Review Time: this title is good, but having said that it does
have some strange things about it as you will see going through this review.
Fundamental elements: I think there are some time jumps from
day to night and the other way around and I can say the same for the place
jumps as well, maybe one or two of them I am not too sure. The background music
or any other music used in this project is good, there are voice-over elements
and the movement of this title is
consistent, meaning it seems to know what it is doing and happy doing it.
Artistic visions: now at some points throughout this
title there are I believe to be 3-D elements being used, for one example these
running sequences throughout this location or locations, it is where a camera
shot is from the perspective of Ash's eye line/head movements, so when or if
his head moves we can see what he sees, they are to a high standard and they
show great imagination as well [I should just quickly say that the rest of the
artistic visions have been given the same level of details and attention.]
Action sequences: there is a racing sequence with
trainers and their Pokémon and other action sequences, these elements are good.
Pokémon things: now once again this is where I will be showing my
nerdiness, in the opening section the viewers will see Prof. Oak hand a Poké
Ball to Ash containing Pikachu, but the thing is Pikachu as far as I'm aware [I
could be wrong] has strong feelings about never going inside his Poké Ball. My
next point is this; now just in case for some reason in my previous Pokémon
reviews I have missed out that a Pokémon dies, I would like to apologize but I
don't think I have missed out this; but I could be wrong [but in fairness to
myself I don't discuss everything in any project I review.] The only reason I
am bringing this up now, it is because over the recent reviews as it relates to
the Pokémon films or feature-lengths there have been themes of death and this project
has it to.
But this death
isn't an easy one to understand if you are of a young age, without giving too
much away yes this Pokémon physically dies but lives on in a different form and
if you didn't think that was enough we have a Pokémon that shape shifts in this
project at different points into a girl, in one scene or sequence hands Ash a
roll of paper and gives Ash a little kiss, on the cheek somewhere around this
area I believe, it is a little bit strange now just for the record if it was a
real girl that went to kiss Ash, that would be okay and likewise if he went to
kiss a Pokémon on the head or something like this that would be okay, but this
whole thing just feels strange, because not only for the point I have just
made, but also we have a couple of characters pointing out in a nutshell was
that the real girl or the Pokémon, in fact I think one of the two characters
says something to the effect of I don't know but I am extremely jealous, which
makes it slightly more strange and that is coming from someone that is very
open-minded.
This film receives: 7/10, generally speaking I do feel
this project comfortably gets to this figure, but don't get me wrong it does
have some strange bits and pieces to it as well.
