Let's just get through this shall
we: briefly; JJ/other name [Dave
Batista:] he still works for the CIA, but nowadays you can find him being
behind screens such as being a computer analyst; Sophie [Chloe Coleman:] she
has hit the awkward teenager years, she would like to go away with the school
for a choir competition in Italy, JJ puts himself forward to be a chaperone and at some
point they will find themselves in a mission.
Generally speaking: the script: well... it is a steaming pile of garbage:
you may as well fast-forward the first roughly 39 minutes not a lot happens, as
a character development is designed to focus on essentially Sophie
coming-of-age and JJ really struggling with that and the direction of his own
life. But to be brutally honest it is only until much later on that we have
some kind of resolution. I mean away from this garbage, we do have a mission
unfolding at some point, but because of this really painful script and don't
even get me started on the framework and pacing of this 113 minutes film; as I have
already illustrated; this film does take ages upon ages to get going and even
when it does get going, I wouldn't blame you if you completely forgotten how or
what we saw get here.
Action,
comedy and art: Because the action and/or comedy is the kind of things you
would broadly expect like chasing, escaping and guns and likewise we have the comedy level to
complement that; with JJ rumbling this party going on with these high school
children/choir: but also protecting them from the real bed check, so one minute
we have this chaotic parties scene and the next moment we have JJ being the
maestro so this choir can seemingly get in some rehearsal time, there is this
escaping sequence of these characters under JJ's watch; it has been given the
presentation of him waiting for them, but you can see them going cross the
outside window and we even have a reference to oral sex [which obviously I
cannot disclose here,] but I know it is lowbrow but it is the only time I
laughed. The action sequences including artistic temperament I can give praise
to is this underwater sequence near to the end of the film; let's be honest
here and say it is by far the best sequence of events that this film has the
offer, as the concept may be a relatively easy and straightforward outlay, but
it is clear to seeing this they really did pull out all the stops to make this
sequence the best that they could put out.
Character
developments and performances; these character types as you may have guessed
already are of a bog standard level as I have already alluded to from earlier.
Okay usually I wouldn't be perhaps this harsh, but in this case what with the
performances putting in a solidly good performance from: David Kim [Ken Jeong:]
he is the head of Covert Operations for the CIA and [Kristen Schaal:] she is a computer analyst
for the CIA. But for the rest on top of the script and etc, these performances
feel and look like as if we are just going through the motions here, but if
this is what they were going for here? Well done to them they have struck gold.
This film receives: 3/10, this film is poor; this is one of occasions where
you just have to say Wow that was an experience... Which I would like to never
repeat again hopefully; it was really tiresome and hard work to watch and
finally yes there are some extra bits and pieces in the closing credits
