It is 1998, Lower East Side: briefly; we meet Henry "Hank" Thompson [Austin Butler:] he once was a promising baseball player but after an incident that was no longer an option, so many years later nowadays he is a bartender, that unfortunately and no fault of his own finds himself right in the middle of some bother.

Generally speaking: the storyline/script may be something solid, but the other supporting components or/and elements really do suck; minus the framework and pacing of this 107 minutes film; which in short keeps this film going at a good pace, but I digress; such as Thomas' exposition character developments, where without giving too much away he takes some level of responsibility for it, even though his own memory recall shows us, okay he shouldn't have been drinking, but his friend also needs to take some level of responsibility for his own actions, so Thompson taking full responsibility is just dumb, obviously they clearly have gone down the narrative of some element of guilt consequently full responsibility character developments, but I highlight again it is so dumb, because his own mind/mental imagery that we get to see actually betrays him, based on the actual situation or/and his friend.

Comedy and action; the only time I had a small laugh was when we had Yvonne [Zoë Kravitz:] she is Thomas' girlfriend and one with sound reasoning, so when Thomas has to take care of this cat called Bud [which I have to say this cat who has the real name of Bud is an absolute star of this movie; back to our regular review], which he doesn't like cats, but she does and she says I like cats or just cover my back something to this effect [this is a very niche comedy reference to Kraviz being Selina Kyle/Catwoman predominately in The Batman 2022.

The action sequences are the general kinds of things for this type of movie; beating up, hospitalisation, torture, running, shooting guns and other things.

Character developments and performances; for what these character developments are; they are solid versions of what they were going for here and the same can be said for the performances as well, but I can't stress this enough; completely wastes its assembled cast of talented performers be it on two legs or four legs.

This film receives: 4/10, this film is mixed; once again without giving too much away there are two very significant turning point in this movie where after they individually happen; the first one I was like no way; this turning point really did harm the movie and then later on with the second I was like I am done; after which I just couldn't take this film seriously and consequently it is really sucked, the mark I have chosen is based on acknowledgement of all of the cast and we have one extra scene, then some at of Bud playing around and then another extra scene, yet somehow this project has gone some positive awards accredited to its name such as 4 Nominees which include but not limited to Golden Schmoes Awards 2026 Golden Schmoes Most Underrated Movie of the Year.
