We
are back with Queen Victoria later on in life: briefly; Queen Victoria [Judi Dench:] the Queen in her
later stages in life as she makes an unlikely friend in Abdul Karim/other name
[Ali Fazal:] he serves the Queen in the later stages of her reign and this is
their story.
Generally
speaking: the framework, pacing of this 111
minutes film is good: Script and
character developments; I am pretty sure they skipped more than a few years out
towards the later stages of this film; one minute she is old and the next
minute she is old; old and the person I watch some of this content with pointed
out that no one else had physically showing the signs of ageing, I was thinking
I would bring this up just in case if you watched it; thinking " Did we
just missed something here?" And I am here to reassure you no that is how
the film is.
Art; they did a fantastic job of bringing this part of history to life with the scene constructions, wardrobe and everything else; it is clean and tidy and of the most high standards.
Character developments,
performances and comedy; minus what I said earlier; as this is a historical
drama based on fact that these interpretations were spot on, consequently their
character developments and performances from mostly everyone in the cast and
their chemistry is all good; but Dench puts in a masterful performance as Queen
Victoria: as she got nominated for an example this award Golden Globes, USA
2018 Golden Globe Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture - Musical
or Comedy Judi Dench: as Queen Victoria: she does with great ease put across
that be for meeting Karim, that she is very much board with life and its
mundane process, but when she meets Karim: it quickly dawned on her that
someone alongside her of similar but completely different intellect can be fun
and educational. Karim/Fazal: is very happy to serve his Queen in any way she
sees fit, but he never forgets that sometimes correcting her, he chooses to be
polite about it: it is a great shame that Fazal didn’t pick up any positive
nominees for this performance, because he does deserve at least one or you know
as a partnership with Dench . But always remember even though the Queen may be
getting older; she still has these massive great big grapefruits to rule her
kingdom and more as in this one sequence of events she reminds everyone within
the household family or subjects or anyone else; she still has the biggest
grapefruits in their household as everyone else that tried to cross her; be it
in one room or another; their collective grapefruits are shrinking into
raisins: this is a powerful yet highly comical part of the film.
This
film receives: 7/10, this film is good; I really
wanted to give this film something slightly a bit higher, I think after
everything is taken into consideration this is on balance a fair outcome, okay
a high 7. But if you like historical/period dramas like Mrs Brown, this one
will also suit you down to the ground, but I would also suggest watch them in
this order so that you can get a better picture of Queen Victoria's life in some
kind of chronological order. This film also has some awards accredited to its
name such as 3 Winners include but not limited to Hollywood Film Awards 2017
Hollywood Film Award Composer of the Year Thomas Newman and Irish Film and
Television Awards 2018 IFTA Award Best Costume Design Consolata Boyle. 15
Nominees which likewise include but not limited to Academy Awards, USA 2018

Sheppard and Best Achievement in Costume Design Consolata Boyle
