Recommendation of: WWE Money In The Bank 2024 by AverageMansReviews - Spoiler Alarm!
Warning: there is flashing effects/colourful/adult language reference/blood warning/burning
Jey Uso vs. Carmelo Hayes vs. the WWE Speed Champion Andrade vs. Chad Gable vs. LA Knight vs. Drew McIntyre Money in the Bank Ladder Match for a Men's Championship Match Contract: this even has an excellent opening sequence to this event with basically the theme of yellow, green and orange and the robbery theme.
Sadly Michael Cole makes reference to the fact of Sika Anoaʻi passing on 25/06/2024 as Jey Uso attended his funeral today [as he is getting into the ring.] May I just say RIP Sika Anoaʻi, I would like to send out the same sentiment for his tag team partner and family member Afa Anoaʻi passed away 16/08/2024: you may have both passed on, but it is very clear that your memories will live on throughout your generations of a wrestling dynastie. RIP Sika 1945-2024 & Afa 1943-2024 Anoaʻi.
Graves points out this entry it is loud in here with McIntyre getting the Punk treatment now and again from the crowd, I don't like the flying guillotine leg drop by Andrade on Gable's throat; okay I may not be a personal wrestler and never likely to be. But this is just a stupid move whilst Gable is hanging off the ladder; even Graves puts over on commentary says unbelievable and then how this could've gone badly. I just don't like it even though McIntyre holds Gable in position; this is an unnecessary risk for all intents and purposes a 8/10 pop from the audience.
Cole downplays Hayes' only other ladder match, because it was in NXT which I also didn't like, because why play it down? It doesn't matter where it takes place a ladder match is still a ladder match, then Cole contradicts himself by praising Hayes by saying what an athlete the ex-NXT Champion is. Knight performs this neck breaker interpretation on Gable onto a ladder, unfortunately I have to echo the same sentiment from earlier about the guillotine leg drop, what was the point of doing this neck breaker interpretation when it is clear both Gable and Knight really hurt themselves for a not worth it response from the audience and the crowd using adult language reference with Graves saying he doesn't know who got the worst of that and Cole putting over in a nutshell these wrestlers will do anything to get that contract. Andrade performs a sunset flip power bomb on Hayes from basically from one ladder to another ladder set up on the first one, is it me or is this becoming a usual spot for this kind of match. This match/match slot receives: 7/10.
Bron Breakker vs. Champ Sami Zayn; Singles Match for the WWE Intercontinental Championship: Cole called a move a moonsailt whilst Graves calls the same move an Arabian press; you are looking for when the action reaches the ramp side of the ring, it is also highlighted on commentary by Graves that basically Breakker takes a hit of Zayn's knee. So I have a quick question when oh when are we just going to slightly repackage Bron Breakker as Bron Steiner? Because at this point it is the worst kept secret in the wrestling as in we have in one way or another commentary making references to his family ties anyway. I have seen more than enough of Breakker throughout the years to know he is more than worthy to carry on his family's name, for me even though I don't watch the WWE content on a consistent basis, but I do remember when they were trying to make Roman Reigns a thing originally, where if you remember; they were making references to he was/is The Rock's cousin, which eventually we can all agree that did no favours for the growth of Reigns in fact let's be honest it harmed him as many of us [a lot of us grew to hate him,] it would be fantastic not to go through something similar to this ever again. Then we have a table spot there are only two reasons why I bring this up; we have sound issues for a little moment and Breakker seems to take a little knock himself as Graves brings it up, but he is fine to give him the match and finally what with the announcements in likewise one way, background on a modern day situation that has recently passed [when this content was first created] or another, appearances in one way or another and a request. This match/match slot receives: 10/10.
Seth Rollins vs. Champ The Judgement Day's: Damian Priest; Last Chance Match for the World Heavyweight Championship [If Priest wins, Rollins will never challenge for the title for as long as Priest is champion.] If Rollins wins, Priest must leave The Judgment Day: Priest performs a back body drop reversal where Rollins lands on his hip; he does continue the match but let's just say it was not the best moment. Graves and Cole make little mistakes on commentary individually but they correct themselves such as for example Michael Cole makes reference to Priest cashing in his money in the bank opportunity at Money In The Bank, quickly followed by a correction of WrestleMania this year. To be honest I have no idea what went wrong in the next point: either Priest or the referee Rod Zapata forgets to either kick out or counts the 3 on a pinfall but everyone from the crowd to the individuals in the ring and the commentators we are all; a bit confused to say the very least and yes I have watched this sequence many times; he definitely counts the 3. This match/match slot receives: 6/10.
Men's Money In The Bank Cash In: I mean I get it, I just don't have to like it. This match/match slot receives: 1/10.
Damage CTRL's: Iyo Sky vs. Chelsea Green vs. Lyra Valkyria vs. Tiffany Stratton vs. Naomi vs. Zoey Stark; Money in the Bank Ladder Match for a Women's Championship Match Contract: there is a video package highlighting all of these statistics and so on, but there is one thing I wish they would have left out and that would be 2017, if you're a young let me explain briefly a man by the name of James Ellsworth won it technically and gave it to Carmella; so in short they had to rerun it on an episode of SmackDown. Valkyria tries to perform a black body drop withSky with a ladder set up in the right far corner, I fully expect for Sky to take a bump here, but the transaction from Valkyria it looks and feels like it crumbles so possibly both wrestlers are going to feel this one or on a replay it looks like a mixture between a back body drop/turn suplex; continuing Valkyria loses her footing on a tornado DDT from the same corner, but Sky insists Valkyria/fixes it up so that Valkyria can deliver a version of the tornado DDT. Stark performs a samoan drop onto a ladder with Valkyria, but unfortunately Starks just about misses the ladder which is lying down which the commentary team in a nutshell put this over as that possibly hurt; yes I am paraphrasing, but I think you get the sentiment. Okay this is getting stupid now, okay I may not be all likely to be a professional wrestler, but when Starks catapults herself from outside the ring using the ring ropes as a slingshot onto Valkyria end we end we can clearly see/hear Starks' head basically coming off the ladder and clearly being in pain with essentially the commentary echoing the same sentiment as they just did maybe a few minutes ago with the crowd also indicating by sound effects; you know what that looks as if it hurt. I don't like these two comments: Cole making reference to a car wreck and Graves making reference to a hush silence from the crowd over the safety of these six competitors and then using the car crashed reference himself. Another but different version of a power bomb spot from earlier in the men's match Starks does it a power bomb on Valkyria on a ladder to another set up, with both Cole and Graves on commentary on one hand essentially feeling uncomfortable with what they are watching, but on the other hand enjoying it. Not cool Sky performs from the top of a ladder onto another horizontal ladder an inverted piledriver; I don't like this move, because it is a big risk for a small payoff on the basic version forgetting the ladder element for a second, I mean just go and ask Steve Austin what this move is like when it goes wrong? I know for those older wrestling fans it was a botch when he faced Owen Hart at WWF/WWE SummerSlam 1997 [WWF/WWE Intercontinental Championship vs. Kiss my posterior Match:] so if you wondered why I really don't like this spot in this ladder match there you go. But back to here and now in a nutshell the commentary team could it over on commentary that this match was crazy in one way or another. Graves says girls, but quickly corrects himself to women and yes on the replay that inverted piledriver goes clean as it came, but I still don't have to like it and I stand by my comments I said about little payoff and what with this is awesome chants, with the commentary team giving them a standing ovation and then again with giving praise after a little break. This match/match slot receives: 5/10.
The Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes, Randy Orton, and Kevin Owens vs. The Bloodline's: Solo Sikoa, Tama Tonga, Tanga Loa, and/or Jacob Fatu; Six-Man Tag Team Match: interesting interview segment, Graves makes a correction from last night's SmackDown, Umaga more than once and others get mentioned on commentary as it relates to The Bloodline, we have the crowd being very vocal including but not limited to say We Want Roman, Graves made a little mistake talking about The Bloodline but instantly corrected himself. Now I don't know if this was Cole or someone else feeding him this line; but basically he goes on to say; he cannot believe the reaction of the crowd. I hope, I really do hope that someone was feeding this line over his headset. Because it was just a stupid; because the crowd were reacting perfectly as Sikoa is a big heel and Graves indicates in short this is not a popularity contest. The final section of this match slot is a mixture between structured messy and just messy to the point where I hope medical doctor is okay [Graves and Cole indicates the job role] as she accidentally takes a hit in this match and someone has to do something not once but twice to get it right. This match/match slot receives: 7/10.
The average mark of this pay-per-view is: 7/10, I think after everything is said and done this is the best reflection of this event in a number and on a quick side note is special mention has to go out to the man in the Macho King outset, I could be wrong but he does look very similar to another man that showed up in the same outfit at another event, but I could be wrong, but I don't think so.
