Warning:
there is flashing effects/colourful
effects/disfigurement/shooting/stabbing/cutting/drugs/vehicle crash/medical.
Well that was a little bit
pointless; wasn't it?: Briefly; John
Sedley/other names [Mickey Rourke:] he is a criminal and after a robbery
doesn't go according to plans, he gets put back in prison, but this time he
gets a second chance at life, but there is only one person that truly believes
once a criminal; always a criminal and he goes by the name of Lt. A.Z. Drones
[Morgan Freeman:] he has a history with Sedley and so he will be right there,
when he screws up again.
Generally speaking: this script, framework and pacing; well this script
itself is for most of it; it holds solidly together, but then again you will
get to a certain point in this film where; things start to unravel, which at
some point here or there I will make reference to it, but then again I can't
make too much reference to it without spoiling the film. So the framework and
pacing for this 94 minutes film; is functional and sound, I don't mind the
first weeks time jump, but the second one feels it is done more out of
necessity, to get the project where it needs to be, as in on the first time
jump; it is useful and move things, whilst the second gives off the impression
we are running out of time here. It is very rare that you have in one project
pole opposites of time jump uses; so in its entirety I would say functional.
Action:
it is very much the run of the mill for this kind of action revenge type of
film; so you know they are solidly reliably good.
Character
developments and performances; because a heavy amount of this film is based
around character developments for our lead character, the general character
developments and the performances are all good, but ultimately somewhat wasted
This film receives: 6/10, this film is good; well after everything is said
and done yes it finds itself in this section of my marking system, but as I
referenced earlier in some way or another I would have to something and here we
are, without too much away. The ending is absolutely baffling, because things
didn't need to go down like this, which in turn and in essence makes this film
more or less a waste of time and energy. This film also has some awards
accredited to its name such as 4 Nominees includes but not limited to Los
Angeles Film Critics Association Awards 1989 LAFCA Award Best Actor Morgan
Freeman Shared with: Driving Miss Daisy Lean on Me Glory Jupiter Awards 1990
Jupiter Award Best International Actor Mickey Rourke
