He really can't shoot to save his
life: briefly; we need Charles
"Charlie" Heller [Rami Malek:] he is an cryptographer; basically a
highly skilled tech individual for the CIA, that breaks code and analyses it,
but after a tragic terrorist incident where he loses his wife, he is now
seeking revenge. Col Robert "Hendo" Henderson [Laurence Fishburne:]
this highly ranked individual has the difficult task of training Heller at Camp
Peary, but Heller can't shoot for toffee as he is target essentially has to be
point-blank range in front of him; but there is another way.
Generally speaking: the framework and pacing of this 123 minutes film is
good; everything knows what it is doing and it sticks to the plan really.
Character
developments, performances and comedy; Heller; I did wonder when the cinema
industry going to realise the truth and in this case the truth being that it
just does not have to be athletic or/and physical people being action types of
characters anymore; you know there are these powerful things called computers
and as I previously stated Heller isn't the shooting type, hell he is even the
physical type of individual you are, but as you will see throughout this film,
you will still give it a go, but his obvious strengths are technology and
anything to do with the intellect side of gathering information. Malek or/and
Fishburne either individually or together have this excellent chemistry which
has its comedy bits and pieces in the dialogue exchanges as Col. Henderson
tells these individuals that in paraphrasing; you may have underestimated this
individual or later on we have Heller I am paraphrasing again; if you jump
really quickly you may escape as Heller walks away; you know he does this whole tough guy thing. So this film works because of the this will
overdo refreshing character direction as it relates to using technology to
cause harm instead of guns and/or Heller/Malek and/or Col. Henderson/Fishburne;
so hypothetically if there was to be a sequel; they would need to definitely
bring these to back and for the rest of the cast on both counts they are all
good.
Action
and art; as I have been indicating using technology to take care of a certain
part of the mission; such as one example Heller would like to know this
information from this individual night swimming in them this very uniquely
placed swimming pool [after a little bit of research, hay I can't remember this
what if anything was mentioned in the film, but never mind; it is Embassy
Gardens in London; named The Sky Pool] where broadly speaking it acts like a
bridge between this hotel high up in midair and without giving too much away
Heller has set a trap, so if this individual doesn't tell him what he wants to
know; well what once was 100% safe will no longer be safe; they really did put
a lot of effort into this sequence of events I would really like to see this
sequence get at minimum a positive nomination for its imagination, detail and
effort and yes for a sequence that is the right amount of time they make it
naturally chaotic as long.
This film receives: 8/10, this film is excellent; yes it is a very sturdy
film, Malek or/and Fishburne bringing what they bring to the table and because
of the different take, but also refreshing take on what action character should
be by today's modern world and yes I have decided to award an extra mark based
on this and the artistic visions
