Review Time

Warning: there is colourful effects/flashing effects/burning

Off we go from London, England to Paris, France and back again: in the late 1950s London, England we need Mrs Ada Harris/Mrs Harris [Lesley Manville;] she is an excellent hard-working cleaner, after the tragic death of her husband Sergeant Edward Harris away serving his country. One day at work she comes across this elegant and very expensive of £500 Christian Dior/Dior dress, she gets an idea to do anything above board to go to Paris, France to purchase her very own Christian Dior/Dior dress, she believes it is her husband giving her this fortune and luck to get her there.

The pacing of this 115 minutes film is solidly good; it knows what it is doing and get on with it.

The art is clear to see from a drawing of an artist's imagination/version of her when she was younger with colour [or I could be completely wrong about this to be fair, I am just trying to be kind] at the beginning of this film on the scream with the title and at the end with some of the ending credits the viewers get these white drawings of dress designs on these models which you can clearly see because they are on a black background. Obviously if you are into the fashion industry or anything surrounding this topic, this film will suit you down to the ground as we get to see some of these dresses and also this film has also been designed to welcome its viewers to the late 1950s and it softly and smoothly does that by meeting Mrs Harris as she is beginning her route around cleaning these houses on this morning as she is almost hit by a cyclist; including the set designs or landscapes or scenery or a wardrobe or anything else to bring this film to life.

The character developments and performances; the character developments are all good, likewise this is a good cast performance, but our lead role Lesley Manville as Mrs Ada Harris/Mrs Harris should be really picking up some positive awards for this performance; based on as this character or/and performer she is the driving force behind the project and as this character she for 95% of the time tries to spread warmth and togetherness, don't get me wrong she is still a British Londoner with a backbone, but she by nature is a kind and warm-hearted person first of all and finally there is a sprinkling of comedy here and there, just for one example Mrs Harris instigates a potential strike if things don't change in Christian Dior/Dior.

This film receives: 6/10, this film is good; it is a pleasant little film, It should be noted that the person I watch some of these projects with would have given this project a higher mark.
