Review Time

Warning: there is man on woman violence, drugs, stabbing, shooting, running over.

Okay I will do it for $1 million: Nick Cage/other characters in one way or another [Nicholas Cage] is offered $1 million to attend this billionaire's birthday party Javi Gutierrez [Pedro Pascal] which happens to be his biggest super fan ever, originally Nicholas Cage rejects this very lucrative offer by his agent Richard Fink [Neil Patrick Harris] he accepted and tells him after this I am going to retire. But what seems to be a straightforward deal, turns out to be anything but as the CIA [Central Intelligence Agency] are keeping a very close eye on Javi Gutierrez, but the CIA Agents are CIA Agent are a husband-and-wife Martin Etten [Ike Barinholtz] and Vivian Etten [Tiffany Haddish] which they approach Nick Cage to help them in their investigation.

The pacing for this 107 minute film is slow to begin with, but stops dragging its feet and it does then move along at a good pace. The comedy content is not as fulfilling as it should have been and I mean this on a consistent basis, it isn't there and then it is their and then it isn't or I hasten to add some of the comedy falls flat. For an example of positive highlights of the comedy is when Nick Cage with Javi Gutierrez let's just say under the influences of substances; this is lively and engaging comedy and action as these two individuals believe that these two elderly people with ice creams are I am paraphrasing here but agents or something to that effect to in spying or going to do worse, which they are just two elderly people with their ice creams, but our two under the influence, firstly begin to freak out and secondly quickly run away; this sequence of events is well planned out and we get to see these two elderly people twice just sitting there having their ice creams. So maybe what they should have done is have these Nick and Javi under the influence of substances more often or Nick Cage spending more time with his self [mental manifestation known as Nicky,] he is Nick Cage's ego or can be seen as Nick Cage's dark side of his personality later on in the film as Nick Cage the person has to make a decision between the film star or real-life responsibilities; as it relates to Nicky in this sequence of events this is engaging and good art as Nicky points out who they are and so on, he does this very aggressively and angrily. As it relates to a character developments and performances; Nick Cage and Nicky is a comical and imaginative way to add layers to your lead role; Nicholas Cage should at least be nominated for some positive awards for this performance and all the other cast members do good as well.

This film receives: 7/10, this film is good; just before I finish I should just point out from an artistic perspective again, there is another engaging sequence where in short Nick Cage is in the swimming pool at the bottom of it, sitting there drinking a beer in a bottle and Javi Gutierrez dives in to rescue him. But now to finish off; I try not to go into watching any project expecting anything, but I was expecting a little bit more comedy in this film, because the trailer I watched whilst going to watch other films at the cinema at that time gave the illusion of this is going to be a quick pace comedy which is not the case, don't get me wrong it was good, but it could have been much better and yes I know I have slightly contradicted myself as it relates to expecting things, but you know what I am trying to say here.
