Mungo at best. What the hell were they
thinking? I knew this film was going to be a big problem within may be 45
seconds or less: it just didn't or doesn't seem to embody the 1989 version in
any way shape or form, now put some meat on the bone: straight away this
particular Roadhouse takes place in this sunny background and sunny atmosphere:
which completely from the outset goes against the 1989 version as it is meant
to be a being polite a rough area and a bit of a dump and if they think this
area is a rough area they would have really struggled back in the 1989 version:
yes they have some troublemakers but they are weak as hell, it really is quite
embarrassing really, I mean as the person I watch some of this content with
said at least they had got the cage right around the performance stage and yes
we have a blind person performing for one song I believe. The framework and
pacing of this; 121 minutes film is insufferable as the script really doesn't
go anywhere quickly or efficiently or quite frankly I was pretty much done this
film so early on I couldn't give a dam about it, I was just happy to get
through this film and to never, ever see it again.
Action, art and comedy; I can
happily leave most of these action sequences as they are really uninspiring and
nothing special; I mean now and again we have either from the perspective of
Dalton's perspective or keeping up with this sequence in question which from an
artistic perspective is tiresome and if these sequences with keeping up with
the action are not fluently kept up with the action they do tend to come out
like this just behind the sequence as it relates to timing and consequently
incredibly sloppy: but we do have an underwater sequence which is probably the
best of the action sequences and then as it relates to the art we have Dalton
and another character enjoying some beers where the water and land are close
together and finally these comical moments in the action sequences even when
Dalton speaks to this hench-person that they have already crossed paths before
and even on this first meeting he was the kind of joke hench-person in short we
can get away with it once but going and doing it again and again is boring as
hell.
Character developments, comedy and
performances; on both counts they are atrocious; I mean Dalton was/is meant to
be this in his heart a nice guy, but when he loses his loses his temper bad
things happen, but this version of this character; it's just a giant penis, yes
he made trying a little self-discipline by a pinch as it relates to the
original, but he is still too eager to show off his skills and what is this
comedy going he does with it as well, to be honest most of these character
developments and performances are of a low quality: there is not one character
or performer I can say that stuck out in a positive way, I mean if you want
them to be fair and reasonable all of the background characters including small
roles they did okay for what they were and some supporting characters/performers
can be seen in the same light as well: but the main screen characters and
performers; how can I say this; thanks but no thanks; they were poor.
This film receives: 1/10, this film is poor; as the person that I watch
some of this content with said that they would give this movie -1. As far as I
am concerned this has no right to be called Roadhouse, because I don't know
what this is, but it certainly isn't Roadhouse that is for damn sure and it has
one extra scene right at the end of the first credits, yet for some strange
reason it has some positive awards to its name such as; 1 Winner American
Cinema Editors, USA 2025 Eddie Best
Edited Feature Film - Non-Theatrical Doc Crotzer and 2 Nominees which include
but not limited to SXSW Film Festival Audience Award Headliners Doug Liman
