Warning: there is flashing effects/colourful effects/drugs/shooting/torture/vomiting/medical

I know this film is highly rated in one way or another, but I didn't think much to it: unfortunately this young girl has gone missing Amanda McCready [Amanda McCready;] so the auntie and uncle Beatrice "Bea" McCready [Amy Madigan] and uncle Lionel McCready [Titus Welliver] reach out to this Private Investigation Agency ran by this boyfriend and girlfriend Patrick Kenzie [Casey Affleck] and  Angie Gennaro [Michelle Monaghan:] which she at first was not keen on this case, but after seeing a picture of Amanda McCready they take a look into the case, then we meet Captain Jack Doyle [Morgan Freeman:] which he is in charge of this case, has some personal experience of these situations and is not at first exactly warm on the idea of having Private Investigators working alongside him and his officers.

The frame work and pacing for this 114 minutes film is slow and steady, roughly around the hour mark you can be forgiven for thinking this film has finished, but it moves on another case and that is all I can say about it; without giving too much away.

Art: now and again we have this quick moving sky effects; these are elegant moments in this project.

Character developments and performances; generally speaking first of all they are on both counts solidly good. But to now be a bit more specific Amy Ryan as Helene McCready is a really unlikeable character, to the point where she was irritating me, but after a little bit of research and full disclosure after seeing that she has either won or/and received nominations for this performance for quite a few [a lot] it is safe to say this character is meant to be really unlikeable and on reflection Michelle Monaghan as Angie Gennaro; should have a minimum been nominated for an award, because she in her character design basically represents us the viewer.

Action: there are gunfights; this title is not about action so on one hand focuses much more on the investigating side of things and on the other hand yes this is all I have to work with.

This film receives: 4/10, this film is mixed; it is a solid film for me and as I have already referenced it has some awards accredited to it as such as 33 Winners; that includes Alliance of Women Film Journalists 2007 Best Supporting Actress Amy Ryan and Austin Film Critics Association 2007 AFCA Award Best First Film Ben Affleck [Director.] Nominees 32 including Academy Awards, USA 2008 Oscar Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role Amy Ryan and Irish Film and Television Awards 2009 IFTA Award Best International Actor Casey Affleck [which in the interest of fairness and balance Prism Awards 2008 Prism Award Performance in a Feature Film Casey Affleck and whilst I am here National Society of Film Critics Awards, USA 2008 NSFC Award Best Supporting Actress Amy Ryan For Before the Devil Knows You're Dead.]
