The Good Liar 2019 by AverageMansReviews

Warning/Background information: there is flashing
effects/colourful effects/reference to Vladimir Putin in a moment of comedy
which in these modern times anything to do with this individual isn't funny for
obvious reasons, but now I have said that in this film's defence it was
released in 2019/sexual assault/stabbing/cutting/shooting/running
over/disfigurement/animal cruelty/torture/medical. Background information,
because of the way this film has been designed I will only be giving the very
minimum of information on these characters and performers
Catfishing for the elderly is what we have here: Estelle/Betty McLeish [Helen
Mirren] as she has been on an Internet dating service and she arranges to meet
up with a date by the name of Brian/Roy Courtnay [Ian McKellen,] but he looks
and sounds like that there is something not quite right about him as her
grandson Stephen [Russell Tovey] tries to tell her but she doesn't listen.
The pacing of this 109 minutes film
incredibly slow
Action: for what action we have it
is what it is, but once again in the defence of this film, it is not one of
those films that has a lot of action to offer, it is more about research and
pulling off a con and that is as much as I can tell you without giving too much
away.
The character developments and the
performances: they are good versions of what they are meant to be and likewise
generally speaking for now as I will bring this up again in the ending
paragraph the performances positives
This film receives: 5/10, this film is mixed; it is a solid little film, but as I
have already referenced it is just really, really, really slow it is just as
well that individually or as a lead partnership of Mirren and McKellen put in
their usual high standard of performance and with the cast behind them all with
good chemistry working off one another to get this film over the line. This
film has some Nominees to his name; 5 Nominees that include AARP Movies for
Grownups Awards 2020 Movies for Grownups Award Best Actress Helen Mirren and
The Queerties 2020 Queerty Film Performance Ian McKellen.
