Look
it is Amber Heard's favourite film:
briefly; we have strange goings-on with the teenagers of town called Springwood
in Ohio as they keep getting killed by this strange entity. Nancy Thompson and
Rod Lane [Heather Langenkamp & Johnny Depp:] they are girlfriend or boyfriend and they both attend Springwood High School and to survive all they
have to do is don't go to sleep.
Generally
speaking: the framework and pacing of this
91 minutes film is good, I should just say that the background music is very much
done in the old-style of background music/mood setting, which if you are from
the 70's, 80's or early to mid 1990's you know precisely what I mean; I don't
mind any of this in fact it is very much dying or dead art form in my opinion.
Character developments, performance of our entity,
action and art; look I may as well just come out and say it from the very
beginning and no this is no way shape or form a criticism of this film, but our
entity for this franchise really does come into his own after this first
instalment [so after this instalment I will be referring to him as his real
name and performer; as long as the original performer stays under the hat; from
the very beginning until he hands over the hat and man-made sharp claws; he
makes his character is very own and consequently legendary,] but for here and
now we are just scratching the surface; even though as a first run out he
establishes himself as someone that means business and will stop at nothing to
achieve his ambitions and whomever came up with the limited visual
identification perspective; meaning using darkness or showing off a little bit
here and there is/was an excellent move; because it puts across that night,
shadows and dreams are his strongest allies; from the perspective of you will find
him waiting or lurking in the darkness; with his man-made sharp claws
So the background and ideology of this legendary
character and performer is amazing, hey what can I say I really like legendary
horror characters with a rich background and ideology in this case simply put;
he is back for revenge and his playground is in the dreams of teenagers where
anything is possible such dragging them down for remains to be shot out like
Niagara Falls; it is a highly imaginative sequence of events.
Character developments, performances and comedy;
predominantly first of all; they are on both counts good versions of what they
are meant to be. But now want to Heather Langenkamp as Nancy Thompson; she is
obviously afraid of what or who is coming or her or any other teenager, but she
wants to deal with it. So this is a excellent performance from her to try and
push back from this likewise excellent performance from this entity. Because if
we didn't have this excellent back and forth; this first film would have felt
flat on its face, because as it is the first instalment nothing has been
established yet so this back and forth was vital to success of this film title
and this film is not a comedy; but when Nancy asks Rod to do just one thing and
let's just say he fails, this is the only comedy moment.
This film receives: 10/10, this film is top-notch entertainment; especially as I got the opportunity to seeing this film at my local cinema on a big-screen, with that person I watch some of this content with never seen an instalment from this franchise ever before. This is one of those films that you need to see once in a lifetime and if you're wondering, the person I want some of this content with has declined to watch the sequel, in her words roughly/paraphrasing: I can say I have seen one and it was weird. This film has some awards to its name such as 6 Awards that includes Avoriaz Fantastic Film Festival 1985 Special Mention Heather Langenkamp For the acting and at the same award ceremony/event Critics Award Wes Craven [on a quick side note; writer/director of this film.] 7 Nominees that includes Young Artist Awards 1985 Young Artist Award Best Young Actress in a Motion Picture - Musical, Comedy, Adventure or Drama Heather Langenkamp and from the same award ceremony/event Best Young Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture Musical, Comedy, Adventure or Drama Johnny Depp.
