We have to go into protection: basically; Gru/other name [voiced by Carell:] he works for the AVL [Anti-Villain League] and as his last mission was a success with apprehending   Maxime Le Mal [voiced by Will Farrell:] he is a super villain that has a weird thing for cockroaches, that swears revenge and on escaping he is now out for revenge.

Generally speaking: the script; I know the script is something safe and reliable; I was thinking I would point this out just based on I know; I know it follows a reliable yet predictable script, the framework and pacing of this 95 minutes film is slow to begin with that point where I almost fell asleep twice.

Art, Comedy and Action; obviously from an artistic perspective, this film is up-to-date, fresh and easy to look at. The Minions of any kind are still after roughly 14 years amusing with their mischief; be it eating jelly or being stuck in a vending machine or anything else; they can still be a massive influence on any project they are a part of and for the human characters including action now; there is this running sequence of events after a bad haircut was a consequence early on in the film; if you're old enough you will recognise this chasing music of The Terminator [to be a little bit more specific they have chosen to go with Terminator 2: Judgement Day 1991 T-1000; Robert Patrick and no unfortunately they don't go as far as to see the T-1000 reaffirmation sequence, yes I know that would be cool, but we will just have to settle for what we get ; it is not the standard/legendary version; it has been modified but if you know it; you will pick up on it.] Later on we get Poppy Prescott [voiced by Joey King:] she lives next door and is an inspiring supervillainess that blackmails Gru. But in this scene; she goes on one of these dancing arcade machines [basic description; you have to keep up with the beat with your feet and step on these buttons in the right order.] Her partner for this scene is her cat [full disclosure I am pretty sure it is her cat, I remember is scene, but I am pretty sure it was her cat, apologies if I have got this wrong] as they take on a very difficult fast-paced song title; Through the Fire and Flames released in 2005 by DragonForce; yes they are of the alternative music genres; speed metal and once again yes as I am of the alternative community I have seen with their original line up.

Character developments and voice performances; usually I wouldn't bring up this point, but this instalment forces my hand, now generally speaking the character developments are what you come to expect from this franchise, so on one hand they are good. But now we have a problem as we have a new character Gru Jr. it opens the continuity door wide open as in the returning characters haven't aged. Basically it is lazy, I mean why didn't they just adopt the baby at the end of the film. I mean that is how you get around this kind of continuity issue but of course they need to have sometimes new faces to put on merchandise and voice performances are likewise what you come to expect from this franchise also.

This film receives: 6/10, this film is good; to be honest after taking everything into consideration this instalment finishes in the brackets of my marking system, if you have a young family, this will suit them down to the ground and in one way or another there are extra bits throughout the ending credits
