Warning: there is flashing effects/colourful effects/drugs/sexual assault/decomposing/cutting/bodily functions/animal cruelty/electrocution/medical/references to cancer.

I am trying to find my niece: briefly; we meet DCDP Officer Dr. Alex Cross [Morgan Freeman:] he is a forensic psychologist and his niece has gone missing, we need Dr. Kate McTiernan [Ashley Judd:] she is a medical doctor, specifically surging; she gets kidnapped like many before her.

Generally speaking: to begin proceedings we have some character developments in the form of exposition; the storyline/script is something okay and solid, but man the framework and pacing for the vast majority of this movie which is 115 minutes long; like three quarters is just terrible; in theory I know what they were trying to do; by making this film slow and steady and that is to basically lean on the investigation, performances aspects to build atmosphere; which is absolutely fine, if that is what you want to do; which works to a certain extent. But now I have said that; there was a limit to how much you can lean on this outlay without a change of gear now and again just to move the film on now and again which it does have that much later on, but for the meantime; you are essentially leaving this film in their hands of individually or together of Freeman or/and of Judd with some quick moments thrown in if you are lucky; so Freeman or/and Judd trying to fill up essentially this empty space in the scenes, which they do to a certain extent again, but you can still feel a certain amount of emptiness in these scenes, which quickly becomes tiresome, I mean if I didn't know this film was safely under two hours, I would say it felt comfortable in more like somewhere between 130-150 minutes of the movie.

Art and action; without giving too much away; this hideout has been well-designed to fulfil its purpose and much later on host this well thought out action sequence.

Character developments and performances; the character developments and vast majority of the cast performances are good versions of what they are meant to be; but as you could probably see this coming; this film should be very thankful that it has Freeman or/and Judd contracted to be in this film; because without them and especially Freeman in particular this film would have avalanched in on itself.

This film receives: 4/10, as you may have guessed by now I found this film to be essentially really hard work and boring as hell, but if you're like me and never seen it before now it won't harm you; however you may need to get a log of coffee ready to drink to keep you awake throughout your viewing experience; it does have some positive awards accredited to its name such as 5 Nominees which include but not limited to Blockbuster Entertainment Awards 1998 Favorite Actor -Suspense Morgan Freeman and from the same award ceremony/event Favorite Actress - Suspense Ashley Judd
