Real Talking Time:
Okay
Dr Who has major problems?:
Seriously what the fudge do you want me to say or do about it? This regenerated
version of him and 90% of what is around him is a problem minus Ncuti Gatwa as
the Fifteenth Dr Who and Millie Gibson as Ruby Sunday; the newest/latest
companion to the doctor.
I
don't give two dumplings about the Dr's origin of ethnicity or/and sexuality
[but in fairness and balance the sexuality component from an overview
perspective is going to be problematic for later regenerations of the Dr.] As
we have gone from generally speaking the Dr being straight, showing signs of
lesbian behaviour and now gay, so let make the character of Dr Who non-binary.
To be brutally honest but also incredibly fair I think that it is horse
dumplings and incredibly jarring to see how they are slowly pushing the
boundaries; it is very immature; it's like saying without saying it "Let's
try making him a her and experiment with lesbian behaviour and then based on
that let's say let's push the boundaries and make the next one of a different
ethnic background and make him gay and maybe they won't notice." I should
clarify the really jarring thing about this is their handling of this gender
character evolution; let's just make the character non-binary and get on with
it, but then again it is going to be problematic if they just want a version
that is strictly one of the other sections of our society. [I have just spent
two seconds thinking about it; I can see them doing it as a storyline in a
future series where the character of the Dr goes through a regeneration and
doesn't love the person that they were with before the regeneration,] which
this would be incredibly dangerous TV it has every potential to become toxic
TV.
I
feel incredibly comfortable suggesting this; based on the overwhelming fact/my
opinion that, throughout this series; that episode scripts were absolutely
doggy dumplings; the subject matters ranging from in no particular order and
off the top of my head elements of pronouns, religion, social media/social
commentary/mental health, wasting episode time on a long joke in an episode
involving Wales, discovering this Dr is gay, but generally the episodes being
of a very poor quality and without giving too much away the story arc between
every episode of this series was a complete waste of time as it was not even
worth waiting around for it was and is a whole load of shish kebab as in; was
that it? Really was that it?!
So if
I haven't made this crystal clear at this point and allow me to be 100%
transparent here; firstly get in some writers that actually know how to gel
scripts with storylines on average with the other social and other elements you
want to put in your scripts without them sounding or having like a presentation
of public service announcement. People just want to be represented on/in TV
programs so I don't see why or most writers; seemingly get this so fudgin'
wrong? If you treat people as normal people then I will give you a hint then it
becomes normalised without special treatment; so for an example if you have
someone that happens to be gay living in their eyes; their normal life including
but not limited to have been to stand up for themselves or dealing with some
blowback because of them being gay, but after dealing with that; showing them
getting back to their normal life and/or talking about this incident with their
partner or somebody; this is how it should be shown on/in projects of any
variety where in a nutshell it gives you a lot to work with and hidden depths
to one individual character based on they could have more to them other than
being without being harsh but at the same time I need to make this point clear
so apologies; them just being a public service announcement for their section
of society.
It
should be noted; that I and the person I watch some of this content with felt
sorry for Gatwa and/or Gibson; it definitely feels like they got hanged out to
dry on; this partnership is good, but I feel that it could with better scripts,
be much more better than what it is.
