I could do a better job than you: basically; we meet Bruce Nolan [Jim Carrey:] he is a
field news reporter for Eyewitness News on WKBW-TV and let's just say things
are not or have not been going his way, he begins to question God and his
infinite wisdom. So eventually God [Morgan Freeman:] this individual has in
some religious text been responsible for the creation of the world and
everything in it, me this up with Nolan
and gives him his responsibilities and powers: but there is only one rule and
that is you can't mess with free will, yet Nolan is still able to screw things
up with his girlfriend Grace Connelly [Jennifer Aniston:] she is a teacher in a
kindergarten class [I should point out: this is based on my viewing experience
so just in case I am wrong I will apologise for any inconvenience: I don't
think I am, but just in case nonetheless.]
Generally speaking: the framework and pacing of this 101 film is good; well
it just has to go at a good pace and allow this film to play out and do its
thing really
Comedy,
action and art; Sam the Dog [Buster the Dog:] he is Nolan and Connelly's dog
that can't seem to get the hang of the right place to go to the bathroom, Nolan
plays this hand gesture trumpet, these parting of the Red Sea references are
amusing and so much more, before I continue I am fully aware that this film is
as of this content well over 20 years old, so I have no intention of being
harsh, but at the same time I do have to point out that; they are looking old
Character
developments and performances; the character developments are perfectly
designed to challenge what they need to challenge or/and be [I will discuss
this more in my final section.] But it is predominantly down to Carrey, Freeman
and Anderson to put in these smooth and excellent performances; be it Freeman
taking on this god role, or Carrey turning to a nonbeliever and always
searching for more; even though he has plenty in his life; he just doesn't see
it or/and Anderson is a believer; she is quite happy, is almost content [she is
waiting to move on in her life with Nolan/Carrey and prays for him to find
contentment in some fashion. A special mention has to go to Steven Carell/Steve
Carell as Evan Baxter: he is Nolan's rival at WKBW-TV and this is Nolan plays
trumpet to; his performance is likewise excellent as he and Carrey are magical
as rivals; so with this all being said I have decided to change my mark of this
film by not one but two extra marks, because everyone should see it at least
once in your lifetime.
This film receives: 10/10, this film is top-notch entertainment; it
challenges I have to be very careful what I say here, but with that being said
hypothetically it challenges the idea of regardless of whatever you believe in
that it, yet again hypothetically maybe
difficult for this religious being/entity to give us everything we want,
without causing some kind of ramifications in the bigger scheme of things; it
does this in a good-natured which ultimately is harmless, but the viewers can
get its point. This film has a blooper reel in the closing credits at some
point and yes this film does have some awards to its name and I think I'm safe
to say which I will show you not all of them are positive.
