The Negotiator 1998 by AverageMansReviews

Warning:
there is flashing effects/colourful effects/shooting/burning/medical
On
the brink of losing everything:
briefly; a suspended Chicago Police
Lieutenant Danny Roman [Samuel L. Jackson:] he is a hard-working individual
that deal with hostage negotiations as well, but unfortunately he is squarely
in the frame for a crime he didn't commit, but having said there is a lot of
evidence to indicate on the contrary, so as a last resort he takes over this
building/office in Internal Affairs that are currently dealing with his case
and as you can imagine this situation very quickly escalates, to the point
where Lieutenant Roman: call upon
Chicago Police Lieutenant Chris Sabian [Kevin Spacey:] he is another
highly skilled officer which likewise it is one of the best negotiators around,
they have little bit of history of knowing each other, that hopefully will do
right by each other.
Generally
speaking: the script, character
developments: full disclosure; I watched this film from TV and I have seen this
film at least twice from the top of my head, I didn’t realise it was one so I
missed a little bit at the beginning of the film in its rolling opening; where
it basically depicts the background of these characters and their rise that
kind of thing: the framework and pacing of this 139 minutes film is good, but
having said that it does take a little while for this project to warm up
Action and art: for a limited situation action film; this
film does good, for one example; in a nutshell; we have this unit laying siege
to the hopefully bring this situation to a close [on a quick side note I should
point out: it was not authorised by Lieutenant Sabian:] but they underestimate
Lieutenant Roman, as he is extremely on the ball and things get messy, it won't
be for the last time in this film, all of the action and the execution of these
action sequences are reliably good
Character developments, performances and comedy; the
character developments follow the reliable investigation/suspect outlay, with a
cast of performances which perform the character types excellent way, with
masterful performances from Jackson and/or Spacey: as one knows full well he
didn't do what he is being accused of, whilst the other really doesn't want
this blemish on his record; with both knowing the rules of engagement as it
relates to being a negotiator; individually or together Jackson or/and Spacey
make this film and consequently their performances their very own as say
without one or both of them; this film would have lost all of its potency, I'm
not taking anything away from the surrounding cast; but Jackson or/and Spacey:
are individually or together the driving force behind the projects and they are
a level above everyone everyone else and at minimum they should have been given
positive nominees for something or the effects of on-screen pairing category
awards, we do have a little bit of comedy sprinkled in and throw this project
from different characters such as once again for one example; Paul Giamatti as
Rudy Timmons: is one of the hostages of this situation, broadly speaking he is
one of those people that comes across as if he can get away with something he
will or most definitely try, he is also mouthy which does irritate people as
you will see, but he is also very good on a computer.
This
film receives: 9/10, this film is excellent; this
film if you have never seen it should most definitely be seen
once-in-a-lifetime; for it is excellent usage of for the vast majority of this
project it takes place dealing with this situation and the outlay because of
it, with an excellent assembled cast with as I have already indicated Jackson
and Spacey going head to head or/and working together. This film also has some
awards accredited to its name such as 2 Winners that include but not limited to
Acapulco Black Film Festival 1999 Black Film Award Best Film and 7 Nominees
also including but not limited to from the same award ceremony/event Black Film
Award Best Actor Samuel L. Jackson.
