Warning Disclaimer: I am not a medical professional and I am not or ever
likely to be a professional wrestler, but straight off the bat I just think
this is a bad idea.
On Monday 22/01/2024: we heard from the WWE Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins
where in a nutshell and I am paraphrasing here he could be out for 3 to 4
months with his knee injuries. Where theoretically he could be back for
WrestleMania 40/2024 which speculation but probably will become fact he will
defend his championship on the first night which is the Saturday 06/04/2024, so
as things are he has over 70 days to get himself up and running again. I think
this is going to be incredibly tight at best, but as a content creator does
indicate in my words the WWE must think at this point it is possible, because
he still is in possession of the WWE Heavyweight Championship. It is just as a
sports fan, I know if you rush a player back for a big match, there is always a
possibility that they could break down in the match itself, because they
weren't 100% ready to come back. Yes I am fully aware that wrestlers; wrestle
sometimes injured, but there is a difference between wrestling injured and
relying on a potentially unreliable body part.
I
know Rollins is the real face of the WWE and he has every right and should be
at WrestleMania 40/2024 doing his thing on the biggest stage of them all in
professional wrestling, but I just feel slightly uncomfortable with the
potential outcome of him wrestling at this Premium Live Event and him not being
at least in a solid condition to get through the match and instead of it being
3 or 4 months it turning out to be like 9 or 10 months.
But
it brings up the old argument again and if you have been around wrestling long
enough, this topic comes up now and again time after time and no just for the
record this is not an tribal thing it is a wrestling thing. Where I do think
wrestlers do wrestle a bit too much, I am not talking about a mid-season break
or a part-time schedule, I just wish the WWE and/or AEW would use their rosters
a little bit more, because I know I have discussed this at one point or
another. But you could still have your champion or/and champions on your
programming/events, but sometimes instead of wrestling maybe do promos segments
or something, but just maybe not wrestling, just so that regardless of gender
they can heal up a bit or you know manage injuries or potentially not
experience in injury in a match/match slot because they didn't wrestle and who
knows you can flush out your rosters and give other people time to grow and
develop.
This
is my final point in this content; I would like to think and hope that
obviously it would be good and Rollins deserves to be at this milestone of
WrestleMania's doing his thing and "Cough" defending this
championship against CM Punk, but hopefully someone would say "Look you are
not physically ready for this" or "Look you are losing tonight and
after that you are taking the next two or three months off to heal up properly
and come back fighting fit for WWE SummerSlam 2024.” Because as I have already
referenced if you have been around wrestling long enough, you would also know
that wrestlers will always say they are fit to wrestle even when they aren't,
it is in their DNA and programming I am a wrestler for there I wrestle and I
know he has plenty of years left in the tank, but when the final bell tolls, I
want him to be able to move around and be with his family.
