I want to be taken seriously: briefly; NYPD Lieutenant John Moss [James Woods:] he is
a very intense individual as he is on this case to arrest this serial killer
known as The Party Crasher and after the latest attempt to capture him doesn't
go according to plan; he sends this individual message via a news
report/interview. Consequently this actor; Nick Lang/other characters [Michael
J. Fox:] with getting fed up with the same casting roles, so before he takes
his next role Blood on the Asphalt; he wants to ride along with NYPD Lieutenant Moss for a little while undercover
with only a limited amount of people knowing that he is the big film star Nick
Lang and yes NYPD Lieutenant Moss knows of his celebrity status and isn't a
fan, but he has no choice as his superior makes it happen, as of Lang
giving freebies and other incentives.
Generally speaking: the framework and pacing of this 111 minute film is
good, but this will not be the last time I made reference to this; but our lead
partnership of J. Fox and Woods individually or together just keep this film
going.
Action,
art and comedy; now throughout this film we have consistently good action and
comedy, but I will be focusing on the closing section of this film; as we have
so much going on; we have all of the main components of this title being
involved in this action sequence located up, inside, outside and around this
billboard for Lang's newest movie Smoking Gun II: this sequence of events is
chaotic and good fun, as this billboard has some interactive parts such as
moving eyes and smoking cigarette; this cigarette will eventually slow break
for there has to be a quick rescue; excellent concept for action, art and
comedy.
Character
developments and performances; broadly speaking to begin with the character
developments are all good and the same can be said for the performances as
well. The driving force behind this title would be J. Fox and Woods: I know
these character types are from this standard model of two different individuals
from two different worlds, but also eventually finding some common ground and
friendship, in this case they are really opposing opposites; one has a soft
nose for real life, whilst the other is extremely hard nosed, so whilst other
elements of his life aren't going too well, he can or try to focus on capturing
this serial killer, I mean as I have already shown this movie star/ride along,
but all so completely out of his depth/new partner; of sorts, tries to assist
with practising talking to women
This film receives: 6/10, this film is good; this as you can probably guess
it doesn't need Woods and J. Fox's chemistry for this film to work, without
them this film would have fallen flat on its face and yes there is an extra
scene somewhere in the closing credits. This film also has an award an
accredited to its name 1 Nominee MTV Movie + TV Awards 1991 Best Action
Sequence For the scene from the final on the roof.
