A
Djinn in a bottle; must be a Christina Aguilera fan then: Briefly; Dr. Alithea Binnie [Younger: Alyla
Browne/Older: Tilda Swinton:] she is an
narratology scholar that gets to choose a memento from a friend of hers,
she chooses this glass bottle with a lid, she ended up and takes off the led
and outcomes this Djinn [Idris Elba:] he
offers her three wishes and only by the third and final wish can you be set
free... well that is if in some way he doesn't send back to the beginning in
his bottle: this is his/their story.
Generally
speaking: the script, character developments
and framework and pacing; well I can't stand the script it was so boring, I
mean if you want to do a storyteller in some way or another script fine, with
some exposition, but for the love of god don't make it 80% of the film where
trust me when I say it gets incredibly tedious like watching paint dry, for the
vast amount of time it doesn't matter what you have on screen, everything just
begins to fall into a loll and then for no exaggeration for maybe 20% or less
[which means the 80% is higher obviously: I was thinking I would just put this
in just in case or if someone got there before me:] they tried to put in a
present-day script. So it shouldn't take much to work out that the framework
and pacing of this 108 minutes film has only one speed which is slow and steady
and in fact in hindsight; they really do make this film feel much longer than
this 108 minutes and alongside that we have these different life stories
divides.
Comedy, art and action; having Djinn straightout to a
massive size on his release in our present time; this was comical, but moving
on yes to begin with this film is most definitely a treat for the eyes as there
is always a little something happening around the corner, but the novelty will
wear off eventually, where you will be thinking
"Is this it?" And I can reassure you yes this is pretty much
it, the war sequences as combined art and action are a good and putting books
and other accessories in these bottles are/were a good touch.
Character developments and performances; well putting
the exposition to one side; the character developments and performances are all
good in particular our lead partnership of Swinton and/or a Elba; but I'm sorry
even this partnership gets boring in the later stages of this title.
This
film receives: 2/10, this film is poor; as I have
maybe highlighted already I just found this film to be insufferably boring, yes
even the positives become insufferable the more you watch of this film, I would
be happy never to watch this film again unless I had lost this content, I mean
nothing wrong if you are a fan of either one or both of these performers I had
mentioned in this content, take a look at this film, but and I can't stress
this enough, at minimum you may want to keep your expectations reasonably low.
But somehow this film has some awards accredited to its name; such as 4 Winners
that include but not limited to Sant Jordi Awards 2023 Sant Jordi Best Actress
in a Foreign Film (Millor actriu en pel·lĂcula estrangera) Tilda Swinton Shared
with: Memoria and 19 Nominees which also include but not limited to Australian
Film Critics Association Awards 2022 AFCA Award Best Actor Idris Elba
