Recommendation of: WWE WrestleMania 39/2023: Night 2 by AverageMansReviews
Warning/Disclaimer: there is flashing effects/colourful effects/I have
never been or are likely to be a professional wrestler.
Brock Lesnar vs. Omos [with MVP;]
Singles Match: in short I think this was as best
as this match up was going to get, so for roughly 5 minutes of wrestling and a
hard-hitting style, basically hass vs. hass. This match/match slot receives:
7/10.
Liv Morgan & Raquel Rodriguez
vs. Natalya & Shotzi vs. Ronda Rousey & Shayna Baszler vs. Chelsea
Green & Sonya Deville; Women's WrestleMania Showcase Fatal Four-Way Tag
Team Match: this pretty much went away I was
expecting it to go so I really don't have much to say here, so I will just let
them my marking speak for me. This match/match slot receives: 6/10.
The Brawling Brutes' Sheamus [with
Butch & Ridge Holland] vs. Drew McIntyre vs. Champ Imperium's Walter
[Ludwig Kaiser & Giovanni Vinci;] Triple Threat Match for the WWE
Intercontinental Championship: we
had Titus O'Neil back on commentary for this match with Graves and Cole,
between this trio they had a lot of fun with this match/match slot. Well it
easy when you have three men in the in the ring beating the hell out of one
another so no surprises here this match is/was very much the hard style of
professional wrestling and because of that it protects the loser's to an
extent, because they still strong and better for having this match, but they
don't lose too much, based on the grounds they look as hard as nails, so they
can still beat 90% of the locker room, but whenever they lose their go down
fighting. So by the end of this match we have the entire trio of commentators
standing up and applauding the future legendary classic match that we have just
seen. This match/match slot receives: 10/10.
Asuka vs. Champ Bianca Belair [with
The Divas of Compton;] Singles Match for the WWE Raw Women's Championship: I don't have too much to say here other than, I am not
sure if Belair was going for a simplex as she brings Asuka back into the ring
from the apron roughly around the far left turnbuckle or to me it looks like a
form of a DDT, generally speaking after some thinking about it I have decided
to remove a mark from this match/match slot. This match/match slot receives:
6/10.
The Miz vs. Mystery opponent; The
Miz's Open Challenge Singles Match: in
summary; in fairness and balance taking everything into consideration, it is
what it is. Full disclosure I had to go and get some sleep, so this is where I
pick up from watching this event. This match/match slot receives: 5/10.
Edge vs. The Judgement Day's
"The Demon" Finn Bálor; Hell In A Cell Match: start with this is just bad booking and no this is not
me giving the result or way, I would have said it regardless of the result, as
made reference in my predictions of this second night. So now I have seen this
match for myself, it does what they have designed it to do. I am smart enough
to know that Cory Graves is possibly making a cheap pop AEW when he says these
guys aren't going to stop of their own volition, thank god we have world-class
medical professionals to protect them from themselves, let's be honest. Then
Cole links in to basically in short reinforce that sentiment about protecting
themselves and finally this is where the blood warning comes into effect. This
match/match slot receives: 5/10.
Cody Rhodes vs. Champ The
Bloodline's Roman Reigns [with Paul Heyman & Solo Sikoa;] Singles Match for
the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship: Cory Graves takes another shot at AEW makes reference
to I am roughly paraphrasing Rhodes being elite in this business, he needs to
climb this mountain, but later on he makes reference to Reigns Championship
being under threat or something to that effect. So like last night I take it
Graves is turning heel again? At this rate he will have more turns than the Big
Show and those of a certain age would agree with me by saying that would take
some doing. A little while later we have Cole making reference to this would be
Rhodes first wrestleMania, whilst this is Reigns seventh. I can't be the only
one thinking this is not a wise statistic to bring up. Just based on the fact
it highlights the fact that the WWE have overly relied on Reigns before and now
during his let's just call it kingdom run, but I digress Cole makes reference
to the fact he is the first ever to defend his championship three WrestleMania
in a row, but Cole also puts over Reigns [and Cole didn't mention Sikoa's link
as well] to the Anoaʻi.
Cole
makes a little blooper by calling Cory Cody and then quickly correcting himself
with Cory and then slightly does it again with the name of Roman Reigns. I will
discuss the commentary team again in a minute, I just want to generally talk
about this match briefly and I will phrase it like this, because this event was
in LA/Hollywood; what we have here is a sequel that no one wanted to see.
But
back to Graves and Cole; I know what happened to Graves, but for some reason he
stopped being a heel and he just adopted the right approach as Cole does as
well, which made this match/match slot feel bigger and it is because of this
team I have decided to award another mark. This match/match slot receives:
6/10.
The average mark of this
pay-per-view is: 5/10, this mark is based on these
two nights, so yes the Intercontinental Championship match/match slot brought
down the house the rest of this card is not much to write home about and based
on the second night I will be creating more content on at some point in the
near future, I am not just saying that I generally want to put out some content
about this card. But it is just finding time, I want to begin it sometime this
week so all I can tell you is I have lots to say I just can't say it here,
because this content is designed for that purpose, there was in some way a lot
filler advertising including Rollins entrance from the previous night as well,
so advertising okay, but advertising with filler not so okay as in one step two
far and finally watching some of the re-cap content at the end of this event I
am now settled on the fact Belair was going for a DDT.
