Let's be honest this sequel has
problems: in a nutshell; Mark Darcy [Colin Firth:] is a humans rights
lawyer, which at one point is the boyfriend of Bridget Jones [Renée Zellweger]
which it is good he is excellent at his job, because Jones will find herself in
a spot of trouble in a Thailand prison, as her working partner for this content
for the network that owns Sit Up Britain Daniel Cleaver [Hugh Grant:] sees
Jones being apprehended and leaves her hanging, this is where I should point
out; he is an ex-boyfriend of Jones, how can I put this nicely; he is a bit of
a posterior and him and Darcy have a history which simply put; they don't like
one another.
Generally speaking: the script, framework and pacing of 108 minutes film is
mostly tiresome, it really does take Jones being placed in a Thailand prison
for this sequel to wake up and roughly from here until the end well let this
way without sounding arrogant I think my mark for this title is a fair
conclusion.
The
problems are not tiny ones either; because roughly speaking there is clearly
three years between its predecessor and this title everyone obviously looks
older, which clearly is not the problem because sands of time waits for no
person, but however this is the problem and if you think about it it is quite a
big problem; as I said there had been years between these films, but script
wise we are talking months; it would have been better if they just take the
following year, because everything from ageing to life changing decisions
sounds much better and a lot less red flags for me personally.
Comedy;
yes we do have some bits and pieces re-wrapped be it as it relates to Jones'
posterior or/and Darcy vs. Cleaver: The Rematch as it relates to the action.
But for the new material we Jones struggling with skiing and all of that much
later Jones teaching her Thail fellow prisoners how to sing Madonna's Like A
Virgin 1984 properly.
Character
developments and performances; I really do wish as it relates to they gave it a
year instead of months; because as I have already indicated things would have
flowed a lot better, instead of giving off these red flags feeling. So after
everything is settled down and going in the right direction there is some good
character developments and likewise they still have this excellent assembled
cast of returning performs with some additions, but again as it relates to his
character developments it just seems a long way around to where we needed to
get to and it was the cast that were able to keep this sequel going.
This film receives: 5/10, this film is mixed; as you may have gotten the
feeling of it after everything is said and done; this sequel comfortably finds
itself at this mark in my marking system. This film also has some awards to its
name and no they are not all positive; so including but not limited to Golden
Globes, USA 2005 Golden Globe Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion
Picture - Comedy or Musical Renée Zellweger and now onto the negatives which
include but not limited to The Stinkers Bad Movie Awards 2004 Stinker Award
Worst Screenplay Adam Brooks Richard Curtis Andrew Davies Helen Fielding
