Review Time

Warning: there is flashing effects/colourful effects/animal cruelty/disfigurement

Storyline/Art/Comedy/Action/Characters/Performances: now in one way or another these all go hand-in-hand. Storyline; simply put I don't like it as it is based around animal cruelty [bullfighting,] so on one hand we have all this going on and on the other hand it is light and funny; it's like this black cloud hanging over this film, which makes this film incredibly difficult to mark, so I have just chosen the mark I felt to was best suited for this project, because there is no way in hell I am condoning this culture or activity and after the first ending credits there is an extra scene. So of course the pacing reflects this also from the perspective of light and funny equals smoothly mobile, but when we are going through a dark cloud it loses all momentum and really slows down [this is speculation; but it is like someone wanted to push the fact that bullfighting is wrong, well newsflash; I don't need a film to put over to me in some way or not that bullfighting is wrong.]

Art; when this film wants to be it can be eye-catching and beautiful for an example with many flowers in these scenes. I will talk about the Comedy and the Action here; we have this dance battle between these balls and these prim and proper horses.

Characters/Performances; the character developments are what they are and the same can be said for their performances; they are good, but however it is about the voices of McKinnon as Lupe and Tennant as Angus that really brought personality and comedy to their on-screen characters.

This film receives: 5/10, this film is mixed: I think I have made myself pretty clear on why this film receives this mark, but I should also point out two things; John Cena is the voice of fully grown Ferdinand and finally altogether this film has 22 awards to its name 2 Winners: including Humanitas Prize 2018; Humanitas Prize; Feature Film Category; Robert L. Baird [Screenplay by] Ferdinand. 20 Nominations including Academy Awards, USA 2018; Oscar; Best Animated Feature Film; Carlos Saldanha.
