Why was this film ever green lighted to go into production?: This is where I would usually discuss or tell you a bit about the storyline, but in this particular case, I would just say this; Thomas Anderson/Neo [Keanu Reeves] gets brought out of The Matrix again, then to remember his life is a lie and to remember who he actually is again to free Tiffany/Trinity [Carrie-Anne Moss] from The Matrix and from The Analyst [Neil Patrick Harris.]

I don't know what they expect me to say about this film really; other than what a pile of manure this sequel is. Let's be positive for two minutes I can completely understand why this project has some awards accredited to its name for an example BAFTA Awards 2022 Nominee; BAFTA Film Award; Best Achievement in Special Visual Effects Tom Debenham Huw J. Evans Dan Glass J.D. Schwalm. Because this film does look and feel artistically and cosmetically a treat for the eyes and very satisfying, be it the landscapes or the scenery or pretty much anything other [I have said pretty much everything other, because in a little while I will be also criticising it, but the old cinema screen or a familiar scene with an old TV and so on in this scene; this is all very pleasing.]

The character developments and performances; well I get the character developments; on one hand they are good as in they serve their purpose but on the other hand they are insufferable as it relates to Thomas Anderson/Neo, likewise later on I will be discussing this as well, the only newcomer that from beginning to end that I can say is this individual character and performer stood out as she could easily gel with the old guard back in the day of this trilogy would be Bugs [Jessica Henwick] this character/performer is a captain of this ship known as The Mnemosyne, in fact she wins an award for this performance. Gold List 2022; Honorable Mention; Best Supporting Actress, we get a small piece of comedy as this recurring character The Merovingian [Lambert Wilson] as he goes on a rant about things and how they used to be, whilst this action sequence is taking place. Speaking of the action sequences for me they are hit and miss; Thomas Anderson/Neo vs. Morpheus - in a nutshell; firstly an Agent Smith and then Morpheus [Yahya Abdul-Mateen II] in this slightly familiar location of this Dojo program/training. This training program has had a massive update since we had last been here as you will see when you come to watch this film and as a quick mention yes the chopper sequence is good as well with Thomas Anderson and Trinity.

Now I think I have been kind enough about this film; the storyline is garbage it is designed for a nostalgia pop, this film goes on for roughly 148 minutes which is just too long, considering for the first 60 minutes; yes I did just say 60 minutes; one long hour, nothing really happens it just rambles on and on and on and on and on [I think you get the point] as it uses many scenes from previous films, as I have already highlighted yes this was good as it relates to the TV scene/sequence and on top of that I get why they are a using them for Thomas Anderson/Neo's character developments, but man after a while it really does suck either as his character developments or Tiffany/Trinity's character developments, it has just come back to me, they did this memory thing for the main returning characters, be it memory from scenes in this film or anything else, basically they take this good idea with  this TV scene/sequence and before this and after this scene they were beginning running dry or ran a dry.

The pacing for this film with or without the first hour in mind it is just terrible, it never seems to convincingly go with any fluency, like there may be a little bit here and a little bit there; but in essence it is a mini [car] going up a hill in third gear in snow; it will get you to your destination at the top of the hill to work eventually, but I wouldn't book any appointments for the first 90 minutes of work. Which no surprise anyway in turn makes this film feel incredibly long [ I know this film is a long film, but even more so] as these characters/performances left to basically fill up this empty space in these scenes. I am not aiming this at the characters or the performers, but as the person said with whom I watched this film with said " they could have easily taken out the first hour of this film and make it into a 90 minute film." I would have to agree, I had already got fed up and annoyed with this film after the first 25 minutes and they have potentially left it open for a sequel, which on some research as things stand in 2022 there isn't going to be one, but things could change based on the ending style of this film. Which I hope they don't make a sequel, actually I wish this film hadn't been made, because it really does tarnish the legacy of this franchise that is how bad this film is.

This film receives: 1/10, this film is poor; this is one of those occasions where I freely acknowledge that there is some positives to this film, but the negatives especially in this case really counterbalance any positives that this film has And just a polite heads up there is one after credit scene. This film has won 2 awards and nominated for 33; including somehow [no judgement or criticism here but I am just wondering how this is possible] Hawaii Film Critics Society 2022; HFCS Award Best Sci-Fi Film; positive award [at the same award event/ceremony] Worst Film of the Year; negative award. Now I get the theory and logic behind this, but isn't or wasn't there a better choice of sci-fi film? It just seems a little bit odd to be given a positive and negative awards such as these at the same event/ceremony.
