12 going on 30: briefly; we meet Joshua "Josh" Baskin
[Younger: David Moscow/Older: Tom Hanks:] he is a scrawny kid isn't most
popular in school, in fact he is one best friend Billy Francis Kopecki [Jared
Rushton:] they are social misfits together and when the time comes the only one
that Joshua and trust and rely on. But when Josh comes across the Zoltar Speaks
fortune-telling machine [that has mystical powers to grant wishes:] where he
asks to be big, his wish is granted.
Generally speaking: the framework and pacing of this 104 minutes film is
pleasant
Character
developments, comedy, action and art; physically older Josh has to quickly
adapt to being in the adult world will at best as he can, but to begin with we
go through this; if you were a child in an adult's body will put you do? So we
have these two that have obviously eaten too much, sometime later we see Josh
goofing around with another child in this toy store; where they have this head
guard, hit pack laser gun; where you have to hit the target on your opponent's
chest to score [it is the equivalent of Laser Quest/Tag,] but the home version.
Josh
bumps into his boss Mr. MacMillan
[Robert Loggia:] he is the owner of FAO
Schwarz, where they got talking about business and had some fun on a Walking
Piano with duets on the music: "Heart and Soul" and "Chopsticks,
" Josh's boss was so impressed with his insight and enthusiasm he gave him
a job promotion, masterful performances from this duet, so consequently I will
add an additional mark and incidentally this piano duet sequence of events is a
part of cinema history as everyone that has ever seen this film can easily
remember it.
Character
developments and performances; the character developments and performances are
broadly speaking all good with naturally free-flowing chemistry, but let's be
honest here it is down to Hanks that this project goes on to be a smashing
success; from Josh beginning his brief new life; being vulnerable and scared to
his mental age eventually matching is physical age; it is a unique take on the
coming-of-age outlay/formula.
This film receives: 9/10, this film is excellent; I mean if you haven't
seen this film it is one of those films that you need to see once in your
lifetime, there is also an ongoing seen as the ending credits begin to roll.
This film also has some awards accredited to its name such as 11 Winners which
include but not limited to Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror
Films, USA 1990 Saturn Award Best Actor Tom Hanks and Best Supporting Actor
Robert Loggia. 14 Nominees which also include but not limited to Academy
Awards, USA 1989 Oscar Best Actor in a Leading Role Tom Hanks and Best Writing,
Screenplay Written Directly for the Screen Gary Ross Anne Spielberg
