So here we go again: I am not angry at this turn of events as AJ Styles has always, always alluded to retiring around or just before he turns 50 years old and as of this content was first created he is 48 years old. So even though his name is in the title of this content, I have no problems with Styles whatsoever, where I have a problem and I am pretty sure actually I am quietly confident I am not the only one here. But where I have a problem is simply this; this John Cena's retirement tour this year is anything to go by where I have been watching it loosely from a far it has been a shower of manure on every single level.

They should have done basically so much more fun things; like they should have had a mixture of talent throwing down and call it "The Ruthless Aggression Open" where yes we could have had the likes of Randy Orton, King Rhodes, but we could have also had something a bit goofy like Rhea Ripley in a rap battle or Chad Gable [if he wasn't on the injury shelf.] But what we actually have been given is absolutely manure, I think the entire The Rock, Cody, Cena heel turn/17th history making world championship situation was a complete cock up and just recently the Brock Lesnar match up at WWE Wrestlepalooza 2025 was yet another nail in the coffin of this retirement tour. I didn't expect Cena to win, but I did expect him to last more than 10 seconds under 9 minutes which on some research is by far the shortest match on the card which is just fudgin' sad to be honest with you, I can see Walter being Cena's last ever opponent/match, so they can do this genuine passing the torch from one gatekeeper of a generation to the next gatekeeper of a generation or they could leave it all out there and have a triple threat match including Roman Reigns to have three gatekeepers of their generations collide where Walter should come out on top, this is how Cena should be retiring with blood and thunder, no whimper.

Back to Styles; basically if the WWE could not repeat the past year next year with Styles I think I am safe to say it on the behalf of everyone connected to wrestling I would be very grateful, because be it Cena or Styles; yes they have took very different roads, but they have very much the same standing within the wrestling industry and I may not be the biggest Cena, but I can recognise cena and/or Styles need to go out in a blaze of glory and yes as tradition would dictate always on their back in their last match, so I really do hope that Styles' retirement plans or if there are any are much better planned out for 2026, because Cena deserves better and Styles deserves one last decent ride whatever plans are for 2026 or fingers crossed let's hope they have some at the very least , I understand that is final match could be at WrestleMania 42/2026: so it should be against Seth Rollins for the WWE Heavyweight Championship [ based on current situation] or if the WWE don't Styles could always come over to AEW for a year, then he could say at the time of his retirement he had wrestled for every major promotion.
