Four friends go an adventure: Gordie Lachance [Younger: Wil Wheaton/Older: Richard
Dreyfuss:] he is the talented one, Chris Chambers [River Phoenix:] he is the
one that could do more with his life, but he and his family's reputation comes
with a certain level of weight around the neck. Teddy Duchamp [Corey Feldman:]
he is crazy one and finally we have Vern Tessio [Jerry O'Connell:] he is scared
one out of our group and they go and track somebody down.
Generally speaking: the framework is brought to us by older
Lachance/Dreyfuss by the outlay of voice-over/storyteller and the pacing does
take some time to find its footing, but by and large it is the smooth watch.
Art
and action; there is some nice scenery on our journey such as a train and
everything else you would expect to company that, speaking of this train we
have our four friends or I should say our three friends trying to out run,
whilst essentially we have Duchamp trying to play chicken with it, and on a
quick side note this is not the only time that someone will then again of
chicken, on top of that we have friends having a scuffle or at one point or
another going off or something going on.
Comedy,
character developments, performances and voice performances; we do have a small
bits of comedy such as what is Goofy? [The Disney iconic character,] the
character developments are in-depth, coming-of-age outlay as broadly speaking
dynamic of this group is how can I put this nicely younger Lachance and
Chambers individually, but in the context of this group these two that most
definitely could do or are going to be more in their lives than their over two
friends and for Duchamp and/or Tessio they are going to have solid good lives
and for most people that is absolutely fine and cool, so they don't have to essentially
worry, but because younger Lachance and Chambers have in their own individual
ways a much better intelligence, including a better cognitive understanding of
the world around them, they converse differently on a one-to-one basis with one
another, with a slight difference from one has more of a creative spark, whilst
the other is more cast in the model of streetsmart and/or straight talking.
The
performances and/or voice performance on both counts they are excellent as even
the smallest role has been given the authentic approach from this town known as
Castle Rock, in Oregon set in the 1950s, as everyone seemed to know what
everyone was going for and they just delivered it: in summary bringing this
small town to life from the 1950s: but let's put a special mention out there
without the four main characters/performers having his natural and free-flowing
chemistry built between them or all together or different numbers this film
would have really fallen flat on its face... So not too much pressure on essentially
young people then? But they pulled it off with flying colours and on top of
that we have Kiefer Sutherland as Ace Merrill: the leader of this group: he to
put in an impactful performance as for 95% of his appearances on screen, he is
in complete control of what is happening.
This film receives: 10/10, this film is top-notch entertainment; yes I
decided to award another mark, because other than being a little bit slower to
begin with on multiple levels it is a very strong film and yes it is one of those
films that you need to see once at minimum in your lifetime that is sure, I had
the pleasure of watching this film with the person I want some of this content
with at the seminar and there is an ongoing seen when the ending credits start
rolling, this should be no surprise that this film has some awards accredited
to its name such as 6 Winners which includes but not limited to BMI Film &
TV Awards 1988 Most Performed Song from a Film Ben E. King For the song
"Stand By Me" and Young Artist Awards 1987 Jackie Coogan Award
